Chris was always in shape and fit while in the military. But after he got out, his lifestyle changed and before he knew it, he was 50 lbs heavier! He decided to make a change! In just 90 days, he dropped 29 lbs and is now enjoying the real pleasures of life with health and vitality on his side. Way to go Chris! Chris’s Story in his own words:
“Before P90X, I was overweight, out of shape, lazy, and really unhappy with the way my body had become! I was 218lbs, 22% body fat, had been struggling with my weight for years, and was unable to COMMIT to a fitness program or nutrition plan that worked.
I tried to lose weight, which usually involved “dieting” (a.k.a starving myself). After a few weeks I would eventually give in to all the cravings of pizza, fast food, ice cream, cake, candy, soda, alcohol, etc. I hated to be seen without a shirt at the pool, or even in my own house around my wife. It was embarrassing!! I realized it was time to make a change. This is not how I wanted to look or feel.
Well, I finally decided to do something about it. I was first introduced to P90X by my wife, who had saw the infomercial on television one night. At first I laughed it off, because real men don’t do workout videos… right? When I thought of workout videos, I thought of Richard Simmons wearing striped short-shorts, Sweating to the Oldies… No Thank You!!
But P90X was different, the people in the video were really working hard and sweating, they were using heavy weights (not just 5 or 10lb dumbbells), and they were doing exercises that I was familiar with (pushups, pull-ups, curls, etc.) which is something you don’t usually see in typical workout videos. After some online research, I was still a little hesitant in pulling the trigger. So, when my friend Stephen, a Beachbody coach invited me to a local Beachbody event to learn more about the company and their programs I jumped at the opportunity.
The guest speaker had achieved amazing results using P90X. Her results were so incredible that she eventually appeared in the
P90X Plus workouts. Her name is Traci Morrow, an entrepreneur and a mother of 6. I couldn’t believe a woman got that ripped after having all those children! After being inspired and motivated by her story, I knew the program was for me, and ordered the DVD’s and a pull-up bar as soon as I could.
I started P90X in June 2009, and immediately found out how extreme P90X really was, and why this program is so effective. The next day I remember being the most sore that I have ever been after a workout. I felt great and knew that amazing changes were ahead! So I thought…
I soon found out that following the diet was one of the most difficult parts of the program! I would find myself craving the unhealthy foods that I was once so accustomed to eating. Also, whenever I would go out to eat, I found it very hard to order healthy food and stay within my calorie limit. After weeks of struggling with my diet, I began missing workouts and eventually lost all motivation and quit.
Over the next 17 months, I struggled with my commitment to the program and the diet. I started and failed to complete P90X three times. Even though I struggled to complete a full of round, I knew the program worked because I was able to see some results.
Then on Thanksgiving 2010 after stuffing myself with turkey, yams, gravy and everything else, other than feeling full, I began feeling sorry for myself and disgusted with the way I looked and felt! At that moment I DECIDED I needed to make a change!! I dusted the P90X DVDs off the shelf, and a few days later on Nov. 29th 2010, I began Day 1 of my first complete round of P90X!
I decided to COMMIT to P90X, no matter what. After all my previous attempts, I knew I could not do it alone, so I signed up for a free Beachbody coach to help me stay on track for the full 90 days. I chose a coach who demonstrated commitment to the program, integrity, discipline, and experience in nutrition, supplements, and motivation. I knew I needed a coach who would encourage me and hold me accountable on my 90 day journey. I am a military veteran, and I know just how important a great leader is to getting the most out of his/her troops. Needless to say, I’m on my way to achieving great success by following in the footsteps of my coach, Coach Wayne, who had achieved the kind of success I wished for myself.
In just 90 days I lost 29lbs, 4.5in off my waist, and went from 22% body fat down to 14%. If it wasn’t for a shoulder injury I got snowboarding on Day 69, I know I could of pushed it harder and got even better results.
As far as nutrition, I followed the nutrition guide! I ate clean most of the time, and rarely ate cheat meals because it can take 2-3 days of clean eating just to get back to where you are before that cheat meal. I’ve tried diets in the past that allow cheat meals once a week, and they just don’t work! One cheat meal, turns into a cheat day, which eventually turns in to a cheat month. Trust me, that cheeseburger and fries is NOT worth it! And this isn’t easy for me to say. Before P90X, I ate fast food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I always had a pack of cookies in my cupboard, or sodas and beer in the fridge. That’s why I looked the way I did on Day 1! But by committing to the nutrition plan, using the right kind of supplements, like Shakeology, to fuel my body in a clean and healthy manner, and not giving in to my sweet tooth, I’m on my way to achieving extraordinary results on P90X.
As for the workouts, this is where the blood, sweat, and tears come in! I BRING IT every day! If I feel tired after a long stressful night at work… I BRING IT! If I’m on vacation, or out of town visiting my family … I BRING IT! You’ve got to decide ahead of time that you won’t let obstacles knock you off track. Push play every day. PERIOD! Plus, these workouts are simply genius! They force me out of my comfort zone by mixing cardio, resistance, balance, and stretching. I know that if I stick with the workouts and push play every day, these workouts will transform my body. And they are! I can’t even imagine going to a gym anymore. P90X is better than any workout I’ve ever done (and remember, I was in the military, so I’m used to being pushed hard, but Tony Horton pushes you far more than any drill instructor can.) I stimulate my body more in just 1 hour, in the comfort of my living room, than I used to weightlifting and running for 2 hours in the gym. These Beachbody workouts really are THAT GOOD!! My entire transformation is fueled by nothing more than Beachbody – but I couldn’t of done it without my Beachbody coach there to inspire, motivate, and keep me accountable along the way.
