Jeff has been an inspiration to all of us as we have watched him transform himself on the teamRIPPED challenge. His insight and helpful advice (drawing on his medical training) has been a tremendous asset to all of us as well! Congrats Jeff!
Jeff’s Story in his own words:
“Here I am, a 41 Year old guy that WAS the stereotypical middle aged American. I had the will power to make it through years of higher education, spent 60 to 80 plus hours a week working and raising a family but never took out enough time for myself. It all started toward the end of my years in medical school with stress and some really bad stress eating. I got even lazier in residency and even worse in the first 10 years in my practice. I got up to 247 pounds before I realized it. Like all of us, we become blind to what we have become. It happened so slowly that I never really noticed until one day looking at some family vacation pictures it hit me like a tonn of bricks. My family looked great but who was that ruddy faced fat guy there with them. I looked like a guy with not much time left.
I was not a good example to my patients. Couldnt walk 1/2 a mile with out my feet going numb…Short of breath when tieing my shoes. Pathetic. I started off by eating a lot less. I tried to exercise but it was hard on such a low calorie diet and my weight made it even harder. Finally was able to run and off I went. Lifting was next but It was hap hazard and Id only do what I liked and was ignoring what I didn’t. Fact was, I did not have a plan. No coordination, no direction. I started on my own over a year ago and lost down to around 189 but I was not fit nor did I look well. Sure thinner but I looked “Skinny fat”. You know, flabby loose skin with nothing underneath. I needed a different plan of attack.
I was given a copy of P90X. I didn’t think I was up for it. I talked myself out of it several times. I finally looked at some of the videos and decided to try a couple of the workouts. I tried PlyoX first and I finished it. I thought to my self, I’m gonna do this.
Its exactly what I needed, structure. Not just the workouts, but everything. Diet, propper exercise, when to rest and when to Bring IT. Results came pretty fast as once I decide to do something I’m usually an all in kind of guy. Once those results happened it just added fuel to my fire and Ive since completed the program and am half way through the second round doing a hybrid routiene and getting even more amazing results. Its been life changing and Im interested in helping others do what Ive been able to do. I have enjoyed being on my Coaches site, modivating, talking and giving advice. Its also great modivation back to help keep me going the right direction. Hopefully I can help someone get off that fence and go all in with me. Its worth it… Now Bring it.”
