Hey teamRIPPED nation!!
Check
out our own Mike C., who just wrapped up filming for the new Insanity commercials! Way to represent us with some swagger dude!
How is everyone’s summer going? I hope you are staying busy, active, and enjoying it! The days are longer, and I have been enjoying that extra time in the evening to play with the kids outside (it sure beats winter when it’s dark as I leave work!!)
These past couple weeks, I’ve been covering some secondary topics like diet pop, fat burners, and how to deal with loose skin. They aren’t the cornerstones of the programs, but they are important to know about. So if you are curious about my take on those topics, look back over the past weeks’ articles!
I have all the main cornerstones that EVERYONE should know in my tabs above. Be sure you are very familiar with the “Nutrition Tips / Sample Diets” section because that is the key to losing body fat and building muscle! And be sure you’ve read through the “Getting Started Right” tab because it has the keys to accountability and motivation.
Everyone in the US should have received their X2 Crew shirts, but if you haven’t email me and let me know (coachwayne@teamripped.com). Some may have been delayed a bit. Those who are overseas — yours are also on their way but it takes so much longer for them to arrive, so be patient!! It can be a couple extra weeks. For those asking, we are NOT planning a third run of X2 Crew shirts so if you didn’t order in the first run …. or the second run …. you are out of luck. Sorry! But as we plan future challenges and do shirts for them, I’ll post about it on the site. Be sure you stay plugged in so you don’t miss out!
You can definitely still order teamRIPPED shirts, as we always offer those. CLICK HERE to learn more about those.
Beachbody’s big annual “Summit” meeting is a week and a half away, and I anticipate that immediately following that meeting I will be able to share specifics about the Body Beast program (pricing, release date, supplement availability, etc), so stay tuned because I will tell you everything I know as soon as I can!
Check out these 90 day P90X2 results from Mark H., who is 50 years young! This is awesome stuff man! Congrats!!
My parents are both doing the Beachbody Ultimate Reset, so I’m getting daily updates on their progress. They are in the second week. The meal prep is very time intensive (that’s my mom’s biggest complaint so far). They both report that they haven’t been hungry at all, and the food has been very tasty. They both feel good, and my dad especially has lost a lot of weight. It’s great that they are doing it together because it’s hard to stick with something this regimented if you are doing it alone. Once they finish the 21 days, I’ll pass along their review of it.
Oh, and one last thing ……… GO THUNDER!!!!!! :-)
And 2 favors that I ask:
1) If you like the hard work I put into writing my articles and videos, PLEASE help me out by sharing them. Click the share links below them and share them on FB, twitter, etc. It really helps me get more exposure and grow teamRIPPED!
2) Also, as always, remember that the way I benefit from being your coach is that I earn a commission from any Beachbody products that you purchase, as long as you buy them through my site, www.teamRIPPED.com, or by logging in to www.teambeachbody.com to do your shopping (If you buy from the plain beachbody site I get no credit). It helps with the amount of time I spend answering all your questions and helping you out. Thank you! I really appreciate it!
Keep bringing it and inspiring others to do the same gang!!
Get Job Mike C.! I want to get into the Body Beast Infomercial! Im going to work my butt off to see if I can get a spot! Coach Wayne your always the man! lol Keep up the good work bro!
