Carlos got sick of being out of shape and made a total lifestyle change.  He completed P90X, then Insanity, and now he’s representing teamRIPPED in the Asylum Challenge!  He’s crushed every one of the workouts, so I can’t wait to see what he does with Asylum.  Way to be an inspiration Carlos!

Carlos’s Story in his own words:

I, like so many others have struggled with weight gain and being unhappy about the way I look. I have tried many different programs, diets, and foods all with NO results. I tried to convince myself that having a six-pack or being ripped where not things that I really wanted or needed to be happy. Essentially, constantly making excuses for myself not to get fit.
Before P90X and Insanity, I tried so many things to try to loose weight like: going to the gym on my own, South Beach diet, Atkins diet, Weight Watchers, hiring a personal trainer.etc. All of them worked for the first couple of weeks, but after three weeks or so I would go back to my old ways and binge on food and gain more weight.
One day my best friend told me about a program he wanted to try and thought I should try it too. As you can see I have tried many different ways to get fit that I didn’t hesitate to try a new one. This program was P90X. He really introduced me to P90C because before that I had never heard of it. I borrowed his DVDs and tried it for about two weeks and then quit. I made all the excuses imaginable to not continue.
Two years passed and I only got heavier. I became addicted to pizza and fast food. I would eat a whole pizza pie for dinner…. all by myself. As time passed I felt fatigue, was out of breath, and simply out of shape.
Since my 30th birthday was soon approaching, I decided I didn’t want to look and feel they way I did and that I needed to make a change. I joined a local gym and hired a trainer. While I did lose some weight the cost of a personal trainer was too much to maintain. Last year in September, my cousin asked for my thoughts on P90X. I remember telling him it was the toughest workout program I knew of, but if he could push himself he could probably get some good results. Within a month he lost 17 pounds! I knew then that it was time for me to DECIDE, COMMIT, SUCCEED.
I went online and, without thinking twice, purchased the program. I won’t lie, there were plenty of times during the first month when I was ready to quit but I did my best and forgot the rest. I would watch YouTube videos for inspiration and this kept me going. As time passed, I felt stronger and could do the workouts without pressing pause. I made it through the first 30 days and felt invigorated and motivated to continue. At the end of 90 days I slimmed down 35 pounds from 225 to 190.
After P90X, I purchased Insanity. Boy, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I thought P90X plyometrics were tough but Shaun T. proved me wrong. I watched videos of people’s transformations and started to notice they all had one thing in common…a beachbody coach. At that point, I decided it was time to get one. I did a search on beachbody coaches and found Coach Wayne’s YouTube video and knew I wanted him to be my coach. That same night, I sent coach Wayne an e-mail and told him how impressed I was by his transformation and how I wanted to be coached by him. He wrote back within a few hours and told me how to make him my coach. This was one of the best decisions I made. I quickly realized how my nutrition plan needed some major work. He suggested his 1900-calorie nutrition plan. Soon after, I switched from Insanity into a hybrid of P90X/Insanity to build lean muscle and lose fat. I am currently on day 60th of the hybrid, but because of the Asylum challenge of TeamRipped vs. Team Excellent I am putting it on pause. I am down to 182 pounds, and 11.2 % body fat, and in the best shape I’ve ever been. I will enter the challenge to get even in better shape.
I have come to realize that P90X/Insanity/ Asylum and all other Beach Body programs are not a 30, 60 or 90 days commitment, but a new healthier and improve life style path, which I am planning to continue down the road.
