On April 1st, the price of the whey formulations of Shakeology (regular chocolate and greenberry) are going to increase from $119 to $129 retail ($89 to $97 coach price). This will make them the same price as the vegan formulations. If you use the vegan formulations, there is no change. But if you currently use the regular chocolate or greenberry, YOU CAN LOCK IN AT THE CURRENT PRICE for L-I-F-E and I’m going to tell you how so read on!
I want to give y’all a heads up on some news regarding a PRICE CHANGE FOR SHAKEOLOGY.
The whey formulations of Shakeology (regular chocolate and greenberry) currently cost $119 retail. The vegan formulations cost $129 retail. The price of Shakeology has been the same ($119) since it’s inception over 4 years ago, despite the fact that it has undergone several improvements and enhancements in it’s formulation (which costs money).
Inflation and costs have caught up with us to the point that a bump in price was inevitable. The options were either to raise the price of regular Shakeology to $129 (making all formulations the same price), or start charging shipping on all Shakeology HD orders.
I was part of the decision making process on this matter, and I was emphatic that we don’t want to charge shipping for HD orders. Free shipping is a big deal to me, and I’m sure it’s a big deal to all of you as well. The other members of the Coach Advisory Board agreed.
The decision was made to raise the price of regular Shakeology from $119 to $129 – now all flavors are the same price. But we still get free shipping on HD. This makes sense to me because the whey formulation of Shakeology is now every bit as advanced as the vegan formulation, only with a different protein source (whey isolate instead of brown rice protein). Everything else in the formulation is identical. So it only makes sense that it would be the same price.
Here’s the point for you guys to take from this, though. Beachbody is waiting until April 1st to implement the price change, and so we have a whole month to plan. ANYONE who is already on a Home Direct order of Shakeology will have that price LOCKED IN forever as long as you stay on that order. In other words, if you are a fan of regular chocolate Shakeology, you can order it on HD before April 1st and you won’t be affected. You will be grandfathered in to that price as long as you wish to stay on Shakeology HD for regular Chocolate.
Because I care and value your loyalty to me and teamRIPPED, I’m telling you all of this now, over a month ahead of time, because I want to give you plenty of time to get your Shakeology order locked in on HD at the current price for life. You won’t be affected at all by the price change.
Ultimately, we all wish prices could stay the same forever. But inflation happens. That’s life. Costs increase. For some perspective, when Beachbody first launched Shakeology several years abo, gas prices were less than $2… How much do you pay for gas now?? As fuel and transportation costs go up over time, that impacts every raw ingredient price and has resulted in annual shipping rate increases. It’s always tough to deal with a price increase, but Beachbody has done all they can do to deliver Shakeology with uncompromising quality and at a consistent value over a long period of time. I appreciate that Beachbody is giving us enough heads up that those of us who want the current price can lock it in and ensure we keep it despite the fact that for long term viability the price has to go up a few bucks.
An important component of keeping the locked in price will be that your order must remain active. You can’t put it on hold or cancel it. You CAN change between bags and packets, or change from flavor to flavor, and keep the locked in price as long as you keep your order active without cancelling it.
And if you ever want info on how to save money on your Shakeology with a coach account, send me an email at email@example.com and I can explain to you how that works. The retail price you can lock in at is $119, but the coach price is $89.
I’m definitely going to lock in a couple bags of chocolate Shakeology (since that’s my favorite) at the current price.
Really, the only people that will complain are those who aren’t paying attention for the next month and then realize they missed their chance to lock in the lower price. For the rest of us, it doesn’t change anything. But I definitely want to let you know now so you won’t be surprised later.
And just as an FYI, I offer free samples of Shakeology if you’d like to try one. Just click the link on the right menu bar. Beachbody also offers a “Bottom of the Bag” guarantee if you use an entire month’s supply and aren’t totally satisfied.
Shakeology is truly the best nutrition supplement available, anywhere, and that’s why it costs more than cheap meal replacement shakes. Sure you can get things like Visalus or Isagenix for $50-$60. Heck, Beachbody has their own Meal Replacement Shake that retails for only $39 (It’s actually higher quality and less expensive than the competitor’s meal replacement shakes). But you get what you pay for. And I wouldn’t use any of those as part of my nutrition plan. I’d rather pay 3x as much for something 20x better. That’s what I get with Shakeology. My health and my fitness are definitely worth it!
Below are the FAQ’s from Beachbody (which I think I’ve summarized already above, but just in case you have further questions) =
I heard the price of Shakeology is going up. Is that true?
– Yes. Effective April 1, 2013, the price of Chocolate (regular ONLY) and Greenberry will increase by $10—from $119.95 to $129.95.
When does the price increase go into effect?
– April 1, 2013
How does this affect cost per serving?
– Currently, the cost per serving (to a customer) is about $4.00. That will only increase by 33 cents to $4.33—which is still in line with daily cost of a Starbucks® latte, Naked® fruit drink, or other routine purchase. Only Shakeology is a WAY better value.
