n.

1. Something of the wrong size or shape for its purpose.
2. One who is unable to adjust to one’s environment or circumstances or is considered to be disturbingly different from others.

Kalib has been one of the most positive, inspirational, plugged in members of the Misfit Challenge.  That’s part of why he’s made such a great change in his attitude and approach to his health and fitness.  His biggest battle was staying committed, but he finally found the key to plugging in, and now he’s one of the cornerstones of the team.  He’s got it!  And he’s now coaching others to teach them what he’s learned about plugging in, getting accountability, and rising to new levels.  Way to go Kalib!

His video is awesome too!  Check this out!

Kalib’s Story ====

2009 was a very difficult year. I was laid off from my job due to the economy. I had a hard time finding another job. Applied to literally a couple hundred afterwards but was turned away from the majority. My marriage of seven years ended abruptly. I was repossessed. I was evicted from my efficiency apartment. Basically, I was hitting rock bottom, or at least I felt that way, and my body reflected this defeated attitude. I had ballooned up to 240 lbs, and at 5’8”…thats saying something. Perviously I had been involved in powerlifting and bodybuilding. Had always enjoyed feeling strong, and going to the gym. But, with everything negative going on in my life, my health and fitness became a very low priority.

In the summer of 2010, I decided it was finally time to try to change things around. I cannot remember a specific event that lead to this decision. Just remember feeling very very TIRED! Tired of my life not going in the direction I wanted it to. Tired of the reflection I saw in the mirror. Tired of feeling like crap. I knew that this couldn’t last. I knew that I had to get a hold on the things in my life I could control. Time for a change…

I had watched the P90X infomercial several times prior. I even owned the whole set, but it sat there collecting dust. Decided to give it a shot, because going back into the gym looking the way I did was not an option. Right away I didn’t want to diet. It was to constrictive. Figured I would just clean it up a little bit. Also, I didn’t like the Plyometrics, and especially the Yoga, workouts…so I skipped those days. As you can imagine, my results ranked from disappointing to nonexistent that first round. However, I did feel slightly better about myself, and since I always enjoyed weight training, decided to stick with it. I did this for about a year. Sometimes completing the whole 90 days, sometimes not. In the summer of 2011, I was feeling good about myself so I decided to take a pic to see my progress. I was DISSAPPOINTED. Not a whole lot of change had occurred.

It was in the same month of that photo that I was installing my blue ray disk player. I connected the internet to it and checked to see if Youtube was working. It was then that I saw Coach Wayne Wyatt’s transformation video. My jaw literally dropped. I couldn’t believe the results he had achieved in just 90 days. I immediately checked out his website www.teamripped.com. His website provided me with a lot of the information I was missing in my own plan, and a ton of inspiration.

So, now better armed for battle, I decided to really give P90X a full go. I was going to follow the diet and the workout plan as it was supposed to be done. I would also use teamripped.com to answer my questions along the way. I still struggled to do Yoga each week, and I had a few slip ups with my diet. But inspire of that, I went from 230 lbs@ 25% body fat to 226 lbs @ 16% body fat. Not phenomenal results but pretty good.

After that challenge, I decided to “reward” myself by taking it easy for awhile. I didn’t workout at all and ate whatever I wanted for the next three weeks. My results that I had worked so hard to achieve, quickly started to disappear. I knew I needed to get back on the ball and not allow this to happen…yet again!! Thats when I read the post about the teamRIPPED MISFIT Challenge. This challenge was created by Coach Wayne, and it was all about people like me. Folks who never fully committed to the program as its meant to be done. Folks who did commit but slid back into there old ways again afterwards…MISFITS! Thats exactly what I was, a true MISFIT. Coach Wayne didn’t know it but he made a challenge just for me!

The teamRIPPED MISFIT Challenge started in October 2011. This challenge provided for me the final piece of the puzzle I had been missing. Beachbody had provided the perfect workout plan for me with P90X. Coach Wayne and his website provided for me the answers for the majority of questions I had. The hard part is learning how to apply these things in your everyday life, and having the support when things get tough. This is exactly what the MISFITS provided. The support I found there was unbelievable…life changing really. I ended the challenge at 218 lbs @ 11% body fat. I am very pleased with these results, but something more important was gained during this. I have a gained friends that are very important to me now. We supported each other the whole way and continue to do so. This has now become a lifestyle for me. Its not something I think about in terms of 90 days anymore. The positivity and support is addictive!! So much so, I decided to become a coach. For the first time in a very long time I feel like there isn’t a limit to what can be done anymore. I feel like the roof has been torn off, and compared to how I felt just a year and a half ago, its a great feeling to have!!!

Thank you Beachbody. Thank you Tony Horton. Thank you Coach Wayne. Thank you TeamRIPPED. Thank you MISFITS! It’s through you guys that I have my FIRE!! Cannot wait to see what 2012 has in store for all of us!!
