Boris is like a lot of us. On and off with fitness goals, working hard for a while only to let it all go. He couldn’t get to his goal, so he’d quit. He finally got tired of that approach to his health and fitness, and decided to push himself to the max for a full 90 days.
This is what Boris looked like on Day 1 =
He knew he had a ways to go to get to the body he wanted. This wasn’t going to be just a 90 day effort this time, but a total change of lifestyle. This time he was playing for keeps. But still, even though he didn’t figure he’d get all the way to his goal in just 1 round, how far could he get? Let’s see!!!!
This is Boris just 90 days later!!!! =
Dang!!! 30 lbs down. Body fat obliterated! That’s BRINGING IT!!!
Now that’s a Success Story right there!!! Congrats Boris. I am so proud of your commitment!
Boris’s Story =
Hello TeamRipped,
Like many of you, I have always been pretty active, but the regular sports and workouts slow down when you get married, get a mortgage, a job, and have a little angel running around you. In addition, that metabolism doesn’t speed up as time passes so before I knew it the biceps became thinner, the mid-section became softer, and the chest turned into something any baby could mistake for source of food. So two summers ago, my beautiful wife and I did P90X together. For her it was a tool to loose all the baby weight, and for me it was a tool to… loose all the baby weight so we got in pretty good shape. However, personally I did not have the extreme results and that was 100% nutrition, so I got frustrated and gained a whole bunch of weight back and then some. So after some up and down in weight gain/loss, after many purchases of different sizes of pants, and after I found teamripped and the fat shredder 1900 calorie diet, I set out in November 2012 to get extremely fit. As Tony would say, supersonic X style fit. So Day 1 was 210lbs about 18% BF, (could’ve been more, all I know is that I started becoming as round as the exercise ball collecting dust in the basement)
Oh the blast I had in those early days, I can’t even begin to tell you. I mean it was so much fun getting up at 5am and having Tony all giddy and happy telling me how this exercise will focus on those weak spots when I wanted to focus on getting back to bed. I was so pumped moving my 210lb Butt during Plyometrics, while Tony tells me “Rock Star Hops…Suck it Up”…I had a few choice words for him during those early mornings….. After two weeks a friend of mine asked me, “So is it easier now getting up and working out?”…”Oh ya man, I get up singing and dancing at 5am, while the Canadian winter is screaming outside and I leave the warm bed in darkness to go to a cold dungeon downstairs and have some happy fit guy tell me that he will do 20 pull ups while I can manage 4 “…….Folks, it never became easier, but I got up, every time.
In the back of my mind I knew I could do the workouts, the biggest challenge came in the kitchen. I never counted calories before and weighing all my foods, planning out the meals, and using My Fitness Pal was a real pain at the beginning. Needless to say I was hungry 24/7, exhausted from the workouts and lack of carbs, (very moody at times as my wife would tell you) and then came Christmas/New Years Time. I don’t need to tell you that the amount of sweets hanging around the office triples during that time. I fought real hard the urges to stuff my face with the amazing looking homemade treats around me, while staying really patient and answering 37 times that I would not like to try your homemade Rum-Tiramisu.. “oh Boris you don’t like chocolate, do you?!”…… smiling politely while thinking, “Lady, you’re fortunate I am doing p90x, otherwise I’d devour this tiramisu and the tupperware you packed it in!” But I had none of it. When we went for our skiing trip, I planned ahead, packed my snacks and food, and worked out even after a long day of skiing. I also kept away from all the alcohol and all the delicious food during our New Years Eve Party, eating healthy snacks and staying hungry most of the day, while food was all around me. I kept discipline and kept to my 1900 calories per day. As all of you, I had/have a lot of temptations, and it would be much easier for me just to give in
But at the end, after 90 days, those Rock Star Hops are a joke, I can most definitely do a lot more pull ups/push ups, my weight is down to 180lbs, body fat percentage is around the 7% mark, I am very proud of my results and I feel fantastic. Summer can’t come fast enough so I can have the shirt police chase me all around ‘cuz this guy is going topless. J Now I move on to the p90x/insanity hybrid, with an emphasis on bulking up. (Boy am I excited about the extra food)
So hopefully my story inspires some of you to make that decision, and motivates those of you who have already made the decision.
Big Thanks to Wayne, he really helped me a lot with my numerous questions and his site is just an encyclopaedia of information/motivation…… I sent some of my friends to the excuse zone even when their whining wasn’t fitness related.
And a HUGE thanks to my gorgeous Wife for putting up with my bad moods during carb withdrawal and teaching me lots about healthy food choices. Love ya lots
