Snacks can be hard for people as they start a fitness journey. I know what I used to snack on would have KILLED my progress in my first couple rounds. Not only would I have eaten way too many calories and carbs, mentally I would have been back at square one. So I cut all the junk out for a full 180 days. No cheats – no questions asked.
You might be asking yourself, then what are some snacks that are good to eat? Or better yet, are there any snacks I can eat TONS of and still be ok? The answer to those questions is YES!
5 Snacks that Won’t Ruin Your Diet!
#1) Baby Carrots – A Coach Wayne CLASSIC – You wouldn’t believe how many of these I have eaten at a time! I don’t need a dip, I just need the crunch! They just hit the spot. No it’s not chips, but I love looking for food that has a great crunch. I like mine right out of the fridge, little cold, and BAM! Whole bag gone LOLNutritional Facts – BIG SERVING (20 carrots) – 80 calories, no fat, no protein, 16g of carbs with 6g fiber!
#2 Celery – Seriously, the same reason as carrots. While celery isn’t my top pick, you can really go to town on it! And I think a good, fresh celery – chilled again LOL – has a lot going for it! That CRUNCH! Just like carrots, the fiber content is nice too (keep you full and helps fat loss & digestion).
Nutritional Facts – BIG SERVING (8 stalks) – 48 calories, no fat, 2.4g protein, 9.6g carbs with 4.8g fiber.
#3 Air Popped Pop Corn – MMMMMmmmm another Coach Wayne fav LOL but really, this saved me so many times in the past from ruining my diet! When air popped (we have a little Whirly Popper), there isn’t much damage you can do with popcorn. Just avoid the butter and mountains of salt!
Nutritional Facts – BIG SERVING (3 cups) – 93 Calories, 1.1g fat, 3.1g protein, and 18.7g carbs with 3.5g fiber.
#4 Scrambled Egg Whites – Great night time fix when you need protein! Easy to make and pretty good too! I like egg whites that are ready to use in the carton. They are 100% eggs and ready to be scrambled. What is the best is they are all protein! So if you are behind on your protein budget, make some egg white (even add a little salsa and you still won’t do any damage).
Nutritional Facts – BIG SERVING (1 cup) – 126 Calories, 0g fat, 1.8g carbs, and 26.5g PROTEIN!
#5 Water – Now don’t get mad at me LOL, I am serious! So many times you “feel” hungry because you are a little dehydrated. So down some water! It will fill your stomach and you can move on. I have used water over and over to beat some cravings. I knew I was on track and didn’t need extra food, so I would chug some water!
Nutritional Facts – BIG SERVING (32 oz) – 0… nada…. nothing.
