Who says we have to get old? Brad, at age 40, was 292 lbs and had been obese most of his life. He knew a drastic change needed to take place. He started making lifestyle changes, then hit the X to take it up a notch. He’s just getting started, and wants to keep going. But he’s come a LONG way already and I want to share his progress with you. Way to go Brad!
Brad’s story in his own words:
I had just turned 40 and as I looked in the mirror, I didn’t like what I saw. I had been over weight and out of shape most of my adult life. I knew that at 292 lbs. it was just a matter of time before I started seeing some significant health affects from the extra weight. My joints ached, my feet hurt and my energy level was very low. I began my journey by making some small incremental changes like cutting out sodas, drinking more water and exercising. I started going to the walk track every night. Soon I began logging my food into an app on my phone. I got far more serious about my diet and soon the weight was leaving – around 2 lbs. per week. I started hiking and taking short runs as my weight got down to a level that my joints could support the impact. Months past and I had lost around 70 lbs. My wife and I set out on our first significant multi-day hike on the Appalachian Trail – 33 miles and over 3500 feet in elevation gain! It was a blast!
I was pleased with my results so far, but I needed to step it up. Then I saw an infomercial for P90X. I wasn’t sure if I could do it – I wasn’t a former elite athlete or special forces guy that had gotten out of shape, I was just a fat, uncoordinated regular guy :) . But I got the program, pressed play and just did my best. I couldn’t even do many of the moves in the beginning. But I wasn’t in a gym somewhere for someone to be looking across the room and make fun of me, I was in my own home – so the self conscious thoughts went out the window. I just did my best and forgot the rest. Each week I improved in my ability to do the moves and increase my strength and coordination. The encouragement and motivation from Coach Wayne and teamripped.com was an immense help. From where I started at 292 lbs., I am now at 190 lbs. as I completed my first 90 days of P90X. I have already started round two and want really dial my diet in and get my percent body fat down under 8% and see some real gains in lean muscle mass this round. My energy level is out the roof and I’m in the best shape of my life at age 41. Thanks Coach Wayne for all your help and great information at TeamRipped.com.
