Did you earn it? If not, don’t treat yourself!!
Results / Recovery formula is one of the most important supplements I use, because it’s specially designed to replenish my body of the things I just depleted during intense exercise. If I brought it, I used up my body’s glycogen stores, I destroyed my muscles, I wiped myself out of electrolytes and the building blocks of muscle growth. And if I don’t put those things back … in a hurry … all the hard work I just did will be minimized since my body won’t be able to respond (build lean muscle and refuel) like I want it to. It will slow down, use it’s own muscles for fuel to carry on (catabolic state), and I’ll achieve the exact opposite of what I intended.
So if I brought it … If I dug deep … I EARNED IT!! And I better give my body what I earned! That’s exactly what I do! On the days I do a grueling P90X lift day, or an Insanity cardio day, you bet I’m going straight to the blender for 2 scoops of R/R with some water and ice. Mmmmm Mmmmm good!
But, if I didn’t bring it … If I didn’t dig deep … then the last thing I want to do is put 2 scoops of R/R in my system that my body doesn’t need! That will cause an influx of fast absorbing carbs that will be stored as fat! This is why on recovery workouts and ab-only days, I only take 1 scoop — or maybe none at all. That’s all I need. I didn’t just destroy my body, so I don’t need a full 2 scoops. I give myself what I earned, but not more.
Remember to use R/R as it is intended — to refuel yourself after intense exercise. If you earned 2 scoops, use 2. If you earned 1, use 1. And if you slept in and hit snooze, NO R/R FOR YOU SLACKER! Sorry!
Like I’ve said before, I’ve used R/R for nearly a year now, and I’ve discovered that it doesn’t slow body fat loss at all if you use it in the proper window of time immediately after a workout. It keeps the muscles in an anabolic state (ready to grow, build, and repair) and keeps the body running in high gear (faster metabolism). It’s awesome stuff! But use it wisely!