Hey Coach and everyone at TeamRipped. Well, Im on day 2 of my p90x journey and I cant lie, I'm wonderin what the heck I was thinking lol. That doesnt mean I want to give up but it just reminded me that I will have to seriously dig deep and "bring it". I did p90x in the past but have never given 100% mainly with my diet. I would cheat hear and there thinking that it was ok but it wasnt. I got good results but I just kept makin excuses. Then I had to have oral surgery and it just through my healthy lifestyle for a loop. Due to complications I couldnt workout for a few weeks. Now that I am fully healed I rededicated myself and with GOD's help found this website. What really opened my eyes was when I read the "excuses" blog. I realized that its perfectly normal to wake up and think "oh man I dont want to do this right now". I learned that Im not gonna want to do this everyday at five in the morning, and Im not gonna be all happy go lucky about it either. But you know what? I feel like a champ after im done. So these last couple of days Ive reminded myself of what it feels like after your done. I know it will take a couple of weeks to really get in the swing of things so im just makin sure I get up a push play. Thats all im focusing on right now. I WILL NOT FAIL. I feel it this time. Im gonna be a success story! Wish me luck guys. Day 3 tomorrow...Im bringin it! PS Im excited cause I made a really great meal plan that fits everything i need to complete this program. I think that was the main problem last time. I was using the portion plan and I just didn't feel right. I started on 6-18-12 at 192 pounds at 20%bf. I am 5 foot 10 inches tall. BTW Coach...I live in San Antonio LOL GO SPURS GO. The Thunder played a great series and I am rooting for them to whooop up on the heat.
Awesome coach thanks, I'm taking in a ton of water, I'm get a Lil tired around 3pm but it's a combo of waking up at 4:30 and the sun beating on my head. The whole reason I started p90x again is because I knew my work load was gonna change and I knew it would help my performance, I just didn't think about the 2 together being a huge strain on my body, I'm making it tho feel pretty good and the workouts are easier this week than last
What's up coach got some updates and need your opinion I started p90x on 6/10/12 I was 245 and before I started I was eating like a hog whatever I wanted drinking soda. Well I weighed this morning and I weighed in at 229 and I lost 5.5 % body fat in 9 days now I have some people telling me that's too much too fast but IM not doing anything unhealthy. The week I started p90x my job physically changed tremendously I went from riding around in a truck all day to working in the sun all day on asphalt swinging hammers and lifting heavy tires all day. With that I bumped up my calories from the 1900 that you recommend to hovering around 2100. Now if you take into effect the extreme life change with diet, workout, and work the 16 lbs loss is understandable. So I would like to know you're opinion on my situation and what do you think about my calorie intake? I'm 6'3 by the way
Scotty - An an increase of 200 calorie would be a good place to start. That is a little over a 10% increase (good place to start with the new daily activity). See how you feel and make sure you are drinking water at work! A lot of water! If you are getting too tired as work and feel it is affecting your job performance, try another 100-200 calorie bump.
Great joke there at the end coach! lol I will be there to hold you when you cry this one out! lol On a side note, Happy Fathers day to all you dads out there!!
hey coach, quick question i try to stay away from cereals,(high in carbs and sugar) but i do sometimes snack on dry cherrios and kashi. a friend of mine (who is a BB fan like us) said tony h bashed kashi as not as healthy as you think.. you anything about it. he said it was on one of tonys video confern. i cant find it. kashi hits that crunch i crave, and its high in protein.. what u think?
Mike - I have used Cheerios and Kashi in my nutrition plans. Kashi can be misleading with the way they represent carbs (subtracts out fiber). If it fits in your plan and helps hit that craving, I would still eat it.
Ha ha, Rocky in the sense of using what I have available :) Im excited about finally tying the knot but I have 7 weeks of free time before that happens. As we are staying ourselves it means we are cooking for ourselves so I can control my food there, the problem comes when we go visiting my fiances extended family (there is A LOT) as they tend to serve platters of meats/breads along with vodka (as opposed to here in the UK where we would have tea and biscuits as the equivalent). I was happy to oblige when we were over a few years ago but its all change now... Cheers Coach!
We are staying in an old farmhouse in the middle of nowhere, Im hoping for a bar/pipe I can use but I wont know until I get there which is why Im checking out my options now. It was hard enough getting a lend of the dumbbell set, hopefully I can keep it for the whole 8 weeks, if not I may end up training like Rocky in Russia :) Im worrying more about tracking nutrition without MFP than I am about getting married :) Thanks again for you help!
LOL! You won't have any snow to run through or Russian's to chase you though. Worry about that marriage. Well don't worry, get excited! If you know roughly what food will be available and what you are going to eat, pre-plan days in MFP and print them out.
