The change in his midsection (big gut to defined abs) is what impresses me most. That’s discipline and hard work! Way to go Craig!
Here’s Craig’s Story =
Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
Throughout the first 22 years of my life I was an athlete. My entire life was centered around sports. I was in great shape 365 days a year because I was always involved in a sport. I committed to basketball and received a full scholarship to play in college. I continued to be in great shape during my four years in college. It wasn’t until i graduated and there wasn’t a coach telling me to workout everyday that my lifestyle and diet started to catch up with me. I had never focused on my diet, but it hadn’t effected me because I was always so active. Once there wasn’t anyone making me workout I started to pack on the weight. In the three years after college I went from 215 lbs to 280 lbs. I had completely let myself go. What once had been a finely tuned athletic machine, was now an obese unhealthy body that needed a change.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
I married the love of my life, Natalie, on August 4th, 2012. Natalie was also an athlete in college, but she refused to let herself go like I did. When the new year of 2013 came around, I looked in the mirror and I was truly embarrassed at what I had let myself become. Not only did my body look like nothing I had ever been, I knew on the inside I was killing myself with the weight I had gained. For my new wife Natalie, and myself I had to make a change. I wanted to be able to get up and down the stairs without sweating. I was too young to be as unhealthy as I had become. I wanted to challenge myself to see if I could return to the peak physical shape I was once in. I had no idea that in only 90 days my results would exceed anything I could have ever imagined.
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody® help you overcome that challenge?
FOOD!! I love to eat. Food is meant to be fuel for your body. Food was my hobby. I had to completely commit to changing my diet. There is no way I could have done this without the help and guidance from my Beachbody® Coach Wayne Wyatt. The fact that Beachbody® has these coaches available for people starting a new program and lifestyle is one of the many things that makes their programs different from anything else out there. Wayne had already done P90x and experienced all the ups and downs I was going through. To be able to pull knowledge from his experiences was invaluable. Once I started to see the weight fall off, it made the change in diet much easy to stick to. My body changed like i could have never imaged. I lost over 50 lbs in 90 days!! I owe much of my success to Beachbody® and P90x!
Why did you choose this particular program?
P90x resinated with me because I wanted a program that would burn fat while building muscle. Every transformation video I watched showed men and women not only losing weight, but also getting ripped. I had done a lot of weight training as an athlete and I wanted that to be a part of my program. It also helped that everyone who stuck to P90x and the diet got amazing results. I wanted that for myself. I wanted to see if I had what it took to be like the people I saw on TV, and I did!
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
P90x resonated with me because I wanted a program that would burn fat while building muscle. For my first 90 days my main goal was to lose weight, but I also wanted to get stronger. I liked how in every workout I was going to burn at least 600 calories because of the intensity, but I could also gain strength because of the targeted weight training. The intensity of each workout also was a huge factor for me. At first it was difficult, but as time went on it was a challenge that I looked forward to everyday!
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
I feel my results were nothing short of incredible. When I started I weighed in at 276 lbs. On day 90 I weighed in at 222 lbs. I lost 54 lbs and 17% body fat in 90 DAYS! That’s more than a pound every other day. My before and after pictures do a better job telling the story than I ever could. Not only did I lose weight and body fat, but I have changed in so many other ways as well. My energy levels are insane. Lower back pain I lived with for a couple years went away. My self-esteem was back to were it was when I was playing basketball in college. It is great to be able to say “I Iost 54lbs,” but having my self-esteem at an all-time high is something you can’t put a price on. I love it and I’m never going back!
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
I don’t like to say I “completed” P90x. This is a lifestyle change that I decided to make and I will never go back to the way I was. I get up everyday with an intensity that was unknown to me before. I can’t wait to put in a DVD and get worked out by Tony Horton. Finishing my first 90 days of P90x gave me a confidence that I didn’t know existed. People ask me what I did to change my body so quickly and I can’t tell them about Beachbody fast enough. I am planning on becoming a Beachbody Coach so I can assist others on making the most incredible lifestyle change ever!
