Hey teamRIPPED!
It’s Spring cleaning time, so you’ll notice that over the next several days I’ll be changing some things on the website. I want to make the most important info easy to find and just a click away, so I’m re-organizing a lot of the menu buttons and topics.
Please forgive the “mess” as I move things around and change links. You may find that some of the links don’t work for the next few days, but I’ll be going through each and every topic and tab, updating the info and correcting the links and menus.
For those of you who visit my site daily, you already know where the info is, where the resources are, and how to find stuff. But new folks don’t know where to start and get overwhelmed by the sheer volume of info on here. I’m trying to streamline it so that they don’t have to navigate tons of menus and links to find what they are looking for. I’ll have more buttons on the top menu that are direct access to my most popular sections — things that a newbie needs to know to get the most out of their workouts, diet, and supplements. And on some of my tips / advice sections, the info is outdated so many of my sections will get some sprucing up to make the advice as current as possible to what I have found works best on the things y’all care most about — things like nutrition and supplements. Shoot, I’ve still got sections that talk about how I take Jack3d and glutamine. I haven’t used either in over a year and a half LOL! I’ll be updating all those sections.
So all that to say … be patient over the next week as I make teamRIPPED a better place for all of us, and enjoy looking back through some of the sections you may not have read in a long time. You might learn some new stuff as you go over it again now, compared to when you read through it before.
In other news, I will now be finishing X2 four days later than everyone else. Gotta love getting old! I went to the dermatologist Friday for a general skin checkup, and he wanted to remove a spot on my back. By the time I left his office, I had a 3 inch hunk of flesh missing from my right upper back, 5 stitches, and doctor orders not to do any back exercises for 2 weeks. Now, that’s 2 weeks in human terms, which means 4 days to a superhuman like me :-). So I did have to take a bit of time off, but I started up again this morning and I think I’m good to go to the end! I don’t want to bust the incision open, but I’ll be careful. I’ve worked so hard and we are so close to finishing this round of X2 that I want to show everyone how good my results have been. I can’t take 2 weeks off now!!!!!
And while I’m on the topic of dermatology, did y’all know that melanoma (skin cancer) is one of the easiest things to diagnose and treat, and yet it is one of the biggest cancer killers in the world because people blow it off and ignore it while it’s small. If you spend lots of time in the sun, get those dark or dry/scaly spots on your skin, then PLEASE go to a dermatologist every so often to make sure your skin is okay. My wife nags me about it all the time cuz she loves me, and I spend my summers hanging out in the sun with my bald head soaking up the rays. And while I hate going, I know I need to get the checkups every year. It usually ends up with me having a couple spots zapped or frozen (or in this case sliced off), but I’d feel horrible if I got a fatal case of cancer simply by not taking an hour to go to a doctor for a checkup. Okay, off my soapbox for today LOL!
Keep bringing it teamRIPPED! The results I see continue to inspire me. Y’all are definitely out there representing us with pride! And I’m proud of everyone who is pushing themselves to reach new fitness and health goals. If you aren’t moving forward, it’s human nature to move backward. Keep setting goals and take steps every day to get to those goals.
And 2 favors that I ask:
1) If you like the hard work I put into writing my articles and videos, PLEASE help me out by sharing them. Click the share links below them and share them on FB, twitter, etc. It really helps me get more exposure and grow teamRIPPED!
2) Also, as always, remember that the way I benefit from being your coach is that I earn a commission from any Beachbody products that you purchase, as long as you buy them through my site, www.teamRIPPED.com, or by logging in to www.teambeachbody.com to do your shopping (If you buy from the plain beachbody site I get no credit). It helps with the amount of time I spend answering all your questions and helping you out. Thank you! I really appreciate it!
Keep bringing it and inspiring others to do the same gang!!
Hey Coach, I have a question about P90x and Insanity. I heard the word hybrid thrown around here and there but what exactly does that mean? Is there a hybrid program or is it the P90X program but substituting Insanity videos here and there?
Man! Are you sure you didn't receive that injury while stunt doubling for the Incredible Hulk?! Good Grief! You look like a beast! Are you doing anything special for your traps or just "Bringin' It"?
