Weight loss success is what all of us that were overweight when we started wanted. With TONS of people starting DAY 1 of a program on teamRIPPED today, I thought this would be a great post to bump to the top of the blog. It’s a longer read, but there is a lot of GOLD and experience from me and all of teamRIPPED!

Some of us had a lot of failure in the area of weight loss. I know I did! I tried a lot. I did the whole “all fat is bad” dieting. Anything that read “No-Fat” on the box was good to go LOL I tried some CrossFit. I even tried Tae Bo! None of those did it for me… but finally I made a decision to go all in with P90X! And the rest is really history!

So looking back on my journey and many others’ journeys from teamRIPPED, I saw a lot of similarities. I want to help each and every person that comes to teamRIPPED learn from my mistakes. So let’s go through some keys to weight loss success.

Total Commitment to Your Plan for Weight Loss

This might be a little intangible, but everyone that has had great weight loss success with teamRIPPED can look back and remember when it was finally game on! No excuses, they knew this time was the time. Maybe they failed at getting past 30 days of P90X countless times. Or maybe every time a big life event happened they would give up on their nutrition plan. But this time it was different. They KNEW that there was no way they’d compromise this time. It was time to win!

For a lot of us, it is finally coming to terms with a reason WHY that is bigger than our excuses. For other people, it is a wake-up call from a doctor or even a tragic event in our lives. I wish I could nail it down for everyone! I wish I could put that same drive in each and every person. Finding the Right Program

Now let me start out and say, ANY Beachbody program is better than no program. Period. So don’t get hung up on finding a perfect program. That can trip a lot of people up. If you have P90X and can’t afford a new program right now, then P90X is the right program! If you don’t have the space for all the Body Beast equipment, no worries, do Max 30!

What you do want to do if you have some options is pick and commit to 1 program that really gets you fired up! If you hate yoga-ish stuff (ummm me lol!) then PiYo might not be the best program for you right now! If you can’t stand Tony Horton, that’s ok and he might not be your trainer. You want to look forward to what you are doing for the next 90, 60, 30, or 21 days.

I really tend to direct people to programs with some strength training. I believe you always get the best results with lifting some weights. Adding a little muscle will help you so much. It will burn more calories and fat, make you less prone to injury, and give you a fuller/healthier look. There’s no need to cardio yourself to death!

Nutrition for Weight Loss Success

This is where it can get real for a lot of people. What you have been doing isn’t working otherwise you wouldn’t want to make a change! For me, if eating queso and chips got you ripped, I would have been ripped along time ago :-) It will be making some big changes, but your WHY is bigger than any of those changes. Here is how you plan for weight loss success with nutrition.

  • Tracking!

If you don’t know what you are eating and how much it’s too easy to overeat. Even on good food! Probably the best tool out there is MyFitnesspal.com. It’s free, well respected, great app, it just works. But you have to do the work! I have written over and over on this topic. So you NEED to see: Nutrition TrackingMFP Set Up, and Common Nutrition Tracking Errors. Plan your days in advance to start and stick with them. If you don’t track it, don’t eat it! No guessing.

  • Cook in BULK

This helps so much! I think the best bulk cooking to do is with your protein sources. Cooking or grilling up a bunch of chicken is a really easy way to have protein for all your lunches or dinners. Same with any staples like rice. Just cook it up, weigh out what you need, and heat it up when ready! Saves tons of time!

  • Food Supplements

Things like whey protein and even Shakeology also help a lot. You all know why I love Shakeology! It covers all my nutritional bases, keeps me full, helps my digestion tons, and tastes great! I use it as a super easy breakfast. Adding a scoop of ISO 100 protein and I start each day with the best nutrition you can get and a solid blast of protein. Protein bars can help too. Don’t make them the foundation of your diet but keep one in your bag just for emergencies. You won’t grab junk if you have an option!

Using whey in your day is an easy way (pun-y I know…) to make sure you hit your protein goals. It can be tough to hit 200g-225g+ of protein if you are on Fat Shredder. So getting 20-40g out of a whey protein supplement is just easy. On the go it’s simple too. All you need is a shaker cup and water. Sets you up for weight loss success!

Weight Loss Success Depends on YOU!

Success with weight loss all boils down to you. Either you are going to commit and do it, or you aren’t. Little bumps in the road happen and I will be there to help you! But it’s on you. Are you going to push play every day or aren’t you? Are you going to get your nutrition plan set and stick with it? Tracking? That’s on you! I can’t make you put down the junk food. I can encourage you! And show you how, but you have to do it.
