Did you like the Perfection Crew post from last week? <-Linked right there… It was a challenge I put out to all of teamRIPPED to make a PERFECT 90 days of nutrition and workouts. We started out with well over 100 people (someone from the PC can correct me, was it over 150?) but we ended the challenge with only 23! Only the strong survived. These champions tracked their nutrition perfectly for 90 days, crushed their workouts, and got great results!
I had each member agree to turning in their results and I now get the pleasure of sharing them with you! I am going to include a few in each post to make sure I can show them all soon! Some people reached their goals, other’s still want more. BUT everyone brought it and deserves big congrats!

What was your Perfection Crew experience like? What were you highs? Were there any lows over the 90 days?
At the beginning, it was difficult to make a 100% commitment after coming off a fitness hiatus of over 5 months. Once I got into it, though, it just because habit, the new norm. One of the biggest highs was that by day 60, the weights I could lift on just about every single exercise was higher than I had been able to lift at any other point in my life. That small bit of validation of my efforts each day served as a huge motivator to continue pushing through. Additionally, I was able to see week by week, both on the scale and in the mirror, that I was getting results. It was just awesome knowing all the while that tracking my calories so rigorously everywhere I went was having a SIGNIFICANT impact on the way I looked and felt. By far the single greatest low was having to make adjustments to my study and social schedule to accommodate working out daily. It didn’t happen super frequently, but occasionally I had to forego hanging out with friends in order to get in my workout for the day. After explaining the importance of the perfection crew to my friends, most understood, but some friends at times definitely told me to just skip my workout that day. That was hard, but it was so worth it.

The single best part about participating in and completing the Perfection Crew was that I was able to balance it with everything else that I had on my plate. I’m currently a college student majoring in mechanical engineering at UT Austin, one of the most rigorous programs in the country. These 90 days coincided with an entire round of exams as well as finals. Despite having the excuse to study all night and skip workouts, I made workouts into a necessary study break. By the end of it all, I finished my first year of college as an honors student with a 3.91 GPA–doing that AND staying in the Perfection Crew felt amazing. Additionally, I’m on the speech team at UT Austin, and April 1-7, we were across the country in Portland, Oregon for Nationals. I could have used this as an excuse for why I simply couldn’t continue with the Perfection Crew, but I pushed through anyways and did all of my workouts in the hotel we stayed at (and our team got 2nd in the nation, so achieving that on top of Perfection Crew was again just an awesome feeling). And finally, it was just awesome how many people at college, especially Day 60 onward, commented on how much bigger I had gotten and expressed how impressed they were. I’ve never been the “big guy” so getting those types of compliments meant a lot.

I used this challenge to really see how my body adapted to different calories levels and macros. The high was forming the habit of daily tracking. I’ve also used the 21 day tracking for part of the challenge and found that it easier to use. I was able to double check with my fitness pal to make sure the number was on track and use the portion system to switch things in and out.

Tracking for 90 days straight. Crazy.

I think most of you know that I had my first baby in October and had just started working out again in January. I was at a low because I felt really weak after my daughters cesearean birth. SO – this group had prefect timing!! I had been absolutely ripped for the 3 years prior to getting pregnant and had a wonderful and fit pregnancy – but I was not prepared for how much of a toll it would take on my strength. I haven’t taken my BF measurements or weight – because I want to be kind to myself and continue treating my fitness as a journey rather than a “destination.” PHOTOS and my strength GAINZ are my main gauge of my progress right now. I would like to pat myself on the back a little and just say that I am super pleased with my progress photos! They really highlight how great of a job I have been doing with buliding / bulking. The next step is to lean out a little for the next few months! My shoulders / back are so much stronger (and more defined) and I’m getting alot of my core strength back! I’ve loved being in this group with you guys!

My journey thru the perfection crew has been quite the series of ups and downs. I work a per diem job that puts my work schedule all over the place. There was some days getting home at 9pm and still having to get my workout in. Over the course of the 90 days I was able to add a total of 600 calories to my daily caloric intake. I added 300 at the day 31 mark and another 300 at the day 61 mark. This is huge for me! I have really tanked my metabolism over the years and had to eat less then 2,000 calories a day to lose body fat. Now sitting at 2,700 calories a day that includes roughly 300 grams of carbohydrates a day! It’s great knowing that I don’t have to drop my calories so low now if I wanted to start losing body fat. This makes life is much easier to manage and stick to a nutritional plan. Without the accountability of the perfection crew I would have ate a lot of junk food that did not fit my marcos and be way over my caloric goal and also at times underloaded my calories for the day and that would have caused my metabolism to crash again.

I am proud that I was able to keep my sobriety streak going. I made a New Years Resolution to only drink 6 times this year. My last drink was January 11th. I never thought I had a drinking problem, it’s just that I wanted to be in control of my life and my health and that seemed like an e-z first step.
