Chris started his P90X journey with a lot of excess baggage in the mid section. He had been exercising, but wasn’t seeing any improvements. And approaching age 40 he knew he needed to do something different. That’s when he got P90X and began an amazing transformation!
Guys know that lower abdominal fat is the hardest … and last … area for most guys to be able to get rid of.
He brought it, got his nutrition dialed in, and made great progress! Chris knocked out 2 rounds of the X. He ramped it up by adding Shakeology to his routine, and then moved up to P90X2. Chris’s Story =
My transformation story began years before I had ever even heard of Beachbody or P90X. It was probably 8 years ago when I saw a picture of myself that was taken on Christmas morning. I was shocked! How had I let this happen? I’m guessing that I was pushing 210 lbs, that’s a lot when your only 5’9″. You would be hard pressed to find a handful of photos of me between then and about 3 months ago. I absolutely did not want my picture taken. I was ashamed of what I had become.
It was shortly after I had seen that eye opening photo that I began experimenting with different diets. I had very little success with any of them. I would always eventually go back to my old (bad) eating habits because I wasn’t seeing results and considered the diets a waste of time.
I eventually decided to add some exercise to the diets. So I got myself a treadmill and bowflex home gym. I was sure that was going to be the solution. I had my own routine that I would do weekly. I was able to actually produce some results, but none that were enough to keep me motivated. So, just like the diets the exercise would come and go in spurts. This would continue for a couple of years.
Until one day I found myself sitting on the doorstep of the big 4-0. It was June of 2011 and I was a few short months away from my 40th birthday. It was the beginning of Summer, and like every Summer before that I had wished that I had done something over the winter to get myself into better shape. I was tired of being too embarassed and ashamed to go with my Wife and Daughter to the public swimming pool. I made a promise to myself that this would be the last Summer that I had to make that wish. It was time for a serious change!
So I began looking online for success stories of weight loss. It didn’t take me long before I found the one that would help change my life. It was the story of Coach Wayne. There were plenty of others that were amazing also, but his just seemed to light a spark in me. The one thing they all had in common was P90X. So, I made the choice that P90X was going to be the tool that would help grant my wish.
I started my first round on June 6, 2011 with a starting weight of 178 lbs and approximately 22% body fat. I pushed play everyday and could feel myself getting stronger with every workout. But once again I wasn’t seeing any real results. However, this time I was determined not to fail or give up. I knew P90X worked! I had read the stories and seen the pictures and videos. I had to be doing something wrong.
That question brought me back to Coach Wayne and TeamRipped. I went to the website and began reading everything. The amount of information I gathered was incredible. In the middle of all that information was my answer. It was my nutrition or lack there of. So I created a proper meal plan and began tracking everything I ate daily with myfitnesspal to ensure I was hitting all the correct numbers.
Now that I was finally 110% committed to both the workouts and the nutrition something incredible started to happen. The fat began melting away! Finally! The results I had been looking for were at long last staring back at me in the mirror.
So far I have completed two full rounds of P90X and I’m currently in Phase 3 of P90X2. As to what’s next, I think it’s going to be a P90X-P90X2-Insanity hybrid. That should be fun! :)
Finally a HUGE THANK YOU goes out to Coach Wayne and all of Teamripped. There’s a reason why he’s Coach of the Year. I would like to also say that all of the transformation videos on teamripped were huge motivational boosters for me. If there was ever a time I didn’t feel like pushing play, I would just watch a video or two and I would be pushing play in no time. That’s the main reason why I put mine together. If I can help just one person stay motivated I will have accomplished my goal of the video.
