“LIFT IS GOOD”. That’s what you hear Karl say every time he checks in. And he really means it! He’s a strong believer who is confident that he came across my path for a reason, and while the hard work has been all his, he’s found teamRIPPED and my input to be a real source of motivation to him. That’s pretty awesome. And I couldn’t be prouder to see what Karl has accomplished.
He may be a “senior citizen” (LOL I had to say it bud!), but he’s got a 6 pack that most college kids could only dream of!
Check out the transformation pics of Karl below! He’s also submitting his story and results to the Beachbody Challenge team, and I’m pulling for him to be the 7th winner from teamRIPPED in the 7 months they’ve had the contest!

Karl’s Story =
I was born in the year 1950, I’m currently 61 years young & healthier than maybe ever before. I know absolutely that I feel more alive than ever in my life. Beachbody Inc. has been a big part of this by putting together one of the most generous plans that I have ever been introduced to. This leads me to My Transformation & the excitement of a new future that fulfills my current dreams as well as those to come, the Lord willing.
On January 10, 2011 I had a plan, I bought another piece of exercise equipment (ABcoaster)& this would get me the abs that I had not seen ever in my life. This wasn’t the first piece of equipment I had (Bowflex Revolution, 552 dumbbells & a Eliptical) but this would help in the abdominal department, lying on my back & doing crunches or any kind of ab workout would make me nauseous. Now I would have everything I needed to win the ABcoasters contest. I found a great workout program for people that had little or no time, this would be better than following the ABcoasters program. Fast forward, I worked out 5 days a week religiously & my results were amazing, so much so that when I was done with a great workout (in my head) I was sitting on the couch taking a break before getting into the rest of the day, an infomercial (Insanity) caught my eye ( one I had seen many times before). Now I have been working out for almost a year & my abs weren’t even close to what this Shawn T had, what the heck is going on, what could I be doing wrong. I knew I needed help, it was becoming harder & harder to stay motivated, living in a rural area it was too difficult to join a gym, just not enough time.
I have a saying that I try to follow in life, “To condemn an idea before full investigation, is the height of foolishness”. So I sat down to start my investigation, went to the web & typed in extremefitnessresults, like the commercial had suggested. Now I’m looking at this P90X thing along with Insanity, so Google is next which leads me to a Utube vid., with a guy by the name of Wayne Wyatt, need I say more. I start studying his website teamRipped.com, after a few days of researching & asking Coach Wayne some questions I was convinced to try the P90X program. Now the goal to get ripped with awesome abs is back with new vigor.
While waiting for the P90X program to be delivered I continue to study my now coach Wayne’s website. Nutrition seemed to be the most talked about subject, so when my package from Beachbody arrived I opened the package & inserted the “Watch this first” DVD. Wala, nutrition & supplements were the key to good results, so I read the nutrition & workout guides before I even started with the workouts. Educating myself in nutrition for the next 90 days was turning out to be one of my goals along with the workouts. Shopped for the food that was necessary for the week. I already had what I thought I needed for supplements the first month. Finished the fitness test with flying colors, heck I had been working out for the past year I knew I was in good shape. Took the day 1 pics (11-21-2011), now I was ready to BRING IT!!!!!!!
Good shape right? My first week was the week of humility, a truck driver by trade I could barely climb in or out of the rig I was so sore, the perfect form that I displayed during the workouts was like a fish out of water flopping about with perfection. Oh and did I mention the PAUSE button. This Tony Horton had kicked my hind end, but thank God I’m not one to give in easily. Week 2 the pain had dissipated, my form & strength was improving. Other issues had now cropped up; the realization that I had health & strength issues to work around was the new goal. I had to remember why I had started working out again in the first place (Gout, arthritis in the left wrist & shoulder, constant belching, acid reflex, drowsy when on the job) & now a very weak hip flexor when working the core.
Continuing to study nutrition & trying to get to know some of the others on the teamRipped website through the forum I noticed a tab that leads me to Coaching opportunities. Coaching seemed to be right up my alley, discounts on products & helping others has always been important to me so why not. Asked Coach if he would accept me as a coach. When becoming a coach I started taking Shakeology & R&R, I really like these products & believe they are helping me with my success.
Now truck drivers have a lot of time on their hands when it comes to dreaming & maybe one or two thoughts crossed my mind while at work (during workouts, eating, grocery shopping & sleeping) did I mention I have a disorder called dreaming. I’m fifty six days in & the results are better than what they had been previously by a long shot, I’m hooked by this time.
There was still something missing & the coach training academy brought up that one should get a success partner. Still not having success with connecting with others in the teamripped forum or the beachbody forum I decided to join Facebook to become part of the teamRipped coaches’ facebook community (thought I would NEVER join facebook, ALL OF THESE NEW FANGLED GAGETS YO KNOW). I posted requests/ suggestions about finding a success partner, when a member of the teamRipped coaches group asked if I would be interested in joining a group called the MISFITS. I had no idea what he was talking about but what the heck, Misfit rang true with me it wasn’t the first time I had been considered one, so why not find out who thought they could be of such an elite crew. Elite would be an understatement; I found a group of souls that are so like-minded it is actually scary. I not only found a success partner but my heart is telling me that there will be long lasting friendships developed here. I did not believe in this social networking thing but I’m a believer now. I have more than a success partner; I would call it a success team.
My next round will focus on even better form as it has greatly improved but now that I’m recording some of my workouts, I will be able to see what does need to be worked on. I will be starting with Phase 2 of P90X for this will give me a completion date of April 30, 2011, so I can be on the same start date for MISFIT VS. MISFIT challenge. All teamRipped members come & join, if you want really good results with a whole lot of fun mixed in, I see this as one big HOOT. Participating with like-minded folks can really help one get though the rough times & PUSH PLAY.
This new road to continued good health is exciting for me; I see it as important in my live as Jack Lalanne did in his. I hope I can inspire a few that can inspire a few……This is what Beachbody has set for its goals & I’m proud to be part of it. I want to thank Coach Wayne for all you do, I wish I had a quarter of the organization you have. Special Thanks to the MISFITS you have given me a new lease on life. I hope that I can follow the LORD & give back what has been given to me.
Matthew 7:12-14
12 “Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.
13 “You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way.
14 But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.
I believe this is a crew of the few, it just feels right.
In closing my transformation has been much more of an inside job than an outside. My energy level has been taken to a level of when I was much younger, my flexibility is much improved, my strength has constantly improved & my outlook on life has been reenergized with the sole purpose of helping people that want to help themselves. I’m in the process of putting a website together for this purpose, it very much has you Teambeachbody members as well as those who are not, in mind. I will be releasing my Utube vid & website at the same time in mid-March.
LIFE IS GOOD!!!!!

Nice work Karl! You have the vacuum packed look. Tight! I'm 52 with similar results. You are just the motivation I need to keep "bringing it." 61 is the new 25. Good job man!
Dude, you took away the "that's ok to stop early...I'm 51, what do they expect" excuse. I might need to find other 50+ people to set my mind right! Congrats. I want to find my abs this year!
