wayne anita summit nice croppedHowever, I acknowledge that I cannot be all things to all people.  One thing I’m very proud of is that not only have I transformed myself through the Beachbody workout programs and supplements, but so has my wife Anita.  We have unique insights that we share with the teamRIPPED community.  While I may have started the teamRIPPED community, she has been the “woman behind the man”!  It’s a family affair!  And since we each come at it from a very different perspective, I believe that we can help people with a wide variety of needs to meet a wide variety of goals.  I like going big or going home with the extreme workout programs and a focus on getting ripped and muscular.  Anita likes to approach life with the broader focus on health and well-being, using her fitness and nutrition as tools to better enjoy life.

Coach Anita can provide tips and advice to our teamRIPPED ladies out there!  She’s used P90X, Insanity, P90X Plus, Brazil Butt Lift, and Power 90, Les Mills Pump, Combat, and Turbo Fire.  But her FAVORITE workouts are Chalean Extreme and T25. I had another question after you finished the first 90 days of P90x I saw that you incorporated another round of P90x and insanity.  How did you break it up each week? 1 day P90x and the next day insanity?

I started P90x this past Monday! I am trying to burn fat currently.  I am 5'9 210 lbs.  When I calculated my calories and macros it said I should be eating around 2,400 calories a day.  That seems like a lot of calories when trying to burn fat.  I am at 48% protein, 28% carbs and 24% fats and my calorie intake I dropped to 1900 calories a day.  Should I stick with that or do the 2,400 that P90x nutrition guide tells me to do?

@ShaunClark1  No, I would go to 1900. That is a nice deficit and will be much better suited for your goals of fat loss. Fat Shredder percentages is perfect too!

@Daniel  Hey Daniel! No problem, I have many international people that become "unofficial members" of teamRIPPED :-)


I would try to move your macros to at least 50%P / 20%C / 30% F. Is there any reason you  are dropping carbs so low?  Even normal Fat Shredder (50/30/20) is low at 30% carbs!


I would hold your deficit and macros until you are within 1-2% of your BF goal or you stop losing weight and body fat. We can adjust if/when that happens. You don't have to change nutrition plans on the phases. Only when you body composition goals change.

Coach Wayne,

Was in decent shape a year and a half ago after doing a boot camp. Now I am back up to 200 lbs at 5' 11" and 47 years old. So a little doughy and certainly not super strong at this point.

Trying to decide if I should jump into p90x3 or just try the new p90 first. I can probably do 10-12 pushups and I know that the fitness test has you starting with 15.

Would you suggest starting with p90 just to avoid burnout and injury for someone starting up again but who is not a complete novice to fitness? Thanks

@CoachWayne @PilotJeff Yep, I did thanks! P90X3 for me! Bought a pullup bar, and new cross trainers for some motivation. Looking close at your nutrition pages. Still having trouble figuring out calories for a fat shredder current: 5' 11" 198 lbs.  In the past I think I used something like 1750 for cals, and that worked but found I was running out of gas during workouts. 


The p90x3 book I believe says 2400 cals for me with a 40/30/30 ratio. I see that you are recommending following a fat shredder instead (50/30/20) and cutting the calories. Wonder why the nutrition guide recommends the higher calories...  I am reluctant to change it around just due to the burnout factor. I could just get active and give it a shot as well..

@PilotJeff @CoachWayne  Sent you an email back. I think X3 starts a lot of people too high, especially considering the 30 minute workouts. Let's start a 2000 and see what it does. We can adjust from there and dial it in to a good cut but still plenty of energy.

Hey Coach Wayne, I have a question for you... I just finished the first phase of P90x, going into my 5th week tomorrow, no cheat meals..... anyways I took my 30th day pic and I looked at my first day pic, and honestly I didn't see much of a difference... however when I look at the mirror I see somewhat of a difference... my abs show a little bit more "can't get those damn lower abs to show lol " ... and I lost 10lbs, now weigh 170... did you have this problem in your first month?

my name is Alex. I´m from Frankfurt / Germany, so I can´t get Beachbody account and can´t get a coach. :(
 I´ve already bought P90X and Insanity some time ago and did one round of P90X about two years ago. Since I did not get my nutrition right, I got fitter but not ripped. Since I startet studying next to my job,  I lost the results again. Last February I was in Florida on vacation and saw the beachbody commercials. I got motivated again and bought the Body Beast programm and a bench. The programm seemd perfect for me since I always liked the lifting parts most and the workouts are shorter so I can do it while studying. I´m planning to start a round in April after my exams. I´ve read to your whole site an hope you can give me short tipp even if I can´t get you as a coach?
I´m at 14,7 % body fat at 80,1 kg an 178 cm. My plan is to do a round of body beast huge an use your 1900 cal. fat shredder plan to cut some of that fat and use MyFitnessPal to track my nutrition. Can you give me a hint, if my planning is right or do would this be totally wrong?

@CoachWayne Nothing to be sorry about. I´ve to say "thank you" for this great site and all the tipps you give out for free. I have started on March 28th Beast and love it. I´m at exercise day 58 now. I need some days to study in between so can´t get through it in the time the plan says but I do what can. I feel fitter already and can see my body starting to change. The 1900 fat shredder is a little to hard for me. In the first days after a workout I couldn´t study anymore. The brain wants fuel to and I needed to add some carbs. So I stopped the fat shredder and began to listen to what my body needs. I try to stay between 1900 an 2200 calories a day. Which works great at the moment. I also try many different foods and use MFP to track them so I can see what works makes me feel good.

Next plan is a 2nd round of Beast after the 3rd phase and think with what I learnd already the 2nd round will work even better. :)


So thanks again for all the tipps on your side. It´s a great help to start into a healthier life :)

Hey coach i am 6'3 300 lbs. I completed a round of p90x and got down to 300 lbs from 350 lbs. i am currently 3 weeks into Body Beast. Should i add creatine into my routine now? I currently am only drinking whey protien. Would adding creatine help with weight loss and build muscle at the same time or would it slow my weight loss down? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

@G rudd Creatine is totally fine to add. It will not slow fat loss at all. Just keep dialed in on your nutrition and don't follow the Book of Beast. That will add weight and BF. Run a deficit with Beast. Great work and keep it up!

@Mina Safwat Do you have access to a Beachbody program, like P90X? Lifting weights and resistance training will be the best tool to add muscle. Let me know and we can figure out a plan!

hi coach !!!! currently i am doing insanity asylum ... i had completed insanity 1 year back ... since then i got fluffy and gained 45 lbs in one year ( due to a travelling job , i never got a chance to stay at home or eat anything healthy ) .... i still have the stamina i used to have .... so thats why i am starting insanity asylum ... since it has both weight training and HIIT, i decided to take both whey and fat burner ... plz reccomend a schedule for when to take fat burner in my day as i am taking protein after workout and before bed !!!

@siddarth I actually pass on fat burner pills. They don't give you that much of an advantage to really spend the money on them. I would your whey as a snack. Any time is fine. I like it as a late night snack a lot. Great to get protein in before bed.

hi coach wayne , so my plan is to follow insanity's schedule every day and just do the weight lifting from p90x at alternate days .... my bmr is 2000 calories and i consume 1200-1500 each day ... i want to lose fat and build lean muscle at the same time ... i am 208 lbs and i want to be around 180 lbs with full body toned and muscle definition ... but at this calorie intake would i be able to gain muscle and lose fat simultaneously ? and wouldnt the muscle gained by p90x be lost by doing insanity ? plz help
