Craig could make excuses for why he doesn’t have time to get in shape. He travels A LOT! His kids are busy with lots of activities. Etc. Etc.
But he decided no excuses. He plugged in with the teamR1PP3D ’13 Challenge group and has been crushing it for the entire year of 2013! He’s done a round of P90X, and then a round of P90X/Insanity Hybrid. He’s seeing awesome results from it! Check this out!
Craig’s Story =
I live a busy life. My wife and I are raising twin 5-year old boys and my job as a salesman has me on the road up to 100 nights a year. Combine that with the fact that I am not getting any younger, and I can come up with every excuse imaginable to not exercise and eat healthy…and that is what I have done for far too long.
Back in college in circa 2000, I was a Division 1 baseball player. I was in the best shape of my life, working out 5-6 days a week, and could eat whatever I wanted without gaining a pound of fat. I was 6’2” and 225 lbs with approximately 10% body fat.
Fast-forward to 2008 when my kids were born. I was still 6’2” and 227 lbs, but the days of working out 5-6 days per week were behind me, although I was still eating like I couldn’t gain fat and my body fat percentage had ballooned to approximately 23%. However, I didn’t think there was a problem until I saw a picture of myself lying on the beach in Destin, FL with my kids. What a wake up call that was…
That night, I ordered P90X and scheduled all three phases of the program in my calendar to hold myself accountable. As you may know, without planning for it, finding time to exercise is impossible. I need to make the time for my health and fitness and stick to the schedule no matter what happens during the week.
I completed the program and followed the nutrition plan about 60% and had good results. I went from 227 lbs and 23% BF on Day 1 to 197 lbs and 16% BF on Day 90! (The only way to reduce the body fat % to less than 10% is to strictly adhere to the nutrition plan. Period.)
I reached my goal weight and thought I changed my lifestyle. Even though I did give up desserts (and haven’t gone back since 2008) my sedentary lifestyle came back in the following months and years. The weight kept creeping upwards, and the body fat came back due to the lack of exercise.
Fast forward to 2013…
My boy’s schedules are more active than they were in the past. As my territory got larger, my travel for work increased. And quite frankly, I was tired.
Tired of feeling lethargic. Tired of the way I looked in the mirror. Tired. Period.
Then I stumbled onto a website called TeamRIPPED.com which was created by Coach Wayne Wyatt. This is where I got all the motivation I needed to “Push Play Everyday” and get myself back into shape and feeling better.
In January 2013, at 217 lbs and 21% BF, I joined the TeamRIPP3D Beachbody Challenge Group and I am loving the journey. Currently, I am in the 7th month of the challenge and as of July 1, 2013, I am 199 lbs and 9.6% BF. My goal is 8% BF and the number on the scale doesn’t matter to me anymore.
With Coach Wayne’s encouragement, I became a Beachbody Coach and started my own challenge group in the summer of 2013. The group is called Transformation Fitness and is dedicated to helping everyday people find and keep the motivation to “Push Play Everyday!”
With 60 nights away already in 2013, it’s taken dedication and commitment to succeed. Has it been easy? No. Has it been worth it? Absolutely. My hope is that everyday people can utilize the tips I’ve learned over the last six months to keep pushing play everyday.