How much will I save by locking in the original price on HD?
– $22/month! ($10 per order + $12 on shipping and handling)
Will the increase affect bags, single-serve packets, and combo packs?
– Yes. All of the above.
Which Shakeology flavors will be affected?
– ONLY Chocolate (regular) and Greenberry. The price ($129.95) of our Vegan flavors will not change.
Will the price increase affect Challenge Packs?
– No. Challenge Pack prices will not change after April 1st, regardless of which Shakeology flavor your customer chooses. However, after the initial Challenge Pack purchase, the monthly price will be $129.95.
I’m already on HD for Chocolate or Greenberry. Will I be subject to the price increase?
– Good news! If you’re already on HD for either Chocolate or Greenberry (or alternating), you will NOT be affected by price increase. You’ll continue to pay $119.95/month for life—as long as you never cancel your HD subscription.
I bought Shakeology before, but I’m not currently on HD. Will I be able to lock in the original price after April 1st?
– No. Whether you purchased previously or not, if you’re not on HD before April 1, 2013, you will be subject to the new price. In fact, after April 1st, ALL new one-time purchases and HD subscriptions will cost $129.95.
Why is the price of Shakeology going up?
– We’re raising the price for three reasons: 1) to counteract the rising costs of fuel, shipping, and ingredients, 2) so we can continue to offer FREE shipping with HD orders, and 3) to preserve the integrity of our ingredients (rather than skimping or ordering from lower quality sources).
Hey coach quick question, would u recommend shakeology before working out in the morning on an empty stomach? Or what time of day would u say gets the best out of u to workout in the morning, if so how early before the workout should I drink my shakeology? Thanks!
Thanks @CoachWayne Just got back on the HD program. Can't wait to start drinking it again.
I will frequently switch from the packets to the bag, staying with the same flavor though. As long as shipments are never stopped will that still be something I can do?
I have been using Shakeology for almost two years and it is hands down the best bang for the buck. Breakfast consists of (right after working out) 2 scoops of whey one scoop of Shakeology one scoop of Piracetam, 2 liver pills, 2 glutamin pills when needed and a 1/2 cup of oatmeal. I am set with a perfect macro blend for my first meal. I am never walking away from Shakeology as it is my insurance policy to a great healthy lifestyle.
Coach I just got the same weighted vest as you. At least I think it's the same, it's the ZFOSports 40lb version. How do you keep your clean?
Is there any plans to release Shakeology in the UK? And coaching opportunities in UK? I'm spreading the word and a number of people are on board but my hands are tied Pete Rogers
Have you ever tried iedealshape meal replacement? Stacks up pretty well against shakeology at a much more resonable price.
Yeah you can delete my comments. Definitely doesn't make it seem like you're just trying to move a $130 product to the same team members every month. It's not like you win big in that situation.
Stopped drinking Shakeology a few months ago. Feel EXACTLY the same except without the intestinal distress. My lifts are going up, body fat is down, haven't suddenly started getting sick... This sure won't bring me back.
Will i have to cancel HD and lose my deal if i change locations (moving) and therefore having to change my mailing address?
If you're on HD, it's locked... what's the big deal? I mean, inflation happens everywhere. Look at normal food prices. I am keeping mine locked in!
Coach Wayne, I am currently on HD Chocolate, if I become a coach, do I have to cancel that HD and start anew or will the discount be applied automatically?
@Emilio Bravo Not really. Send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and I can tell you all I know about getting it internationally.
@LanderosAdrian I would work out on an empty stomach and then have Shakeology post workout for breakfast. If you have tons of time in the AM, you could do it first, but I have never had that much time. So I get up, workout, and then have Shakeology.
@ErikWebb "An important component of keeping the locked in price will be that your order must remain active. You can’t put it on hold or cancel it. You CAN change between bags and packets, or change from flavor to flavor, and keep the locked in price as long as you keep your order active without cancelling it."
@peterrogers15 BB is always working to expand. With Canada underway, I am sure they are seeing how that is functioning and using it to look into other countries. No news to report though, and no dates or ideas of a timeline.
@Jasonjyoung I have heard of it. It's not whole foods, it has artificial sweeteners, and uses GMO soy.... sorry but it doesn't begin to compare to Shakeology. Just because two things may have simple macro nutrient breakdowns doesn't mean they are equal. The extremely bio-available, whole food based micro nutrients in Shakeology are really what sets it apart. It's the quality of ingredients that sets Shakeology above the rest.
@Jasonjyoung Everyone has to pay state sales tax on their orders. Yes. It will vary slightly depending on your state.
@Jasonjyoung Take a look at your invoice that comes with your order. If you are using either chocolate or greenberry, the retail price you are being charged is $119. If you are using the vegan formulas, you are being charged $129.
