Our attitude in life controls so much. It can make use have a great day or turn one into one of our worst. Understanding what you can control in your life is a great first step to controlling your attitude. And your attitude is something you can control!
Building a Winning Attitude
A winning attitude might not come naturally, but you can build one! Here’s how in 3 steps:
1. Take my first point to heart: Your attitude is something you control!
You attitude is going to be a product of how you choose to process what happens to you. You have the power to decide how you are going to view the things that happen to you. If you can’t change it, you can change how you think about it. So decide to focus on the positive!
If you have to miss your morning workout due to your kids getting up in the middle of the night, instead of thinking “well my routine is ruined” think “I’ll have to move it around but I’ll crush my workout in the afternoon after having a great lunch/snack and I’ll have tons of energy!” It’s up to you on how you let yourself process it. Pick the positive!
2. Store up some joy!
Make special note and remember the good things. As it pertains to working out, remember how proud and awesome you felt when you did your first unassisted pull ups. Remember how great it was to finally finish your first program.
With nutrition, build up the memories of how great it was to hit your macros DEAD ON for a day. Or how proud you were when you skipped the free junk food at work and stuck to your plan.
When you build a big bank of these memories, they will push you on! (On the flipside, get rid of the negative ones fast. It’s done… get over it and move on. It’s not who you are!)
3. Avoid negativity and whiners!
Don’t let this junk bring you down. I always think of this Bible verse: “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!” Garbage in and garbage out!
If your Facebook feed has a bunch of negative people on it, UNFOLLOW their posts! You don’t have to unfriend them, just get their garbage out of your life. Same with the whiners. I wrote about whiny people not too long ago. Their attitudes can definitely bring you down, so limit your exposure.
Make your life filled with positivity! Like Tony says, drop words like “I can’t” – you “presently struggle with…” You are a winner when you are working for it!
So it’s really up to you! Are you going to decide right now that you will have a winning attitude? I have and I will continue to! Say it with me!
I will make today great!
I chose to see the positive possibilities in my life!
I will bring other people along with my positivity!