LOL Jeff, I'm not doing anything special except X2, which seems to require me to use every upper body muscle to stay balanced and controlled on all these med ball and stability ball exercises.
Hey coach I have the same feelings about injuries and working out. I currently have tendinitis in my forearm elbow area. Im really bummed out because I can't do anything involving arms. (upper body workouts). I'm getting a lot of leg and cardio and abs in but I'm depressed about not lifting. (I love lifting). But I know it's best to take the time to heal. I pushed through for 3 weeks hoping it wasn't that bad but it hasn't healed yet so I figures I needed to rest those muscles/tendons. Do you agree?
You may not have to totally stop all lifting, but rather modify your routine to leave out the particular moves that make it worse and/or back down the weight /reps for a week or two. That could do the trick.
Hey Rick, I just have the 552's. There are only a few moves I wish I had bigger weight for, and it's not enough to justify having the whole bigger set just for a couple exercise moves each week. On those (lawnmowers, heavy pants, etc.) I simply do high reps with the 52.5.
What cardio workouts would you recommend? Insanity, or something more light...and how many times per week should I do them?
Hey Birsa, like I did in my bulking hybrids, I'd recommend 2 days per week. Check out my "how to build mass" tips in the FAQ tab for more.
Hey coach...what kind of schedule would you recommend for some serious mass gain? Normal P90X, or something else...my main concern is the cardio.
Hey Birsa, I think the best mass gaining is with P90X and selected Tony Horton 1-on-1's (the 30/15, Just Arms, and Diamond Delts are all money!)
Coach Take care of you!! I am sure the entire TeamRipped will back me on that! Second, you look huge !!
Coach Wayne is 40/40/20 w/1900 cal good for Asylum? I weigh 180 and was thinking maybe a few hundres more cal. Thx
Hey Jason, that is just fine. Our Asylum Legends team (check their vids if you haven't yet in my "Asylum Legends" tab) were all running 1800-1900 fat shredder diets, so you will be fine at your phase 2 diet.
Coach "Bane", I mean Wayne! LOL! You look like "Bane" from the Dark Knight Rising with that back! Can't wait to see day 90 photos! Bring it Coach!
The veins in your neck are bulging!!! New goal! And you look absolutely shredded!! Good work Coach Wayne (even tho you aren't my coach)
Yeah same here, it's driving me nuts just thinking about not doing pap upper. So if I can't do it tomorrow then I'll try and just do pap lower, core stuff, maybe yoga till it gets better for the days to come. And the pressure and stretching is bugging my cut as well.
Ouch...That reminds me of an infected cyst that had to be opened up an drained on my back about two years ago. The difference being that they want those to heal from the inside so they don't give you stitches which meant 3 days in a row I had to go in for her to pull out and repack a wad of gauze inside that wound which goes under the entire skin layer without any type of numbing medication. Needless to say I would prefer not to have to go through that again. It was kind of funny though when she said its always the big guys who spend a lot of time in the gym inflicting pain on themselves yet are mentally weak when they come in her office for such procedures. She is ruthless....lol.
Coach Wayne, glad you are doing ok. You look HUGE!! P90x2 is treating you well. Keep up the awesome work. Can't wait to meet up at Summit.
Glad you got that taken care of! On a side note - you are looking HUGE!! I would say you have added significant size! Nice work.
Good read coach, this actually relates to something that just happened to me yesterday which I posted in X2 crew to see what others would say. I cut my hand while shucking clams for my mother and sister, the knife punctured my left palm near the thumb. I don't think it needs stitches, I may go to the doctor though. This is my last week of X2, but I had to skip today which was pap upper since I can't do pushups and other upperbody exercises because of the grip. So what should I do then, I was thinking I could either do pap upper tomorrow if my hand was good by then or I could take this week as a sort of recovery week and do pap lower two more times with some core work and then hit it next week hopefully? And what'd you do for those four days?
Hey Tom, I did plyocide and yoga to get a workout in and stay loose, but the stretching of the skin is what's bugging it. I hate missing workouts. It drives me crazy LOL.
coach would you just show us the p90x2 results already and stop it with the suspense :) lol
