How’s it going teamRIPPED?! I hope you had a great week. My week seemed to fly by!

It really started with last weekend. I was able to go to New Hampshire with some buddies to celebrate our friend David’s 30th birthday. We went skiing and of course hit the weights! It was awesome! Talk about motivation. With so many guys, we decided to all work up to some 1 rep maxes in bench on Friday night and then Saturday morning we played around with heavy squats and deadlifts. Check out some of the fun!

I threw together a short video of some of the clips. There were more but this is what I could pulls from the YOTB Challenge Group. If I have the numbers right: Lance hit 315# on his squat (and then 335 – another video I couldn’t find), I hit 455# on the reg DL, David hit 355 on the trap bar DL, and then I hit 500# with the trap bar. There were a lot more PRs and man I wish we videoed them all!

The other big news in my life right now is that I just had knee surgery. I knew it was coming and this was the last weekend of heavy lifting for a while. I had been dealing with torn medial and lateral meniscus for over a year and finally got tired of it always hurting. Got surgery on Wednesday. Gonna be focusing on upper body only for a few weeks. It will be worth it tho to get things right with the knee. A little pre-surgery / post-surgery collage for ya. Had to shave lol!

I tore my ACL in 2008 playing basketball. It took me about a year to fully recover after surgery, but then again I was fat and out of shape back then. I started P90X in 2010. This meniscus tear happened last January playing flag football but I kept hoping that I could avoid surgery and just do cortisone shots. It just keeps nagging me, swelling up, and limiting what I can do. So I decided to bite the bullet and fix it. I enjoy spartan races, playing basketball with the kids, etc and I can’t have this always holding me back. It’s only day 2, but I can tell that I am gonna recover pretty fast from this surgery. I’m very optimistic! But it just goes back to my post this week on injuries, you have to do what is smart! I will recover and be back!

Keep the streak alive!

I know a lot of you are killing your workouts and sticking to your nutrition plan. I have been getting lots of emails with updates and I LOVE IT! But keep the streak alive. The real “magic” happens when you string together 60-90 days of perfection. Don’t slip up cuz you are doing well, and don’t get down if you thought results would be coming faster than they are… You didn’t get out of shape in 30 days, so we need to patient when we might not be where we want in 30 days. Focus on the end goal! You will get there, trust me.

Hope you have a great weekend! Keep bringing it!
