Weekend Update!

Hey teamRIPPED!  How is your week going?  Mine has been great.  I got an awesome gift (see below), got some awesome progress updates from all of you, and got to watch an inspiring preview of the new workout program from Shaun T that will debut this summer.  It’s called T25, and I had seen the short clips of the workouts before.  But what I hadn’t seen is the results that the pilot group achieved — WOW!  The 50 day transformations from T25 really impressed me.  Check it out =

T25 will debut in late June for the masses.  There is currently a larger scale test group going through the program now, so I’m excited to see how they do. 25 minutes per day, 5x per week, 50 days — no more excuses!

Luckily you don’t have to wait for T25 to take your fitness to the limit.  We already have an awesome selection of programs to choose from.  Check out the results of Justin Peacock, one of our teamRIPPED members who just finished up his first round of P90X.  He started at 195 lbs on New Years Day, and now in April he’s 155!  He’s dropped 40 lbs so far in 2013!!!  He is making this HIS YEAR!

justin

Wow!  That’s awesome man!  He is about to start a round of Body Beast to build more muscle mass now that he’s dropped the body fat.  I know he’ll do Whatever it takes to BEAST UP!  Congrats!

I had a buddy from our teamR1PP3D ’13 Challenge group, Paul Z., surprise me with a super cool, Superman Under Armour shirt this week.  Thanks Paul!  I couldn’t wait to wear it for a workout.  It made me feel like the Man Of Steel!

Gotta love the little things that add motivation, like getting something special or giving something special to someone else to encourage them along this journey.  What a TEAM!  Like my kids say, Together Everyone Achieves More — are you plugged in with our TEAM??

Keep working toward your goals.  Dream big — if your goal doesn’t scare you a little, then you aren’t dreaming big enough!!

BRING IT!!

And 2 favors that I ask:

1) If you like the hard work I put into writing my articles and videos, PLEASE help me out by sharing them.  Click the share links below them and share them on FB, twitter, etc.  It really helps me get more exposure and grow teamRIPPED!

2) Also, as always, remember that the way I benefit from being your coach is that I earn a commission from any Beachbody products that you purchase, as long as you buy them through my site, www.teamRIPPED.com, or by logging in to www.teambeachbody.com to do your shopping (If you buy from the plain beachbody site I get no credit). It helps with the amount of time I spend answering all your questions and helping you out. Thank you! I really appreciate it!

Keep bringing it and inspiring others to do the same gang!!

Hey Coach. My mom started P90x yesterday and being that her goal is weight loss, I have put her on the fat shredder diet plan. When seeing what all she eats everyday and showing her what she needs to eat and do to acheive her goal, I noticed that she consumed a lot of Splenda. She has been using this in her coffee and with her tea everyday. Both my parents drink tea and basically only tea. Every time I see them they have a 44oz cup of tea in there hand. When I see them make the tea I notice that they put up to 2 cups or more of Splenda in one gallon of tea. Now to me this just seemed very very wrong. I have been doing beachbody programs for about 9 months now and have been a huge promoter of clean dieting. I told my mom that she need to drop the tea consumption and drink water. I've looked online to see what people have to say about artificial sweeteners like Splenda and have seen many different opinions. I'm just wondering how you feel about artificial sweeteners and there place in a beachbody diet. Also, do you feel that she should completely drop the consumption of tea and drink only water or should she just limit the consumption to a certain amount?

holy cow! the way they made that T25 video is awesome. How they recorded them talking back and forth between their before and after, the production of this program is going to be top notch I'm sure. Can't wait!

@Josh P Hey Josh.  Holy cow!  2 cups of splenda per gallon of tea? Yeah, that is WAY too much.  I am a firm believer that in moderation, a little bit of artificial sweetener isn't going to hurt.  But a "moderate" amount of splenda would be about a tablespoon, not 2 cups.  Tea is okay if it's unsweetened, or with a moderate (not dumptruck load) of sweetener like splenda in it.  You should definitely encourage them to back it WAY down!

@ritchiec87 Nope, you'll have to wait. BB has a test group going right now. But everyone has to wait!

@Darkhand44 Search Alter Ego - UnderArmour and you should be able to find it. They are great shirts!

@kwakubaffoe Regardless of the workout program (Asylum, Insanity, P90X, etc.), you should follow the fat shredder diet if losing body fat is your goal.  You can learn all about it in the "nutrition tips / sample diets" tab.

@prasid123 I'm playing around and having fun, mimicking the pose of the guy (Paul) who gave me the shirt. We all post fun / goofy / cool pics of ourselves in the teamR1PP3D challenge Facebook group.

Just need to clarify, you would say 1 tablespoon would be a reasonable amount to put in a gallon?

Josh P
Josh P

Haha ok thanks coach...I knew full well that it was a crazy amount and I keep telling them that they need to lower it. Thanks for the info

@CoachWayne do I need to be at a defecit if I just want to loose fat but maintain weight?

CoachWayne
CoachWayne moderator

@Josh P I think you could put in a few tablespoons in a whole gallon, but 2 cups is 32 tablespoons! Even 4 would probably be ok for a full gallon.

@kwakubaffoe  The Asylum has a Strength day with weights. I would stick to the program. When we did the Asylum challenge, our team maintained their strength and improved through the program,

kwakubaffoe

@CoachWayne is it possible to lift weights while doing asylum so I keep as much muscle as possible or should I just do the program how it is?

CoachWayne

@kwakubaffoe If you want to maintain weight, you can't run a deficit.  You have to run your maintenance level.  That will, however, make losing body fat very hard and take a long time.  Again, refer to the "nutrition tips / sample diets" tab that I recommended in the last reply.  You'll see a post called "big ripped / small ripped" that answers that question.  In addition, you'll see posts related to how to dial in your nutrition based on your goals (and what your goals should be).
