Hey teamRIPPED!

Attention!!!  I want to see YOUR HOME GYM setup!!!  Read on to learn more …

Are you bringing it?  Have you been converting your home into your one-stop fitness bootcamp?  As some of you know, I started off working out in my living room.  I did that for about a year.  Every morning I’d pull out my equipment (which was stashed behind the couch / chairs), move the furniture a bit to get enough room, and knock out my workouts.  The pullup bar would only fit on the doorway to our laundry room, so I’d have to run over to the laundry room for the pullup sets.  It wasn’t ideal, but it worked.

Then, starting about year 2 of my new lifestyle, I earned the privilege of outfitting an entire room to be my workout room.  It was SWEET!  Wall mounted pullup bars, flat screen TV, no furniture cluttering my space, and I could leave all my weights / balls / mats right where I wanted.

BUT ….. now that we are about to bring home a new member of the family, the workout room is now a bedroom again.  And I was left with a choice — either go back to the living room, or come up with another plan.  I wanted a place I could have my fixed pullup bar, so I decided to move into the garage.  Other than the HOT summer weather, it’s a perfect place.  I have my equipment.  I don’t have to worry about waking anyone up.  I even have a big flat screen and blue ray player out there LOL!  For the flooring, after pricing the rubber interlocking gym flooring, I found a cheap alternative that has been working great for me — rubber horse stall mats.  I have enough of them to cover the floor on my side of the garage and I’m good to go.  I actually still park my car in the garage, so I have to carefully line up all my equipment along the wall most of the time, back the car out to workout, and then put it all back.  Not as convenient as my own workout room, but it’s been great.  Here’s a couple pics of my setup.

For those looking closely, you’ll notice I have both Bowflex and Powerblock dumbbells.  I can put together a full review sometime for those interested, but I like using both.  On Beast drop sets, I can have both pre-set and not have to adjust or dial any weights.  Just drop the Bowflex and grab the Powerblocks, for instance.  I will say this as far as comparison — The Bowflex, in my opinion, are much faster to adjust.  You can dial any weight, in 5 lb increments, in a matter of a couple seconds.  With the Powerblocks, you use a pin that takes longer (at least for me) to move from position to position.  Plus, anything over 30 lbs you can only adjust in 10 lb increments (not 5) unless you open up the handle and take out the extra handle weights.  And honestly, there is no way to do that in a quick enough manner to keep up with a workout like P90X, Body Beast, etc.  I have the Bowflex 552’s that go to 52.5 lbs.  And my Powerblocks go to 70 lbs.  If demand is high enough, I could do a full video review or something if people care.

What I want from all of you is to see what YOUR workout setup is.  Garage?  Room?  Basement?  Bedroom?  I want to compile an article highlighting some of the best / most creative workout spots y’all have created.  I love seeing how others do it, and it almost always gives me ideas of how I can improve my own setup.  So send me pics at coachwayne@teamripped.com and see if you make the cut to be included in our teamRIPPED home gym article.

In personal news, we had our official court date, so now I can make details public about our adoption.  In fact, for those of you interested, I’ve actually been doing a blog for the past few weeks to chronicle our adoption story.  It’s been “secret” until now to comply with the adoption rules, but now that we’ve had our court hearing, we can let everyone know about it.

Anyways, like I was saying, I’m only back in the states for a week, and then it’s back to Ukraine (where Sasha / Xander still is) to complete his passport, visa, and birth certificate.  We are in a government mandated 10 day waiting period so we came home to regroup and see our precious kiddos.  It was nice being back home!!!

And 2 favors that I ask:

1) If you like the hard work I put into writing my articles and videos, PLEASE help me out by sharing them.  Click the share links below them and share them on FB, twitter, etc.  It really helps me get more exposure and grow teamRIPPED!

2) Also, as always, remember that the way I benefit from being your coach is that I earn a commission from any Beachbody products that you purchase, as long as you buy them through my site, www.teamRIPPED.com, or by logging in to www.teambeachbody.com to do your shopping (If you buy from the plain beachbody site I get no credit). It helps with the amount of time I spend answering all your questions and helping you out. Thank you! I really appreciate it!

Keep bringing it and inspiring others to do the same gang!!
