Chris Coburn is a leader on teamRIPPED. There is no other way to say it. Chris has been a big part of the team for a long time and his ongoing transformation is really inspiring!

Chris never started out as a huge, overweight guy. He fought the other battle. Still shredding BF but wanting to really put on some mass. And he did!

I get the great pleasure of working along side Chris in the Year of the Beast Challenge. It has been a blast getting to know him more and watch him coach all the guys and gals in YOTB. He is a constantly encouraging and a big time motivator! Whenever someone needs help, Chris is there.

Way to go man! You story is still amazing and continues to push a lot of people. So proud of all your hard work and how lead by example!!!

(From X2…. man Chris, you need to do a BEAST Update video!!!)

Chris’ Story (all the way back from his first rounds):

Back in early 2009, a friend of mine mentioned that he was starting a new workout routine called P90X and it intrigued me.  At the time, I was one of those “has been” high-school athletes that fell victim to apathy in physical activity and overindulgence at the dinner table. I wasn’t obese, or really THAT overweight, but I would certainly not consider myself to be in shape.  I was subconsciously embarrassed of my outward appearance and my personal confidence was a reflection of this.

Later that week, I started looking into the P90X program and saw enough evidence that I purchased the DVDs from the infomercial. I didn’t purchase the first time I watched it, it was probably after the 4th or 5th time, some how my remote would always land on the channel with that commercial airing.  While I waited for the delivery of the little package that would change my life, I started looking into the equipment that was needed to get started.  I got all of the equipment and a few days later, the DVDs had arrived.  I decided not to purchase my equipment from the Beachbody, but rather found what I needed at a local sporting goods store.

I officially started P90X on Monday, April 20, 2009 and successfully completed the program on Saturday July 18th, 2009. I never missed a workout, though sometimes my schedule did vary, but I always made the time to get my workouts in.  I used the Team Beachbody message boards to find others just like me who were new to the program and were going through the same struggles that I went through.  I also had great support at home, my wife and kids were always joking with me about the things that I would eat, but they also learned to eat a bit healthier at the same time, which was an added bonus.

Since then I have completed several additional rounds of P90X, P90X+ and a few of the One-on-One series sessions.

I received some attention from my friends with my results, and while I was happy with the results, I felt that I could push myself even further.
Just recently, December 2011, I became a Beachbody Coach at the encouragement of my own coach.  I am super excited about the opportunity to start helping others achieve their own fitness goals.  I had several people support me throughout my journey, so I feel that it is now my turn to support those who are where I once had been.
