Coach W Checking In!

Hey teamRIPPED!

The weather has been so amazing here lately that I’ve been able to enjoy a lot of outdoor time with the family, going on bike rides, walks, trips to the park, etc.  And it’s also served as a reminder to me that there are MANY outdoor events coming up, not only in my area, but in many of your parts of the country as well.  Mud runs, Tough mudders, Spartan Runs, half-marathons, marathons, MS 150 cycle rides, etc.  I encourage those of you who have improved your fitness to put yourself to the test with some of these fun, local events.  It gives you a “goal” to target your training for, and it gives you a chance to see just what a difference these home workouts have made in your ability to perform in real-world applications.

Another fun thing about these events is the chance to hook up with others and do it together.  You can invite your friends to join you, or even better, see if other teamRIPPED members in your area want to do it together.  If you have an event in your area and want to post it here (in the comments section below this article) please do so.  Maybe someone reading this will be from your neck of the woods and y’all can connect and represent teamRIPPED!!

Last year I had a total blast doing a Warrior Dash with a bunch of awesome teamRIPPED friends.  It was definitely one of the highlights of my entire year.

In other news, I’m getting very close to having all the publishing done on the teamRIPPED iPhone app!  I’m very excited about that.  I’ve had the Android teamRIPPED app for a couple months now, but Apple makes things tough LOL.  I’m almost over all their hurdles, so stay tuned!   I hope to be able to make an announcement soon!

Check out the progress of 45 year old David R., who just completed his second round of P90X.  I’d say he’s made a little progress!!!!  I love seeing this kind of hard work!  I swear you look about 30 now, not 45!  Congrats man!

And as a follow up to my dermatology visit from last week, I found out that the pathologist didn’t like what he saw on the biopsy, so once the 3 inch chunk out of my back heals, I have to go back and have a bigger chunk taken out.  Oh joy joy!  At least I’ll be done with X2 and in the foundation phase of the next round when I get that done, so it shouldn’t sidetrack me by very much.  And I’m of course VERY GLAD my wife nagged … er I mean encouraged …. me to go get checked out cuz if I hadn’t who knows what might have happened if I let it go untreated.  I sure love my wife for looking out for me!

Oh, and by the way, fisherman hats ARE cool.  I said so!  I now have 3 of them that I’ll be wearing all spring and summer LOL.

And 2 favors that I ask:

1) If you like the hard work I put into writing my articles and videos, PLEASE help me out by sharing them.  Click the share links below them and share them on FB, twitter, etc.  It really helps me get more exposure and grow teamRIPPED!

2) Also, as always, remember that the way I benefit from being your coach is that I earn a commission from any Beachbody products that you purchase, as long as you buy them through my site, www.teamRIPPED.com, or by logging in to www.teambeachbody.com to do your shopping (If you buy from the plain beachbody site I get no credit). It helps with the amount of time I spend answering all your questions and helping you out. Thank you! I really appreciate it!

Keep bringing it and inspiring others to do the same gang!!

Wayne Wyatt

Hey Coach W, I have been lurking on your site for a while and really like what you do. I am doing a half marathon this year and was wondering if you feel that just doing 90x is enough training to do it or if you think I should add some extra running sessions to my workouts. Thanks for your help, Brandon S

Brandon, P90X will do far, but you will need some long runs to complete at that mileage. I have seen runners use P90X lift days (M,W,F) and do runs T, TH, and a long on Sat.

Hey, Chad Bestor. I sent you a message on Facebook. Looking forward to meeting you.

Hey Coach, I am 24 at 5'5" and weight 140lbs, I wanted to ask you if it is okay that I fall under my 1,500 calorie plan on a regular basis. I miss my protein intake quite a bit but I try to never go over my carbs or fat consumption. Also, I decided to do a hybrid version which keeps all the weight lifting courses (shoulders & arms, core synergistics, legs & back, chest & back) but I substitute Plyo X with Plyometric Cardio and Kenpo X with Cardio Power & Resistance from Insanity. Do you think this is good enought to drop my body fat? What do you think of it as a routine.

Hey Valentin, it's good that you aren't going over on carbs and fat, but if you are falling "quite a bit short" on protein then you will most likely lose muscle while losing weight. The point of taking in a lot of protein while losing weight is to preserve muscle. That way the weight you lose if fat, not fat and muscle.

Coach Wayne, I sent you an email with my results... feel free to share if you like... i feel great and I can't wait for round 2 of the x2! Les

k. Thanks coach!

