I remember how excited I was to get my first bag of Chocolate Shakeology. I was 1 month into my Round 1 transformation, and I was starting to see results, but I wanted to MAXIMIZE my results and had finally pulled the trigger on Shakeology. Honestly, I didn’t really care what it would taste like because that’s not why I was using it. I wanted the health and fitness benefits.
When the bag arrived, I immediately opened it, put a scoop in a glass with some tap water from the sink, stirred it up, braced myself for the magical potion that was about to infuse my body, and ……. YUCK!!! It tasted like tar! I thought, “Well, I’ll keep using it for the benefits, but this taste is gonna make it hard to choke down!”
Now in all fairness, it’s important to note that I also hate the taste of dark chocolate and coffee. Chocolate Shakeology has no artificial flavors, and it gets its natural flavor from actual cocoa beans along with the other ingredients. I was expecting a taste more like the milk chocolate whey protein powders I use, which use artificial flavors and sweeteners. So I was a bit shocked!
I took it home and let my wife try it. To my surprise, she thought it tasted GREAT! The same mix I thought tasted like tar, she said was delicious! I’m sure it had to do with the fact that my wife prefers dark chocolate to milk chocolate, and she also loves coffee.
So the reason I tell you guys this story is because Shakeology has a very specific taste, and you may love it or hate it in its plain form. If you like coffee and dark chocolate, you will probably think it tastes very good. If you think coffee or dark chocolate are gross, you’ll be like me and feel like you are trying to choke down a tar-mixture!
But don’t worry! Even if you are like me and are turned off by dark chocolate or coffee, I’ve come up with a recipe that I really love! I mix 1 scoop of Shakeology with 1 scoop of regular chocolate whey protein and 1 spoonful of natural peanut butter (or PB2 — an all natural peanut powder that saves you a lot of fat and calories and still tastes just like peanut butter). I mix those 3 ingredients in water (18-21 ounces) and ice (21-26 cubes) and …. YUM YUM! I have a delicious, filling, shake that tastes like Reeses.
If you would like to try some Shakeology, just click the link on the right of the webpage (or click right HERE) and fill out the secure form. I’ll send you a sample, along with my recipe sheet. You can also watch how I make my recipe on my YouTube Video.
Oh, and I amost forgot to mention the Greenberry flavor. It is green, and it tastes “green”! LOL! I can definitely taste the wheatgrass / veggie flavor, and even when mixed with fruit and juice, it still tastes like a mix of fruit and veggie. It’s not bad, but it’s not delicious like the Reeses Chocolate Shakeology! So I definitely recommend chocolate.
I hope this little journey into the world of Shakeology taste helps you know what to expect if/when you try it for yourself. And if you don’t like the taste of dark chocolate, TRUST ME …. follow my recipe!!