Sorry, another question, As I wont be able to take my pull-up bar I am taking my resistance band (I only have one left as the rest have snapped) although I dont get much of a pump off of it. Is there any exercises that work the same muscles that I could do with dumbells (which I can get a lend of)? Thanks again...
It is really hard to replace a pull up. Bent over rows, lawnmowers, and back flys will work your back and use dumbbells, but it still won't be completely the same. Is there a park near by? You could just a jungle gym for a pull up bar. :)
Hey Coach, As I said yesterday Im about to start bulking (while on this long holiday) so I had a couple more questions, If I cant fly with supplements (in particular whey protein and creatine) can I still get results sticking to the 50/30/20 carbs/protein/fat ratios? Also, I wont be sticking to the normal P90X structure but wanted to go with 3 lift days, 2 cardio and 2 abs only. What 3 lift programs do you use and what would you use if you only had the P90X program (ie no Insanity/P90X2 etc)? Thanks in advance!
Hey Danny, You can still bulk without supplements. It is all about that calorie surplus. I would take Chest/Back, Shoulders and Arms, and Legs/Back. Rotate them just like month 1.
Coach I have 2 more weeks for my hybrid.. Actually because of my competitive marathon tomorrow I've missed a few days of workout this week (my last workout was Wednesday) because I always get sore glutes after insanity max workouts :-( The momentum is off.. I thought if I start X2 on Monday it will be a great comeback. But I'm concerned that the foundation phase won't be efficient at burning fats so I asked you about nutrition.
Wait until you get into it Vee, but you'll find it's a very effective phase at setting you up for huge gains later. And in fact, if burning fat is your goal, then using a fat shredder diet with the X2 foundation workouts you will see great progress.
Hey coach. I'll be getting my X2 deluxe package on Monday so I don't know whether I should continue with my P90X/insanity hybrid now or to jump straight to X2. I'm really excited to start but I still want to lose more body fat first. My hybrid consists of more cardio so I think it's more efficient than x2 in terms of burning fat? I don't know.. Or is it the nutrition that matters more when it comes to losing fats? Any insights coach? :-)
Vee - You are 100% right. Nutrition is going to be the deciding factor with any program. How much longer do you have in your hybrid? Since you set out to complete the hybrid, I would say finish it. You will then be tackle to tackle X2 with more power as you transition in to a maintenance nutrition plan.
What's up coach got some great news I started p90x Monday along with my diet (no cheating) and I already lost 10 pounds! Down from 245 to 235 hours that for motivation. I know that won't be the case every week but it's a great jump start
Hey coach, do u have a P90X2/Asylum Hybrid Schedule because i was hoping to do that after this round of just P90X2. thanks
BTW, i added you (coach wayne) on MFP and it says that i'm a girl and i don't know how to change that lol, but i can assure you, i'm a boy:)
Hey coach, how can i look at what you've eaten onMFP? can u give me your link or tell me how to get to your profile thing on it. Thanks
thanks for the props coach, dont forget how helpfull you have been to me. talked to shaun t for awhile. nice guy. he did say he is working on something insanity related. like a sequel or something. he said he could not elaborate. he just finished vol 2 of asylum which he said is intense. thanks mike c
FYI-New Body Beast supps are online now. While the ingredient list is not up yet, prices are, with some additional verbiage on what they are about. Fuel Shot looks promising-both a pre and post drink. The rest, especially the pricing, not so sure.
Can't wait to hear the details on Body Beast Coach Wayne! When I first started P90X, I always thought a DVD workout program to follow while working out the "old fashion" way would be great. Following Tony and you in the X2 in those DVDs helps motivate and allows many of us not to feel "alone and bored" when working out! Body Beast will be a big hit for those wanting to bulk up. BTW, can't wait to see some pics and maybe a short clip of the champion getting his belt! You deserve CW and keep doing what you are doing.....inspiring us in all aspects of life... even beyond the fitness programs! King Mavrick.. he's in denial and afraid to accept the truth BTW!
