Nate’s 90 day results with P90X were amazing! He definitely domi-NATE-ed it! He shed so much body fat that you can’t even recognize him!!
Watch this video below and see for yourself. The side shot of his progress from day 1 with a huge gut to day 90 where it’s flat is inspiring! That’s not easy! That takes commitment, dedication, and BRINGING IT!!!
Congrats Nate! Way to crush it and earn a spot in the Hall of Fame. I know you aren’t done yet, but you are rocking it man!
Nate’s Story =
I was in pretty good shape up until the age of 30. After my wife and I started having kids my time for working out got less and less (okay none at all). Plus kids around the house meant lots of candy and snacks. Lots of snacks plus no exercise plus a disregard of nutrition equals a change from 195 at age 30 to 240 at age 35. Then it happened. I had a disc herniation in my lower back that left me unable to stand or walk for a week. Because I had a good doctor, I was able to avoid back surgery. That was my wakeup call that I needed to get back in shape. I knew I needed to drop the weight and do a lot of core strengthening to help protect my back. Because of my back injury I was no longer able to do barbell squats (I loved doing squats so much). So I decided to give p90x a try.
One of my concerns was whether I could do the p90x workouts with my lower back problem. For those who know about back troubles, I have herniation in the L5-S1 disc of the spine. I do my best to modify any exercises that might aggravate my back, but I still get a great workout with p90x. My back is definitely benefiting from the weight loss and the core strengthening aspect of the program. When I took my fit test, I couldn’t do single pullup. By the last couple of weeks of phase 3, I could crank out 10 to 11 in my first couple of sets on back days.
I have been able to shed about 45 pounds from my heaviest, my weight currently bouncing between 195 and 199, which is not bad for a 6’3″ guy. My bodyfat percentage has dropped from over 30% to about 12-15%, depending on whether I use calipers or my bodyfat scale. And my 36 pants are starting to get loose (I’m down from a size 40).
My next immediate goal is to get to 190 lbs at 8% to 10% bodyfat.
Since I’ve just completed this round, I’m going to move to a P90X/Insanity Hybrid. One of my goals is to be able to keep up with the “kids” during pullups, pushups and ab ripperx. I think another round of P90X should get me there.
I am also loving Shakeology. I was skeptical at first, but I decided to try it after reading the label and learning that it has no artificial sweeteners. I try to avoid sucralose and aspartame, and when I learned that Beachbody doesn’t use any of those artificial sweeteners in any of their nutritional products, that showed me that they are as serious about nutrition as they are about creating top-notch workout programs. Long story short, Shakeology is absolutely delicious, and blew away my expectations for a meal replacement. The first time I tasted it, I thought it was almost as tasty as a chocolate milkshake from McDonalds. (I did say almost, LOL!)
One of the most rewarding aspects are the compliments from the people around me at the office that are noticing my change. It’s funny because they always watch what they eat when they’re around me, and they come to me with different questions about nutrition.
I’ve learned that this is not about making it 90 days, but rather about making permanent lifestyle improvements by changing our nutrition and committing to physical fitness.