Hey coach, I have a quick question. I will be starting asylum a week after I finish X2 with the X2 crew. I still have a few % of BF to lose. Should I stick with a fat shredder diet, or just do the Asylum diet?

Hey Birsa, stick with a fat shredder diet. I found the Asylum diet to be lacking and all our Asylum legends did fat shredder diets and we rocked it!

Mud Run in south west PA at 7-Springs Resort May 12th. www.mudonthemountain.com/

Thank you coach this is very motivational answer. I'll do my best.

Hey Coach, I'm tracking what I eat almost every day on myfitnesspal. I think my diet is ok because I eat a lot of protein, around 30-40% carbs and very low % of fat. I also drink Whey Isolate protein, but it's my first month in p90x maybe this with my muscles will change in other two months:(

Consistency and precision is the key Igor. Work to go from "almost every day" to EVERY DAY. And work to go from "diet is ok" to diet is SPOT ON!! It's worth it in the end! Keep bringing it!

Coach Wayne, Good luck with your next doctor visit! Glad you are taking care of that... you will be back better than ever before you know it! Today is my day 90 of p90x2. Thank you for your support, and to the rest of the teamripped family - couldn't have made it this far without you guys! enjoying the journey! - Les

Congrats Les on graduating X2!! Way to go!

My dad loves those hats Indo. I can't be like the old man!!!

Hi coach, I have two questions. 1. It's good to skip Kenpo or to change it for something else??? Y don't like it, it's just not good for me:( 2. I lost 8kg, I drink whey protein but my muscles still not growing up, what's worst I think that I loose some muscles. It is smart to take creatine now ???? Tnx

Hey Igor, I don't like Kenpo either. You can't just skip it though. You can sub something else for it (cardio workout like Plyo X a second time, cardio X, or an Insanity workout). That's fine. Don't just skip it though. Are you tracking body fat? What makes you think you lost muscles?? Feel free to read my "creatine revisited" article to learn about creatine. It is good for building muscle and strength, but I'd first like to know more about how you think you've lost muscles?? Is you diet right on? Are you tracking what you eat? Are you measuring body fat??

Birsa, I was planning on doing Warrior Dash. Message me. marlonjb007@gmail.com. I'm open.

Hey David, forgot to mention you have awesome results!!! Like a MMA fighter.

Good luck Coach!! I am sure you will be just fine!!

Anyone in teamripped interested in the Tri-state tough Mudder? It's in October 20&21 at Englishtown, NJ. There's is also a rebel race in New Windsor, NY in July 21st. Check the links if you are in the NYC/Orange/Rockland County area: http://rebelrace.com/event.php?id=50 http://toughmudder.com/events/tri-state-2012/ If you are in the area and want to do one of these, e-mail me at marlonjb007@gmail.com

Praying all goes well coach. There is a Tough Mudder run in Austin October 6th and 7th. Seriously thinking about registering, I should be able to fit a second round of X in before then. If anyone in the Central Texas area is interested, let me know.

Thanks for all your words of encouragement in all of your articles, Coach Wayne! Is anyone planning or interested in the Warrior Dash in Afton, Minnesota; June 30 & July 1 ? I've never done one, but may get together with some my Air Force peeps. Plz let me know if you're interested and in the MN/WI area! It'll be great.

What would we do without our wives :) I hope everything works out with your back. Lori had something like that happen a couple years ago. I'm also glad to hear about all the family time your getting. I couldn't imagine getting all the stuff done that you have on your plate, that again that's why your Top Coach. On a side note, speaking of mud runs. I was able to get the "Famous Lance Lyell" and his family to come to Ohio and compete in another Tough Mudder with me on April 14th. Woo hoo! Man did that take some prodding :)

You are in our prayers coach.

Good Luck with the back Coach. Its hard when our wife suggest us to go for something like that but in most cases its for the best. Glad you caught things early!

"Oh, and by the way, fisherman hats ARE cool"- WOW ! Somebody has been spending too much time in the sun :) Take care of yourself coach, your in my thoughts and prayers.

Good Luck Coach. I am always amazed at some of the fun things you can do if you are in decent shape, let alone good shape. Imagine that. Did you ever think you would have the energy and stamina to complete these activities? Thanks for the additional motivation today. Now, if I can get my friend to get their rear end off the couch. LOL.

Haven't posted in a while, but I'm hopping back in to say good luck with the biopsy, Coach. I'll be pulling for ya!
