Jason has been in the heat of the battle for a while. He was in the military, and then a correctional officer. He thought he needed to be “Big” to hold his own, and he definitely got big! But it was mostly just body fat, and he didn’t like what had become of his body. He knew he needed a structured, planned attack to regain control of his fitness. He found it in P90X, and he gave it total commitment. Congrats on getting fit again Jason! You busted your butt for it and deserve it!
Jason’s Story =
Hey everyone. This is my story. I went into the Army at the age of 18. I was physically fit because of daily mandatory fitness training (5:30am, rain or shine). I had no choice but to be in shape. As an Instructor and Squad Leader, I also trained thousands of soldiers in all aspects of fitness. After 9 years of traveling the world and a combat deployment to the Persian Gulf I left the military to concentrate on family life. I didn’t know I had PTSD when I left the military but it would affect my life as time went on. I immediately got a job as a Correctional Officer in a maximum security prison where I worked for 5 years. The other officers told me I needed to get “big” fast or I was not going to last very long in that environment. In desperation, I started lifting weights without any plan and overate. I did get big. Big and fat. Weight is required if you don’t want to get thrown around and intimidated by felons. I was going about it the wrong way. Not only did I have PTSD but I also was struggling with the daily job stress and violence of prison. Murders, assaults, riots, and stabbing were common. After 5 years I went into street patrol law enforcement and also worked on the U.S./Mexico border where there is also a lot of stress and danger. At that point I realized I could not continue on the path I was on mentally or physically. A friend (who bought it and didn’t do it) let me borrow P90X (which I had never heard of). Having a structured program appealed to my military mind. I needed a straight forward plan. I simply put my mind to the fact that I was going to do P90X and get back in good shape. From there I was addicted. It worked. Just like Tony Horton says, “Just follow the plan, we know it works”. I ended up continuing P90X and going on to Insanity. I still have some body fat to lose before I can see my abs again but it is minor. P90X, Insanity, and now P90X2 have changed my life. I just started coaching because I want to help my fellow veterans and officers have a lasting and fulfilling life. Beachbody has made this possible.
