I get asked all the time by teenagers if P90X will work for them. I always tell them that P90X is one of the best workouts a teen can do since it utilizes lots of body weight exercises and core / control / coordination. It is a great workout that has a very low risk of injury compared to powerlifting.
And I always love seeing the results of teens who show the commitment and will to stick with the program. Chris is one of those teens. He just turned 19, and on his 19th birthday he sent me his progress video. He’s been tearing it up, and I’m very proud to put him in our Hall of Fame. Way to CRUSH it Chris!
Chris’s Story in his own words:
Alot of these hall of fame stories start off with “I was always active in my youth but…” well not for me LOL. I was big from the beginning! I remember always doing pushups as a kid though, and trying to leg press my dad haha. I always wanted to be strong – the strongest – that kid you saw and thought “wow…some kids are just naturally built I guess.” It just wasn’t happening though, I always wore a shirt in the pool and was never comfortable with myself.
Finally one day I got interviewed for the local news station. When I saw what I looked like it clicked. I needed to change. So him and I began hiting the tredmill and eating better and poof it worked I lost close to 40 lbs! Then I wanted to pack on muscle so I went to the gym with my buddies. I got small gains and used that “excersise” as an excuse to eat garbage with them. BLIZZARDS FROM DQ – that was my favorite and there was a DQ near my friends house and the gym LOL so post workout was brownie batter chunks and ice cream…still can’t put my finger on why I didn’t get ripped JKS!
I had seen the informatials of p90x and insanity countless time but just brushed it off as a gimmec trying to grab money out of guillable peoples wallets. However on summer vacation I saw one of my cousins and he looked great! I asked what he had been doing and he said p90x. Well from that day – that moment – that second I knew that I needed the “X”!
I decided that I would begin my first round in January. I was 178 pounds. I worked out, ate 75% healthy and didn’t track a thing. Pretty much I put in a decent effort which led to decent results. I lost around 10 pounds and didn’t gain very much muscle. I started going online to look at videos of guys that I thought I was SUPPOSED to look like. Then BOOM there was this guy with ripped up abs, and giant arms and I was like…THAT’S WHAT I WANT!!! That guy was coach Wayne. I read every article on his site and learned a TON. So after talking with him a bit and taking the information I learned from his site I hit the “X” again. I got awesome results! No cheat meals, no missed workouts that’s how you have to do it folks.
Then I began my One on One/P90x hybrid. I have added pre-workouts, a better post workout mixture, and shakeology. “Results City” as Tony H would say.
I’m currently about 165lbs, pretty light for my height (6 ft) so after I complete p90x 2 I will probably bulk up. This december I am going to do a round of asylum to hit the deuce with everything I’ve got. I know everyone on teamripped will be there with me on January 1st when we crush every workout in p90X 2. Yes even the yoga LOL. I wish I could say here “join my team and I’ll be your coach” but I live in Canada =(. One day I will coach though and I can’t wait! Till then keep pushing play and I hope my results can help someone out there get on the right track to nutrition and fitness.
