WHATEVER IT TAKES! If you have Body Beast, you know that saying. “Whatever it takes” is one of Sagi’s favorite sayings. Being in the Year of the Beast Challenge has me living into this more and more. It holds so much truth that I knew I needed to share it with all of teamRIPPED (even those that may never Beast up!).

At its very core, doing whatever it takes means that you won’t make any excuses. You are here to do everything necessary to get the job done. You have figured it out. You may not be able to control what happens to you, but you are fully in control of your response. When that clicks for someone, you know that there is nothing that will stop you. I wish I could make that change happen for all of you. Commit! Decide to do WHATEVER IT TAKES!

WHATEVER IT TAKES in all areas

Nutrition – Doing whatever it takes in nutrition is about not compromising. You are going to plan your meals and snacks, and then follow through! You track everything you eat. If someone brings bagels into the office, you pass because it’s not in your plan. If your mom bakes a cake when you come over, you politely say “no.” You’re not defensive either when your family comments about it only being “a little cake, it won’t hurt you”… you have a goal! You are doing whatever it takes, and right now that means tracking everything you eat and that piece of cake won’t help you hit your goals.

“But it’s hard to get all that protein.” No it’s not, not when you do WHATEVER IT TAKES! No protein at your in-laws? Go buy some jerky, pack your Shakeology, and get your protein bars. It may take bigger portions of chicken than you are used to or extra whey, but you want results that are different than you are used to. Isn’t it logical that you are going to have to do things that aren’t what you “normally” did before? If the “normal” diet got you ripped, we’d all be ripped! LOL we know that the “normal” diet of most people is good for only one thing — gaining fat.

Workouts – Did you push play today? If not, why did you make that choice? You know it is a choice! It is your choice to find a way to get it done. No excuses! The day may have taken some unexpected turns, you might be “tired,” but it comes down to this: Are you going to do whatever it takes? Get on your workout clothes, lace up your shoes, and put in your DVD. Working out at 11 PM after a long day isn’t much fun, so why not do what it takes to make it easier on yourself. Set a consistent time. GET UP EARLY! Then your workout is done before your day even begins. You may have to go to bed early to get up with enough time to workout before work, but that is doing whatever it takes!

“Pull ups are hard. Push ups are hard… I don’t like yoga.” Sure, everything is more challenging when it is new to you, but get over it and do whatever it takes. It might take modifying movements, using a stool, or doing push ups from your knees. Yoga is tough! It has been tough for me — and I used to completely despise it — but like anything else it gets easier when we practice. I think people expect yoga to be easy. It can be just as tough and physically demanding as any other workout. Get that thought of “I can’t” out of your head… remember Tony’s words and say, “I presently struggle with…..”

So what is it going to take for you? Doing whatever it takes is about dropping the excuses and finding what you need to do to make it happen. Is that finally being honest with your eating? Is that staying strong around your family and sticking to your goals. Don’t forget to pack your workouts and bands if you are traveling. See if any of your family members want to join you with a workout. Over the next month, you can solidify your resolve and prove to yourself and everyone else that you will do whatever it takes. You will be unstoppable!
