WOW have times changed! If you have been with me and teamRIPPED since the beginning, you’ve seen it. When I started P90X, there really was 2 main Beachbody workouts. P90X and Insanity. Now there were some other ones, but if you wanted extreme results from extreme workouts, those were it. Now Beachbody has a HUGE catalog of programs and trainers to meet lots of different needs, interests, and goals. Today I want to make sure I get one thing across… Don’t Forget the Classic Beachbody Workouts

Classic Beachbody Workouts: P90X and Insanity

I get asked a lot about what program a person should start. I like to talk about their goals and interests, but in the back of mind, I always think, “If I could only get them to do 90 days of P90X…” That’s because there is something special and different about P90X.

There is nothing wrong with the new programs at all! On teamRIPPED, we have proven that you can get amazing results with these new programs. So please don’t think I’m putting these programs down at all. I just want to make sure you don’t overlook the gold that is P90X and Insanity.

Why do I still love P90X and Insanity

First off, I love that these are longer workouts. Having a longer workout opens you up to a more complete form of the cooldown and plenty of time for a great workout. You get more sets and have more built-in rest periods.

P90X Chest and Back for example. This is a 24 set masterpiece. Anyone who is completed P90X knows how devastating this workout becomes. It’s all push-ups and pull-ups. If you build strength and can do more reps each set, the workout becomes a whole different animal. You begin to crave those breaks between the sets LOL there’s just no way you could get in this much volume in a shorter workout. The Challenge and P90X3 comes close, but it’s still not the same.

Now take Insanity. Talk about long, intense, extreme cardio! The longer workouts allow you to push harder for longer, and still have more time to do it again. Even here, the volume of work you can get in is amazing. MAX30 does an awesome job of cramming this intensity and a 30-minute workout, but if you’re still building up your level of fitness you just won’t get as much work in 30 minutes as you would an hour-long workout.

Still my hands down, #1 recommendation for a first program: P90X

Barring some physical limitations, P90X is still my favorite recommendation for a first program. It gives you the best combination of lifting and cardio. Today, there is no better program for building a foundation of fitness than P90X. It will really prepare you to take on any program you want.

And that’s an important thing to remember, you are just going to do one program. The goal is to make fitness part of your life. Even if you do P90X once and get amazing results, if you stop and go back to your old way of life you’ll go back to your old self. I’ve seen it time and time again.

So don’t overlook P90X or Insanity. Both are included programs with Beachbody On Demand. So for $2.99 a week, you get access to them both! What an awesome way to start your fitness journey!

Just didn’t want you to forget about our roots :)
