Ultimate Reset FAQs

Will I be hungry all the time during the Ultimate Reset?

No. You’ll eat three healthy, satisfying meals every day. Most participants found the meals provided them with plenty of food. Just in case, though, we also give you a list of tasty snacks you can eat while still maintaining your Reset.

What’s the difference between the Ultimate Reset and most cleanses on the market?

During the Ultimate Reset, you’ll eat three healthy, satisfying meals every day and take supplements. You won’t starve, drink only juice, or eat only meal replacements. You’ll become familiar with delicious new foods and recipes that will help you maintain your health gains beyond these 21 days. In other words, the Reset isn’t a quick fix. It’s a path to real, long-term change.

Will I lose weight on the Ultimate Reset?

Probably. Most Reset participants have lost weight. However, they’re even more excited to have acquired new, healthy habits and released unhealthy ones. They’ve eliminated cravings for sugar and caffeine, learned delicious ways to prepare fruits and vegetables, and grown more aware of how different foods affect their moods and energy levels, making it easier for them to continue eating healthily.

Can I work out during my Ultimate Reset?

No, for the 21 days of the Ultimate Reset, we suggest you refrain from strenuous exercise. The Reset is already giving your body a serious internal workout. After your Reset, you’ll be ready to resume your Beachbody® workout program and benefit even more from your efforts.

I’m on medication. Can I do the Reset?

Check with your physician before beginning the Reset to make sure that it won’t react negatively with any medication you’re taking.

I’m pregnant. Can I do the Ultimate Reset?

No. Your body’s systems are already working hard. Wait to do the Reset another time.

What if I have questions, or need help understanding something in the Reset?

Don’t worry! You’ll have the support and guidance of your Coach every step of the way. And because your Coach has already completed the Reset, she’ll know how to answer your questions from experience.

Can/Should I continue my medication while on the Ultimate Reset?

“Yes” is the easy answer, but you should always consult your physician before beginning this program to be sure that this Reset won’t interfere with any treatments or conditions. The variations are infinite, so please make sure you’re well informed as to whether your situation is compatible with this program. If it’s not, please return the product for a full refund of your purchase price.

Should I continue with my current vitamin and supplement program during the Reset?

No. The Ultimate Reset has been carefully formulated and tested to ensure you’ll be getting all the vitamins and nutrients you need during all three phases. Again, however, if you’re taking vitamins or supplements for any specific nutritional or medical condition, you should first consult with your physician before altering your regimen.

Can I do the Ultimate Reset while pregnant or nursing?

No, it’s best to wait.

Is there any “cheating” allowed while on the Ultimate Reset?

The Ultimate Reset is not a diet; it’s a detox program. So try to view it as such. (A person who is on a program to quit smoking doesn’t cheat from time to time with the intent of eliminating the addiction to nicotine, right?) To answer your question more directly, no, there’s no cheating allowed. However, if you find yourself in need of a little something extra to eat, just be sure to stay in line with the phase you’re in. For example, in the Release Phase (Week 2), there’s no meat or dairy allowed. So if you need more food, make sure it’s a fruit, vegetable, or whole grain.

What happens if I cheat during the Ultimate Reset?

Get right back on the program, and don’t beat yourself up about it.

Should my 15-year-old son and my 13-year-old daughter do the Ultimate Reset?

No. Although they may benefit from many elements of the Ultimate Reset, it’s best not to follow this program until you’re 18 years old. Remember, as we move through puberty to adulthood, there are already a great many processes and “resets” occurring within the body. It’s best to wait until these are complete. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t include your children in your journey. They can learn how to eat more healthily and experiment with the foods we advocate within the program, which can be shared by the whole family, regardless of age.

Will the Ultimate Reset help with constipation?

Yes. Barring any serious medical conditions, the Reset’s three-phase meal plan and supplement protocol will help with regularity and constipation.

Why no laxatives or enemas, as in other cleanses?

