So you want to get ripped? Are you tired with where you are and where you have let your life get to? Do you want more energy? Want to feel good about the way you look? Almost everyone that has come to teamRIPPED has answered yes to at least one of those questions. And every single person can get on the road to success. You just need to know the steps to take.

Getting on the Road to Success

I’m going to outline 4 steps that I think are critical to get you started down the road to success. I’m not sure that I know any of our teamRIPPED members that haven’t followed these steps in one form or another. So if you’re just starting out, this is for you. If you fallen off the wagon, you need to hear this again. Even if you’ve already experienced a lot of success, revisiting these steps will push you further.

Make the Decision

This is really where it all starts. The singular decision that it’s time to make a change. No one else can make this decision for you. You have to look inside and finally say “enough is enough.” This is really the decision that changes everything. Cuz if you didn’t think you needed to change then there would be nothing to do. But you know why it’s important to change. Just take some time and wrestle with what you want to change. Is it your weight? Your health? How you feel and your energy levels? What’s not right?

Uncover Your WHY

This is a really important step! So don’t skip it! Now you know what you want to change and you’ve made that decision, but why is it important for you to make this change? These reasons why need to be bigger than just what you want to change. I want to stay healthy so I can be the best father, husband, and person I can be. Health allows me to do so much more. It would’ve been completely possible for me to have had such a different life if I never made a change. I could have lived fewer years. I could’ve been far less active. I just wouldn’t of been the man I know God made me to be if I didn’t make a change and focus on WHY I needed to change.

Get a Plan

Most people get really excited for this step. Now we get to make a plan for how we’re going to reach our goals. Things are going to consider here are what program you’re going to use, how you can set up your nutrition plan, and who can help you along the way (Yea, that’s me!).

My general recommendation for a program is one that has a strong foundation of lifting. All Beachbody programs do a great job of giving you a highly structured and well thought out series of workouts. I would encourage you to first look at programs that will have you lift some weights. Lifting weights does so much more for changing your overall body composition then cardio only programs. Here are some of my picks:

You really wouldn’t go wrong with any of those. If you are a Beachbody On-Demand member (streaming service with TONS of programs at your finger tips), you could also create a hybrid using one of those programs as your base and then adding high intensity cardio like Insanity, Combat, or MAX 30.

For nutrition, you know I’m going to tell you to start tracking LOL! Check out my Calorie Calculator to find a starting deficit to run if you’re trying to lose weight. This is just a calculation and you will want to dial it in by testing it in seeing if that calorie level is effective for losing weight.

Macros (tracking protein, carbs, and fats) play a big role too in losing BF and maintaining/building muscle. There is too much to type here, but check out Tweaking Calories and Macros.

Get Plugged In

This might push you out of your comfort zone but I challenge you to do it! Get plugged in with teamRIPPED. Why would you ever choose to do this alone? You can have a full community of like-minded people to support and encourage you. These are people that have been there and done it. You will always have me as your Coach but you also get to benefit from the team.

The best place to get plugged in right now is my challenge group: Ripped 2015. So many great people, all pushing towards their goals, and all at different spots along the road to success. Get in there and join the community. Post your workouts, post pics of your meals, and just be engaged!