If you are on HD (home direct auto ship) your shipping charge is $0. If you are ordering an individual order each month there will be shipping of $10 or so.
Every state charges sales tax, which varies from 8-10% depending on which state you are in.
Does that answer your question?
No one deleted your comments Brian. Your comment from today is right below, along with my response.
The only other comment I show you ever made on my site was in response to an article I wrote about how to plan your snacks. You wrote, "OR, skip breakfast intentionally and don’t bother slavishly planning 35+ small meals a week."
Were there any others I missed? :-)
Hope that helps!
Honestly, I am a coach and I agree with Brian and I don't think he is being negative but honest. The Shakeology concept is a very good one but I think a lot of it is marketing. I tested this concept with my wife right after she had the baby to see her results by having her Shakeology for breakfast. There were very few and her energy levels were about the same. Lately, we have substituted her breakfast with just regular whey protein and she has been dropping weight. Shakeology will make you more gassy because of all the vegetables and more regular due to the fiber. You could take a protein shake and add some fiber and get the same net effect in my opinion. As a coach and someone who works with athletes I can't say that Shakeology really is better than anything else from my experience. A lot of companies make 3 day cleanses which are beneficial to do every 3 weeks. Once your body is cleared out, I am not sure having shakeology continually cleanse you is a good idea. Make your own green smoothies for alot less.
Hey Brian, I'm not sure if you are just being negative or if this is a legitimate point of view for you, but let me answer you cuz others may learn something.
First, Shakeology is whole foods and has a "cleansing effect" on the G.I. when you first start using it. It will also have that same cleansing effect anytime you load your gut with junk (ie cheat meals, poor nutrition, etc). When you were using ShakeO, how clean was your diet? How long did you use it?
Also, some people are intolerant of lactose, and in that case the whey formulations can upset their stomach. In those instances, the vegan formulations are money. If you ever want to try a sample of the vegan formulation just let me know.
Hope that helps!
@JakeC No. As long as you stay on Shakeology HD, the locked in price is for life. You can change address, credit card, etc. That doesn't cancel your order.
@tkernicky Exactly, when you become a coach you will cancel your old order and put in a new order @ $89 (I tell you how when you sign up). You have all of March to get in before the change.
@CoachWayne Thanks for the fast response! And no I dont have too much time in the AM so right now Im having whey protein after my workout, (Im waiting for shakeology to arrive). SoI guess if I have shakeology anytime during the day, I will still have that 'shakeology power' in me?
@CoachWayne Correct me if im wrong, but there is really not enough research to back up the actual health benefits of all the ingredients in shakeology. Many of them are such small amounts it hardly seems like it is beneficial. With that being said I will continue to drink shakeology because i enjoy the taste, it keeps me full and i can afford it. Considering it is about 5% of the average american salary just on breakfast just makes me feel guilty at times.
BTW I don't show you as a member of teamRIPPED or any of my accountability groups. You might find that if you plug in with a group of motivated individuals who encourage each other, your perspective and attitude toward health and fitness might change for the better (you seem a little frustrated and angry, but I am only going by the 3 comments you've posted on my site so I could be wrong).
Best of luck and keep bringing it!
You are right. A person can make their own smoothies. But it won't be less $$. It'll be exponentially MORE expensive. The only way a person could make their own smoothie cheaper is to simply not have hardly any of the ingredients in it that are in Shakeology.
Watch this for more info on what it would cost to make your own Shakeology (by P90X legend Tony Horton) =
@CoachWayne and if i become a coach after April 1st will my price for shakeology be $89 or $99?
@tkernicky And even if you don't become a coach until after April 1st, Beachbody will still honor the locked in price for you as long as you don't let it lapse (in other words, if you become a coach in May, and have been on HD as a customer at $119, they will set you up as a coach at $89).
@LanderosAdrian Yes, you can use Shakeology at any time. I would recommend using it for a meal. It works well for me in the morning but a lot of people use it for lunch too. And yes, you'll have that great Shakeology power in you all the time :-)
@Jasonjyoung I wouldn't feel guilty about spending $4 on breakfast. I just looked up Gallop's most recent survey (2012), and the average American spends $151 a week on food. That's $22 per day. Seems about right. If you can have breakfast -- the healthiest meal of the day -- for just $4, that's less than 1/5 of your daily food budget. You still have $18 (if you are an average American) to spend on lunch, dinner, and snacks.
And with whole natural foods, it's not like medicine or supplements where there is an "effective dose" you must reach to get health benefits. Natural superfoods are healthy in any amount. The more you can fit into your diet, the better for your health.
So while I try to eat great foods all day, I at least know that once per day I'm giving myself the very best with my Shakeology.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Hope my answer is helpful.
@CoachWayne Wayne, it's just advice...that's all it is. You can drink whatever the @#$% you wanna drink!
@JakeC See the answer I gave TKernicky a couple hours ago -- right below your question :-)