The Ultimate Reset is not a quick fix. It’s about reaching an overall state of well- being. We’re working gently with the body to help bring it back to what it does naturally, rather than relying on such invasive measures.

Can I continue with the supplements after I’ve completed my Reset?

Yes. The Ultimate Reset Maintenance Kit and the six individual supplements are available for purchase (available on HD). By taking the supplements after the Reset, you are taking an important step in maintaining your Ultimate Reset results and in optimizing your health from the inside out.

I’m having difficulty cooking all the food. Can I buy packaged food that is precooked or premade at a deli counter? What about from a restaurant?

The Beachbody Ultimate Reset is a whole-body experience. Part of that experience is preparing and eating your own foods. If you have a tight schedule, you may refer to the Food Prep Tips in the Weekly Meal Plans for ideas on how to save time. If you are traveling or unable to cook your own foods, we highly recommend you eat as closely to the Weekly Meal Plans as possible and choose foods from trusted healthy sources, such as Whole Foods or a vegan restaurant.

Why 3 phases of Ultimate Reset?

Reclaim

In Phase 1, you Reclaim your body, balancing its inner chemistry and preparing it for change—much like soap loosens grime.

Release

In Phase 2, you Release the toxic compounds that are clogging your cells and stored within your tissues—like a purifying surge of clear water that flushes away years of impurities.

Restore

In Phase 3, you Restore your metabolism to maximum efficiency, while fortifying your body with the nutrients, enzymes, and probiotics it needs to maintain healthy performance in the future.

Have you ever done the reset Coach?  If, you didn't why not?

CoachWayne 128 pts moderator

Bob, no I haven't done the UR. I haven't wanted to take that much of a break from training. My dad had great results with the Reset though. He saw very good weight loss and a great improvement in his bloodwork. It is great way to start a journey or program and learn a lot of natural ways to cook and prepare really healthy food.

 CoachWayne

I agree.. I think after doing p90x/insanity for over 1 year and reading the nutrition guides and your articles :) its really helped me enough to create and learn good healthy food habits instead of having to use the Ultimate Reset... Tx

Deepakaw1 7 pts

However, if you find yourself in need of a little something extra to eat, just be sure to stay in line with the phase you’re in.

hey coach. how long should i wait after completing the reset to start another round of p90x and eating meat and everything?

Hey Carlos, you can start working out immediately after finishing the reset. As for implementing meat back into your diet, that's up to you. You can do it immediately or you may decide you prefer the way you feel on a vegan diet.

Is anybody doing the reset? Can I drink tap water instead of distilled water?

Hey Carlos, you can, but the goal is to adhere as closely as possible to the reset.

Hey Coach! Where did you find the FAQs about the RESET? I'm just curious as a coach so I can validate my sources of information. People are reaching out to me about it. Thanks!

Hey Joe, the FAQ's are in your coach online office in the back office tools.

What type of food is on the reset? Do you know maybe a sample one day meal plan? Even under the coaching section at Team Beachbody I can't find a single mention of the types of food we will be preparing.

Hey Andrew, it comes with a nutrition guide that has vegan recipes. It's a detailed meal plan like the P90X or X2 meal guide, but this one is developed by Missy Costello, Tony Horton's personal chef (who is also a vegan). Look at her website, www.karmachow.com, for some ideas of the kinds of foods that are on this meal plan.

So this program has peaked my wife's interest. She has 2 questions though, 1) Can she still do Tai Cheng during the Reset? 2) When looking at the pricing, it talks about Shakeology being sent after the 3 weeks, does this mean she has to quit shakeology while doing the reset?

Hey Jacob, yes she can do Tai Cheng during the Reset, and no she doesn't have to stop Shakeology (but it needs to be the Tropical Vegan Shakeology during the reset).

I quess it's just the progression of the health business, And like you say coach it's not for everyone. But then trhat can be said for all the products offered here. There has to be a right fit so to speak. For some it's P90X, for others It Insanity. and for others it might just be Les Mills pump and Last but not least P90X2, Or turbo fire, Or 10 min Trainer. i think I've made my point. but whatever it is do it Whole souled not Half witted... Does that not make sence?