Oh man, I haven't been this excited about the NBA Finals... ever! I hope it goes to 7 games... Go THUNDER!!!! .... But at the same time, and I'm sure some of the TeamRipped clan will disagree, STOP WITH ALL THE LEBRON HATE!! He made a FEW mistakes... courtesy mistakes... he didn't kill anyone, he didn't get arrested... he is a good dude and a great representative of the NBA... not to mention being the best player in the world... he made a few mistakes when he was young, everyone (especially the media)... GET OVER IT!! OK, rant over, keep bringing it TR!!
Hey Coach, thanks again for your articles. i've been meaning to ask you if you can write one with your opinion on orthorexia (dnt know if uve heard the term). like you ive been tracking stuff down for about a year with myfitnesspal but it was only recently due to stress and work i temporarily stopped and felt like going mad not being able to track things down/feeling disappointed/binging... anyway, i managed to get myself in a healthy state of mind again but i imagine this isnt something only i have faced. hope to read something from you soon. take care, GO HEAT
@ioannis - You're right, I have never heard of orthorexia. I think that would be something to look into with your doctor. I would not be able to give you the type of information or help that they would. Good luck!
Hey Dominic, there are challenges going all the time. Look in the "getting started right" tab to join one of our FB challenge groups. We have private challenge / accountability groups going for each of the workout programs.
Hey coach, Since I moved back home to my hometown, my family and friends have been commenting on how much weight I've lost and how healthy I look. I've lost 65 pounds so far and I can see a huge difference in my physique and stamina and etc. My sister is a few years older than me and noticeably been gaining some pounds each time I visit her. She was complimenting me a lot on my journey and how I was able to resist Round Table Pizza with all the appetizers and cake for my birthday and ate salad instead. Okay, enough bragging here... How do I approach her to do P90X and follow a structured nutrition plan like I've been doing? I hate not doing anything to help people, especially my sister. She's one of those hard-headed people that doesn't ask for help. How do you know where to stop before crossing the line of "pressing" the issue? I just know she'd do really well if she can do this. Thanks.
Michael - Just always approach from an area of concern and understanding. You wan the best for your sister and that is good thing. You aren't there to make her feel bad about herself (not that you ever would). Just talk to her and tell her how you care about her. There are other options too you could read up about and tell her about (Ten Minute Trainer, ChaLEAN, TurboFire). Good luck and I hope it goes well! She is very fortunate to have a brother that cares and is willing to have an uncomfortable conversation.
Hey Coach Wayne, Can't wait for you to come back from the BB summit with info on Body Beast, yah baby! :) Gideon
Hey Coach.. I am currently planning to ditch the CrossFit idea for three reasons: it's too expensive every month, there is something called rhabomyolysis which can be caused from overly fatigued muscles, and finally, my school has an amazing and free weight training program that may give me equal or even better results than CrossFit. Anyways, I will continue to do another around of P90X2 to prepare for weight training at school, and I have a quick question about the 4 ball pushups. During my first round, I only had 2 medicine balls, but I recently bought 2 basketballs to also be used in the program (they are cheaper). Should i put the basketballs under my hands or under my feet during the four pall push up. Thanks.. P.S. GO THUNDERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Brian that is good to hear! I think a huge strength of the BB programs are that they are affordable. Buy them once and they are yours forever (forever... forever.... FOREVER!). X2 will put you in a different league than most weight trainers. I would think that the basketballs would be good under your feet. The med balls offer more stability and I would want that stability under my shoulders for push ups. I would suggest trying both out and feeling the difference. Also note any difference in reps and stability.
Hey Detecks - Mike C. was in the taping of a new infomercial for Insanity. Same great program, new batch of testimonies for some of the people with amazing transformations!
i was all with you Wayne until you said go THUNDER! great article, but we BOTH know miami heat is taking it this year :)
