Fat Shredder? On Thanksgiving? Are you crazy coach? Maybe a little, but why throw away all the work you did at the start of the week on one Thursday meal? I think that’s crazy! In my Coach Check In last week I talked a little about making wise choices. Thanksgiving is definitely a day when you can solidify your healthy lifestyle or shoot yourself in the foot. Again, like I said before, own your decisions this Thanksgiving and Christmas. And be ready to live with the consequences. If you want to cheat, then cheat. But don’t complain that you can’t get that 6 pack you say you want. You haven’t earned it! While we live in a world that has tried to even the playing field in so many other areas of life, our own fitness is not one of them. We all get exactly what we put in.
Fat Shredder on Thanksgiving
One way to make Thanksgiving and your Fat Shredder plan happen is to plan ahead. You probably have a very good idea of what food will be at your Thanksgiving. Maybe your sister always does a green bean casserole and your parents do the turky and potatoes. If you can get your hands on the recipes, you can plug them into MyFitnessPal.com (MFP) and see how they would impact your day. MFP has a recipe section for custom recipes. You enter each ingredient in the amount that the recipe calls for and build the entire recipe. You can save the recipe and use it in you log.
You could really do this for each item that will be on the table. At the end of the day you still have to be honest with your portion sizes and make sure you are hitting your Fat Shredder budgets!
Sample Thanksgiving Fat Shredder Day
Here is what an entire day could look like for a Fat Shredder Thanksgiving. You will notice that I had to do a lot of shuffling of calories to get a BIG Thanksgiving dinner to work with Fat Shredder. I even tried to fit in the typical post Thanksgiving turkey sandwich for dinner. I hope the main thing you see is that you shouldn’t eat like this regularly. Even though I am within my budgets (I saved a little fat to have extra carbs for the pumpkin pie), this isn’t a very balanced day. I have no fruit (luckily Shakeology will cover me for today) and really small snacks. I think I would still enjoy Thanksgiving with this plan though. Check it out:
There you have it. Thanksgiving and Fat Shredder, working together. If you are still worried, here are 5 Keys to make Thanksgiving a success:
- PLAN AHEAD – Work out in the morning and then know each and every thing you are going to eat. No guessing.
- Bring a dish you know you can eat a lot of. – Veggie tray, plain green beans, etc.
- AVOID POTATOES! – Mashed potatoes will sink your carbohydrate budget when you are on Fat Shredder. Be leery of candied sweet potatoes too… normally sweet potatoes can be our friend, not today.
- Drink Shakeology before and TONS of water during. – This is especially important if you think you will be tempted. Loading up on water keep you full longer.
- EAT THAT PROTEIN – I could have made my turkey portions huge! If you want to feel like you are eating a lot, have a lot of breast meat and make sure to take the skin off. I could have dropped a scoop of whey from my evening snack and added even more turkey to lunch or dinner.
I hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving. Enjoy your family and friends and be thankful for all you have!