OH!!! Lol, sorry, never heard it named that way. K thank you

What's tr crick? Sorry just asking.

Hey JR, a "crick" would be a tight/sore spot from something like sleeping on your neck in a funny position or turning it funny while blogging on your computer, etc.

Hi doc, So my neck's been hurting these last couple of days and I'm seeing my Chiropractor tomorrow for an adjustment. However, she's advised me not to do anything that can aggravate my neck for fear of making matters worse. On a scale of 1-10, my neck pain is 4-5ish, maybe a slight 6 depending on how I move it. She said no jogging, walking, etc. Lower body work is okay, but not too much and to keep it light. I really can't think of anything I can do to get my exercise for the day without hurting myself. Can you recommend something or should I just keep it cool until I see her tomorrow? Thank you sir...

Hey JR, I guess just wait till you see the chiropractor then. This is still tr crick you got while blogging on your computer, right?? ;-)

my joke about not working out was too absolute. i think it targets a different demographic. if you look at the pictures there's a bit of grey hair in there. you can do it with something like tai cheng. it really just says avoid intense exercise, which is what people who visit this site do. at the end of the day BB is a business. i think it took a holistic approach with marketing this product and a light routine.

Hmm...seems that BB should already have had data to support before releasing product. And, it really flies in the face of BB message with instructions AVOID exercise. I'm the type of person where more than one day off turns to 2,3,7 days off, then I'm totally off track. This comes across as gimmicky to me, but that's just my opinion of course. On a positive note, I want to say that your site has helped me tremendously. I check it daily as well and use all the success stories as inspiration to keep pushing play. Thanks for all you do, Coach!

cleanse without working out? i take a shower every day and i still work out. ;)

No it's me this time lol. I'm still in grad school in a health focused major. We spend a lot of time trying to explain what is happening in the body, why it is happening, and how to manipulate outcomes. Nutrition comes up from time to time and we discuss current trends, hypothesis, and interventions for patients. I would love to see more literature on p90x so that it is more than just case by case examples. So yeah, keep bringing it.

Hi Wayne! A little off this topic, but I wanted to ask you a question about Insanity. Do you know if the order of the workouts are set for a reason or do I have flexibility to move them around a bit? My schedule with work, a toddler and a new baby is very hectic and it would help me if I could do the longer workoutsn Saturday and Sunday and have my off day Monday. Thanks in advance for your reply! Joe

Hey Joe, you can definitely move them around a bit to better fit your schedule. It won't hurt a thing (it's not as rigid of an order as the P90X workouts where you need to alternate the lift days with the cardio days). Keep it up!

An example of evidence based dieting comparing atkins, zone, traditional calorie cutting, and ornish diets. I would classify the p90x diet in the zone/traditional category. One caviate to the atkins approach is limited water soluble vitamins. Paleo is somewhat of a combination of atkins and zone (think zone minus bread and pasta)

Hey Al, thanks for the kind words! Is this really Al or is this your "friend" who hijacks your computer from time to time .... ;-) Anyways, keep doing your paleo if it's working for you. I'm not here to judge or debate the pros/cons of every nutrition approach on the planet. I've researched many of them, and I am here to talk about what's worked for me. It just so happens that because so many have listened to my advice, the same thing that worked for me has now worked for thousands of others who I have personally coached. So be it. That doesn't mean it's the only way. Keep Bringing it my friend!!!

OK just to say something nice...lol...I show your site to just about everyone for motivation, tips, and helpful information. I think the p90x/insanity system is awesome and I have maintained great results (I played sports in high school and have always had a high level of fitness so p90x was really just a different way to do the same stuff I've always done). I am skeptical about nutrition because I don't count calories, avoid fat, or take supplements. I stick to "paleo" or "low-carb" or whatever you want to call it. From the studies I've looked at it seems that it is simple carbohydrates, not calorie counting, that leads to obesity. But otherwise you are doing great. I made a TRX like you have, I have followed some of your hybrids, and I check the site daily. Sorry for the skepticism, but hey I'm keeping you honest.

