I’ve been having a blast trying out all the P90X3 workouts for these reviews! Most days I have been doing 2, just to make sure I get all of them reviewed before our X3 Battle of the RIPPED Challenge Group starts on January 6th.

P90X3 Workouts Review

P90X3 is broken into 3 phases, just like P90X and P90X2. X3 has them titled Block 1, 2, and 3. For the purpose of my review, I am going to work through the Classic Schedule order. I am going to throw in some modification recommendations as well. If you come to move that you are having trouble modifying, just comment and let me know! There are some moves that you will benifit from modifying them and getting more out of the move than going with the presented options.

P90X3 Block 1 Workouts

Total Synergistics –  This is a total body workout with weights that cause you to use your core and maintain balance in many of the moves. There are some tough pull up moves that really incorporate your core. To modify the core centered pull ups, drop the core elements (knees up or knee circles) and just do pull ups and chins ups with an assist or chair. Add the core elements as you get stronger. There are also a lot of moves to be performed on one foot. If you need to modify those, place 90% of your weight on one leg and just touch off on the floor with the other foot with 10% of your weight. Work towards being totally balanced, but don’t forget to do your best and forget the rest! Write down your mods and come back to it next time and fight for more.

Agility X – This really reminded me of a blend of some P90X+ and X2. Some great moves to get your HR up and really still cause you to focus. Definitely focused on coordination and balance. This workout will help keep your athletic performance in top shape or bring you to a new level if you need to improve your performance.

X3 Yoga –  Now 30 minutes of yoga is definitely something we should try to get behind LOL :-) Felt very limber and stretched out. The moves are rotate pretty quickly which keeps the pace up. That makes the time goes by pretty quickly too, if you are someone who typically doesn’t like yoga. I don’t think we’ll have an excuse for subbing out yoga anymore! Still not my favorite, but I will do it anyways :-)

The Challenge –  I have a feeling that this will be a lot of people’s favorite of the P90X3 workouts. We love the 30-15 routine from the 1-on-1s, and The Challenge is a condensed version of that. It’s all push ups and pull ups. You set a goal for both. It could be 2o for push ups and 10 for pull ups, or maybe you are BEAST and can hang with Sean C and do 40-18!!!! Don’t forget to modify as you need. Drop to your knees for the push ups and use the Pull Up Assist or chair for pull ups. You can always modify push ups and pull ups by decreasing your range of motion as well. If this workout seems tough, good! It’s going to be tough for anyone pushing themselves. The pace is quick but great, and the Burnout is a treat :-) I’ll let you see that for yourself!

CVX – Cardio with a weight. I really enjoyed CVX. This is definitely a workout where you will get out what you put into it. Here you can use a single dumbbell, medicine ball, or even a basketball for a little weight. If you go with a 12 lb med ball or weight, you will feel it. If you move quickly, squat deeper, and do more you will know it. The time flies by with CVX. A great cardio routine!  And it will burn a TON of calories in just 30 minutes.  This is a favorite of mine.

The Warrior –  You and gravity getting it done. This is a workout Tony devised for the US Military. Tony is a big supporter of our troops and spends a lot of time traveling to bases to lead workouts and show his support. The Warrior is a total body circuit. This workout could be done anywhere with anyone. No equipment needed.  You alternate between upper body, lower body, cardio, and core. There isn’t much time for cues, so as you get used to the routines you will be able to get more reps in and work even harder. The Warrior would be a very easy workout to travel with.
