Ben started off really soft and out of shape. No way could this guy ever see a 6 pack, right? He’s not even muscular.
Well, watch this video and see for yourself!!! When you see his overall transformation from where he started to his current progress, you’ll be picking your jaw up off the floor!
Ben’s Story =
I am so grateful to be able to share my transformation story. As a kid and teenager I was very active and involved in Sports year round. I was no All-American, but I was competitive, and had some success on the sports field, mainly I loved being part of a Team. Of course I was able to eat whatever I wanted whenever I wanted and stayed the same weight, around 170lbs. I never did any kind of strength training outside of what was required by each sport during the season. What I am saying is, you wouldn’t find me in the weight room, unless one of my Coach’s said, “you need to hit the weight room”. I would be more likely found on a basketball court, playing some pick-up games. I always had great times around the Basketball Court.
Fast forward, six months after High School and I was pushing 200lbs. I was not involved in any kind of regular exercise, and I was eating and drinking like a lot of other college age kids, of course the weight piled on fast. I kept the weight on, even though I tried some running, as a newlywed and first time homeowner, I got really comfortable and didn’t care too much about my fitness and health. That’s kind of sad because it had been so important to me before.
I had two things that made me want to lose some weight in August 2002, my wife was 5 months pregnant with our fist son and my co-worker and friend said “you’re getting fat”. I was 214lbs so I had two reasons to lose some weight, and mainly I wanted to be a healthy parent. I got down to 172lbs with Weight Watchers in about 3 months. Man I was committed! Of course I was not exercising and I was eating lots of processed food, basically starving and counting points, LOL! I never learned anything about nutrition. Guess What? During the next year and half, I would lose, gain, lose, and ultimately gain it all back.
Fast forward a few more years, another Son, a new house, a struggling business and a Bad Economy all added up to a lot of pressure, that I did not handle well. I made some selfish decisions and some poor choices personally, which led to chaos for my family. They were some really dark days that I would not wish on anyone. I was looking for shortcuts and making excuses and failing at life in every aspect.
I am so thankful I caught a few breaks. In my darkest days, three groups of people never gave up on me even though I had basically given up on myself. My Wife and Kids, My family and My Church Family. It took awhile but the thoughts, prayers, and actions of the people that cared about me put things in motion for better days. I changed people, places and things, and started a new career. My sister lined it up and my wife supported it, my parents pitched in and the wheels were in motion. One year into the career, I loved it. I felt like myself again. I wanted to improve in so many ways, and I had a simple thought, I’ll start exercising that can’t hurt.
A customer and friend mentioned P90X, so I started researching, and asking questions, because I thought it was a TV scam, a gimmick, and some kind of catch. It really can’t work that well. What I learned, if a person sticks to the program it will work. Today that seems so laughable to me! It’s been almost two years since I started asking questions, in that time I have
learned so much about nutrition and Fitness. I have become friends with some great people. I am in the best shape of my life, and it’s not even comparable to anything even in my High School years. The results I have gotten so far have exceeded anything I could have imagined.
My results don’t stop at the before and after picture, that’s only a small part of it. During this time I have learned to believe in myself, I have learned how to make better decisions, I am learning to be and taking the steps to strive to be the person God Called me to be. I have learned how to except disappointments and failures and turn them into learning experiences.
Beachbody has had such a positive effect on my life I have decided to become a team beachbody coach, and try to help others achieve their fitness and nutritional goals. If I can just help one person realize what their body is capable of, it will be all worth it.
Thank you to my wife and kids for being by my side. My wife has not only been supportive, she has joined in and working out with me daily. Thank you!!! Together we are forming Team Family Fitness, and we will continue to workout in our living room, and hopefully encourage others to join us.
A special Thanks to my Coach, Wayne Wyatt, and my challenge group the HIT Crew formally known as the Asylumites.
