Livefyre!

Livefyre? What’s Livefyre? If you missed the weekend update, then you might not know. Scroll down to the bottom of the post and see! The comments at teamRIPPED have just become even cooler!

Livefyre is a WordPress plugin that I think will really change the way comments are used on teamRIPPED. Comments will be immediate and interactive. Unlike before where the newest comment was on the bottom of the thread, now the newest comment (with the newest reply) is brought to the top. What’s even cooler is that all of the replies are nested under the original comment. If you reply back to one of my comments or another teamRIPPED member, your reply will be placed under that thread. It’s really cool!

All comments are also instantly posted. No more waiting for me to moderate the comments. This will do a couple things. It will definitely keep things moving along, but more importantly I hope it lets us use the entire collective knowledge of teamRIPPED better. If you want to reply to someone’s comment or question, go right ahead. If you want to piggy back off of what I say or someone else says, do it. This will keep the conversions flowing. As I said in the weekend update, there are some controls in place — so watch your tongue!! If your post has profanity or is vulgar, it will get trashed automatically by Livefyre. If two members flag a comment as “objectionable”, it will be removed automatically. Use your brains and it won’t be an issue. Even when I moderated the comments all myself, I RARELY had ever trash a comment.  Y’all know what you are doing.

Livefyre and Social Media

This may be where I think this will be the coolest addition to our comments. You can create a free livefyre account to post, or even use the normal guest mode (Name, email, website) like before. Now you can also use your Facebook account to post. What is really great about that is you can tag friends by using the @ symbol! That will alert them that they have been tagged as well. AWESOME! Livefyre also pulls comments that you post to facebook under the article when I post them on facebook. This is really interactive.  So if you like hiding behind a fictitious screen name like before, you can still do that by choosing a Livefyre screen name.  Or, do what I recommend and comment with your FB or Twitter account and it’ll pull all your social media together.

You can also share your comments to facebook and Twitter. “With one click, users can easily share comments with their friends on other social networks including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.” Just click the facebook or Twitter icon under your comment before you post.

Do you use instagram or Flickr? Post links to your pics and they can be added to your comments! I am still playing around with this, but try it out.

Finally you can “LIKE” each other’s comments. This is like a virtual high-five. Show your other teamRIPPED members that they nailed it by liking comments that really help the conversation. This is really handy if you don’t necessarily have a reply but want to show your teammates that their comment was helpful.

Your own blogs – link backs

Another really helpful thing about livefyre is the link backs. If you have a livefyre account/profile, every time you post a comment or click “Like”, one <dofollow> link will be created back to your URL (the icon that goes along with your comment or “Like” has your URL embedded in it). That is great for SEO! Now don’t go crazy spamming my site thinking you’ll get yourself a bunch of links… I will blacklist you LOL! But it’s just another awesome feature of livefyre that can help those of you in teamRIPPED with your own sites! Maybe you are a coach and you have been a little discounted from teamRIPPED, get back in the game and share your knowledge! Not only will plugging in help the team, it will help your site as well! Win win.
