The teamRIPPED challenge crew knows and loves Jon S.  He’s a mainstay!  But it wasn’t always like that.  Jon was well on his way to being another story of “what might have been”.  He was overweight, out of shape, and started P90X.  He started to see results, but then stopped.

Something inside him grabbed hold of him and said NO!  He found teamRIPPED, plugged in here for motivation to keep pushing play, and restarted his journey.  Only this time, quitting wasn’t an option.  In fact, not only did Jon stay motivated himself, he motivated and inspired the teamRIPPED nation regularly through his encouragement to us.  Thanks Jon!

And he’s only getting started.  He is done with Round 1 — He lost 75 pounds!!! He didn’t let anything get in his way — traveling for work, working on oil rigs with limited resources and crazy schedules — he found a way and improvised to keep pushing play every day, no matter what.  He didn’t always have access to weights or a supermarket full of foods to choose from, but he wasn’t going to make excuses.  He did his best with the circumstances he was in.  And he showed us that anyone can make this work — and get GREAT results — if they have the heart to press on no matter what.  Jon, you earned this man!!!  Congrats!

Oh, and after you watch this video and read his story (below), stop by the Facebook P90X fan page because yes, they featured Jon’s transformation yesterday.  Way to represent teamRIPPED to the 300,000 P90X fans on Facebook!  I’m proud of you!

Jon’s Story in his own words:

I had always been a skinny guy back in High School. Back in High school I only weighed like 150-155 standing 5’10”. Then after graduation I joined the Army. In the 3 months that I was in Basic Training I had went up to 185. Probably a good bit of it was muscle but I still wasn’t totally fit-n-ripped. Well I got out the Army after 5 1/2 years and by that time i was weighing around 210-220.

I got a job working offshore on the oil rigs out in the Gulf of Mexico. I was pretty active while working 12 hr shifts. I would go in the gym about 3 days a week and that was all. Then after 5 yrs with that company I took another job still working in the oilfiled, but now i was going to be a service tech. I have been doing it for almost five years now. Well over those past 5 years my health and fitness went down hill. I wasn’t active anymore with work since most of my time I am on my computer. Well my weight over the yrs kept climbing and climbing.

Then in Oct of 09 I had a mild heart attack. Mind you I am only 35 and was 34 at the time. The doctor didn’t know what the deal was since all the test results looked good ie: EKG,CAT SCAN,MRI. My blood Pressure that day was 185/120. They had to give me a Nitro patch to bring it down back to normal. This was 7 hrs later in the ER. I then was instructed to go and follow up with a cardiologist. So when I went to see him he told me I was obese. I thought I am not obese maybe fat but not obese. But the fact was that I was obese. He told me that he didn’t want to put me on Blood Pressure meds cause I was too young for them. He said just exercise and diet. Cut out all fried foods, bad carbs, high in fat foods, soda and stop drinking beer. This was in Nov of 09. So I was like ok then. I at first kinda started doing all that but then didn’t take it seriously.

Then in March of 2010 I decided to start doing the P90X workouts and get my health back in line. I had seen the informercials many times and would sit there and watch the whole thing but never decided to do it. My weight was up to 275-280. I cut out eating fried foods, soda, beer, and all that. All I was eating was tuna fish, fruit and protein bars. I had lost 35lbs in those first 30 days.

Amazing I couldn’t believe what I had achieved. Well I wound up letting other things get in the way of my workouts and i kept making excuses saying i will do it tomorrow. Well tomorrow came and so did another excuse. Then I finally got back into my old bad eating habits. If it was on my plate i ate it all. I was back to eating the fried hot wings and drinking beer all the time. this went on for about 5 months. When I finally told myself that it needs to stop. That time was the time that I DECIDED, COMMITTED, and was going to SUCCEED.

90 Days has come and gone and now I feel in the best shape I have been in a long time. Next up will be a round of Insanity to lose the last bit of Body Fat and to improve my cardio endurance.

Thanks for everything Wayne, you are a true inspirational person to all of us.

Jon
