We are back in school! How about where you are? Are your kids back yet? What a busy time of the year! And I see it as a coach each year. People get busy and fall off… but what about you? What are you doing to make sure your schedule is set and that you aren’t compromising on your goals? For me, two of top priorities are my faith and health/fitness. So I make it a non-negotiable. I get up early and get to my chair for my personal devos. I sip my PWO concoction and when I am done with reading my Bible, I get to work in the garage! I don’t have time to go to a gym (or would I want to). I get my hour or sometimes less in and I am off to the races. Then I make sure to start my day with Shakeology. I cover all my nutritional bases with my shake and I LOVE IT! I look forward to it every day. Most of that is done before anyone else is up in my house. So it doesn’t matter what gets thrown in my schedule. I have put my work into being strong spiritually and physically and I am ready! My workouts and devos prepare better than anything else ever could.
If you don’t think you could workout in the morning, I challenge you this week to make it happen. Get up that hour early. Make it a priority! You might need to turn off the TV a little earlier at night. You might need to make sure you have you lunch packed the night before, but do whatever it takes! I can promise you that in two weeks, it will be easier. In 1 month, better yet. And in 90 days it will be a way of life!
My Year of YOTB
I did full measurements to compare to where I was a year ago when I started YOTB. I’ve gained a good bit of mass. I think going a full year in BUILD mode without doing any cut cycles really helped me overall because prior to YOTB, I would do a cut cycle every 90 days just to look good for progress pics and that really made long term mass building hard.
July 2014 = 228 lbs, bicep 17 5/8, chest 44 1/4, shoulders 52 1/4, neck 17 5/8, waist 35, thigh 24, calf 17 1/2
August 2015 = 245 lbs, bicep 18 3/4, chest 47, shoulders 54, neck 18 1/2, waist 36 1/2, thigh 24 1/2, calf 18 1/2
Body fat (using calipers) stayed right about the same. 6.18% in July 2014, 6.28% now (both measurements are probably lower than my actual BF% but that’s what my calipers and the Jackson Pollack 3 site formula give me). I think I was a little leaner yet in August as I cut a bit for a vacation. But overall, I’ve gained a good 15 lbs of muscle over the past year if I can trust the numbers! Pretty exciting!