Do you know if beachbody has and published literature supporting the use of an "ultimate cleanse"? (AKA does it actually do anything or is it just a fancy and expensive way to "clean" the body?)

Hey Al, my always antagonistic friend! Good to hear from you today! Someday I'd love to hear you compliment one of our success stories, hall of fame members, or report on how your progress is coming. Yet the only times you ever post it's to debate me about nutrition, supplements, etc. But hey, you are who you are so why change, huh? Anyways, to answer your skepticism, BB will publish results as soon as they have a large enough sample size to yield statistically significant data. So far, they had a test group do the full program and get great results (by results I mean full blood work, cholesterol, blood pressure, etc.). But it was just a group from within their company. Now, they've got the current group nearing completion (which I could have been part of but declined for my workout purposes). To do it, we were all required to get full labs. This isn't just a "feel good" reset. They actually are very interested in measurable changes in true indicators of health and body chemistry. I suspect that within a few months, there will be ample data to publish the supporting literature that will lend credibility (beyond anecdotal stories) to this program. But only time will tell :-). Just like when we all started P90X2, there was no published literature supporting the results we would get -- we ARE the pioneers!! :-). But come Sunday, the teamRIPPED X2 Crew alone will have a sample size of 600+ with insane results to get things started.

I drink it because of the health benefits (including a boost in metabolism?) but I drink that much because I like it. I guess its also the cold here drives me to the hot drink :) Thanks for the quick responses Coach, your site is an amazing soure of information which I have been reading daily for months!

You bet Danny! Keep chugging :-)

Interesting product . . . but definitely not for me personally. I'm not a believer in "cleanses" or "detoxifications". The science just isn't there to support the claimed benefits. There's no regulation over the industry, etc. To each their own, however, so give it a go if this type of thing appeals to you.

I hear ya Hawks. I don't like cleanses and detoxes either (since they are typically diuretics and colon cleansing type things). And while I'm probably not going to do this reset for workout reasons, I have to say (since I actually have a kit in my possession) this is different. It's a total reset system, that does NOT use diuretics, colon cleanses, etc. It's good stuff, and a good plan (including a complete nutrition approach similar to a vegan diet).

Coach, is there any reason to drink water over green tea? I drink probably half the amount of water I should (34oz) and double that in green tea. As that is all I drink bar my protein shakes (again with water) do I need to up the amount of water Im taking? Thanks in advance!

That's a LOT of green tea Danny LOL! There's nothing wrong with that, but you don't need that much. It's definitely overkill. I like to keep things simple. Shakeology. Whey protein. A recovery drink. And lots of whole foods and water. That's all I need :-) There is nothing wrong with green tea, gogi, acai, herbs, etc. etc. etc., but I don't feel I need any of that with the simple fact that I eat whole foods, healthy fruits and veggies, drink Shakeology, and drink lots of water each day. If you simply like it, keep using it. If you are doing it because you think you need that much, it's overkill in my opinion.

Coach - When do you plan on doing this. 21 days without working out is long for us addicts, LOL!

Hey Vivek, I feel ya! That's why I said in the intro above, "In fact, since I’m such a workout-a-holic, I hate the idea of going without working out hard for 21 days. So I may not ever do the Ultimate Reset, even though I’m sure my body could use the detox."

Not something I would want to do, I cant even give up the workouts for one day let alone twenty-one! On the topic of cleansing Coach, what are your thoughts on green tea. I drink a lot of it and Ive never seen you mention it despite its many great qualities?

Hey Danny, green tea is fine. So is black coffee. I just prefer to drink plain water. If you like tea, go for it. Green tea has nice antioxidant qualities.
