Jared has a great story about struggling to figure out how to get in shape.  He tried the gym.  He tried a trainer.  Nothing really hit his sweet spot until his friend got him turned on to P90X.  Now he’s had awesome results and built a foundation of health and fitness that he can build on for the rest of his life!  Way to show us how it can be done Jared!  And thanks for being part of teamRIPPED!

Jared’s Story in his own words:

“I’ve always struggled with my weight for as long as I could remember.  Yeah, I was that kid in school that got pick on for being overweight.  I was never the athletic type aside from helping my father with chores at the farm I lived at.  It wasn’t until about sophomore year of high school where I started eating less and losing weight.  By my senior year I had slimmed down quite a bit.

But after high school, I moved out on my own and I started to gain it all back.  I opted to play video games, watch movies, and eat junk food instead of being active and eating healthy. I practically gained my original weight back.

A couple years ago I decided I had enough.  I want to change; I didn’t want to be the unhealthy, overweight guy anymore.  So I ended up hiring a personal trainer who was a friend of mine.  It was nice at first.  I started eating healthier and worked out 6 times a week at the gym in my apartment complex.  I saw some changes and lost some weight.  But with my job and the theatre I was doing, I slowly started losing motivation on the workout and by 2 months I was done and slipped back into my old habits, but I still ate moderately healthier.

Last summer I talked with that trainer again and he put me on another “improved” workout.  I even joined a gym, because I was determined to change this time!  And once again, I started out great and then by a month I was done.  I didn’t have any proper motivation to keep me going.

Then around the beginning of November I met with a friend whom I hadn’t seen in awhile.  I was stunned when I saw him.  My friend had lost over 20 pounds! And this friend had never done much physical activity and was what one would call a bit of a “slacker” and out of shape.  I asked him what he did and he told me about a little program called P90X.  Right then I knew this was it!  This is what will get me into the best shape of my life!  If my friend could do it, I definitely could!

So by the end of November I was ready to start the program.  I had everything in place and I had many people to keep me accountable (including Teamripped.com)  I set these stepping stones to keep me motivated.  I took the day 0 pictures and I never looked back.  I kept a very strict diet, worked out every day and didn’t slip once.  I was amazed at the dedication I put into it and it surely paid off.

Now I can never go back to what I was before P90X.  I have such a firm knowledge and understanding about fitness/wellness that I never had prior to it.  Not only will P90X get you into the best shape of your life, it teaches you about nutrition, fitness, dedication and discipline.  And if you stick with something, results will happen!

Now a graduate of the program and with a expansive knowledge on nutrition and fitness ( thank you teamripped for all the articles), I have started a hybrid of p90X and working out at the gym.  It has been going very well! I have a solid foundation of stepping stones, and I know I will not fall backwards.

P90X has shown me what hard work and dedication can give; not only with wellness of the body, but in every aspect of my life!
