What's your view on the Ironmaster adjustable dumbbells and their superbench. I'm outgrowing the vinyl weights I've got and the bigger ones (designed for barbells instead of dumbbells) are getting too bulky. Have been interested in the Bowflex 1090's but I'd be afraid in case I dropped them. Was considering Olympic weights too but take up to much room and will be expensive new. The folding bench that I have is said to be good up to 100kgs.
We don't have craigs list in the uk.....
peterrogers15 I have never dropped my Selecttechs. I don't know if that should really be a concern. I don't have Ironmasters but from what I have seen, they are rock solid. They are slow to change (moving plates, adding/subtracting weights in your head/etc). But if you are ok with the time to change weights, they are almost as solid as real dumbbells.
Is there much difference between the powerstands and the push up bars? Can I use the push up bars as an alternative to the powerstands in some exercises?
Definitely John! Powerstands are just a super-deluxe push up stand. The really unique feature is the round bottom. No rolling on really wide push ups.
Coach Wayne, I've had my eyes on a pair of bowflex select tech dumbells, but they're sooooo expensive. I've tried to look for other brands of similar adjustable weights, but the pictures online make everything I find look so cheap. If I'm gonna spend the money, I want a good quality set of "select tech" type dumbells, can you reccommend a brand to look for or what I might look into? I'm outgrowing the weights I own and need something soon to up my game :) BRINGIN IT! Trevor
Hey Trevor, the Bowflex are my favorites, but Powerblocks are just as good (probably a bit more expensive than Bowflex though). Keep an eye out with Craigs List and maybe you can find a used set.
Hi coach Wayne. Is it OK to do ab's first before a workout? while your fresh? It seems like after a hard workout I have a problem focusing on my ab's Thanks
Hey Lane! Yes, you can do the Ab Ripper X anytime as long as you do it the same day. You can do it before, immediately after, or at an entirely different time of day. The key is getting it done!
mmm well i have had them since last year and a half so i thought they just "expired", luckily me i didn't expire with them lol...
To all the teamripped community!!! be EXTREMELY cautious when using lifestyle adjustable weights, or similar ones like the pais i show: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41w-556Ix-L._SL500_AA300_.jpg Just today i was doing P90X Shoulders & Arms and when doing the deep swimmer's one of the weigths rolled out, thank god it wasn't in the middle of the triceps extensions or it may have fallen in my face.
Hey Alberto, sounds like your pair is defective. Definitely return them for new ones. They shouldn't ever do that. Glad you didn't have it fall on your foot or anything (ouch!).
Oh, AWESOME JJ!!! I'm glad you corrected me!! They must have just added those in the last couple days cuz they had said that (at least for the time being) they weren't going to sell the items separately. That makes my life a lot easier now! Thanks man!
Are we able to purchase foam rollers or medicine balls through your site? I didnt see them listed here and couldn't find them in the teambeachbody store. I'd really like you to get credit for as much of my gear as possible. Thanks! :)
Thanks for asking Kay, but no, Beachbody isn't selling medicine balls or foam rollers as separate items (at least not at this time). They only sell them as part of the P90X2 packages. I'd recommend looking on Amazon. Good brands would be Valeo for the med balls and Rumble Roller for the foam roller. Hope that helps!
This looks like a great product... Ive had a makeshift version of it for a while now. I tied a rope to my pullup bar, and connected several bike innertubes on it for me to step onto, while I pull up, and it seems to help me a lot. I had 6 popped tubes from all the cycling I did. Well anyway, I think anything to get you back on the bar is great either way., since im a beginner as well, 26 days in. God bless.
What do you think of the "Chin-Up Max" pullup assist thingy, it of its self, and also compaired to a good old chair, is it something you think is worth it, and what are some of the benifits of using it over a chair?
Hey Nathan, good question. The Chin Up Max assist didn't exist back when I started so I used the old chair technique. If they'd have had this, I'd have used it. The chair still works fine though. The pull up assist helps your body stay in a better position and the "aid" is more uniform than using your leg, but honestly it just depends on your budget and if you want the slightly nicer assist to use. I got to play with it a little on the set of the P90X2 shooting and it is a well-made piece of equipment. But I don't have one myself since I don't need the assist anymore.
Also, I was wondering about taking creatine. My goal is to gain lean muscle mass and cut my body fat % to get "ripped". However, it's my understanding that creatine causes your muscles to retain water...is taking creatine during my get lean phase counter productive? Again, thanks!
Hey Eddie! I take my R/R formula after any intense workout that depletes me, which is lifting and cardio in most cases. And creatine has no ill- effects on cutting body fat, so go ahead and use it. Due to the water retention, the scale may not keep going down as fast, but the body fat will!
Hey Coach, Wondering if you take the recovery supplement even after non-resistance workouts. I've stricky been taking mine after lifting but not after cardio workouts bc I thought I might be wasting it...what are your thoughts? Thanks!!
Another good gear is the five finger shoes. With those shoes you don't need a yoga mat or anything. They are so awesome.
didnt know really where to post this... the teamripped shirt your wearing on home page, are you going to make those avail. to purchase?
