Coach Wayne,
How do you know how much weight to lift? Does P90xvideo explain that because i have no experience lifting weights. I just do push ups, situps, and do curls with myheavy backpack?
I was wondering if on the cardio days (KempoX and Yoga) if I could just run for the 30mins. I guess Yoga is not really “cardio” but you know what I mean. Them workouts really bore me to death..lol. Looking at getting Insanity Workout soon to do sort of a hybrid thing like yourself. What do you think in the meantime? Thanks for all your help!!
Shane, you can sub running if you’d like. You might want to try to work your way up to a longer run (closer to an hour) in order to burn a good amount of calories. But if 30 minutes is what you can do for now, that’s fine.
Is there a workout in P90X that you need to quickly change your weights? is that why you recommend bowflex adjustable weights? I have plain dumbells and don’t mind changing them even if it takes a couple minutes…would that ruin the flow of a P90X workout?
I’m about to start week 4 and I’m a little concerned about the schedule. There’s no Plyo or Abs. Should I substitute one of the Yoga X workouts to keep the Plyo momentum going? Plus, should I add in the Ab Ripper X? Or, should I just shut up and stick to the plan?
Hey John, just stick to the plan. Your body needs this recovery week (and you’ll find it’s pretty tough anyways!). That’s part of getting the most out of your body is letting it rest at the right times.
coach i just got my order in and they totally messed it up :/ i ordered the pull up bar and everything but they only send me the dvd’s and calendar now i gotta wait even longer to start im so mad!!
Hey Cody! Sorry to hear that! I checked my coach office and the only order I show for you is that you joined and made me your coach the 25th. It doesn’t show a P90X order at all, so I’m not sure which P90X system you ordered (the regular or the deluxe package) because you must have ordered it through a different coach or before you made me your coach.
Anyways, call 1-800-240-0913 and they should be able to help you and make it right. Tell them I gave you the number! And if you placed your order without a coach and then made me your coach, would you mind letting them know you’d like me to be credited with the order! Thanks! :-)
Hello Wayne, i was wondering what time of day you do your workouts and why. I also eat pretty healthy its just i sometimes might eat something like tortilla chips will it matter that much? and does the Nutrition Guide really work? sorry to ask so much
thanks wayne, i was also wondering since im a teenager 16, im very active but i have belly fat 180 lbs and 5ft 11. Can’t i just do a workout like interval x alot like 5-6 times a week instead of doing all the other workouts to burn alot of fat? Also for yoga, i love it, but i dont burn much fat or gain muscle that day?
Correct, yoga doesn’t get the heart rate up and you don’t burn very many calories with it. Doing any kind of cardio every day will burn calories, but following a plan that provides your body with variety will be far more beneficial in the long run.
First 30 days, went from 230lbs and 35% Fat, to 190lbs and 23% Fat :D I so look forward to starting my second month tomarrow :D The change in ruteen will be nice :D
Hey coach wayne, just finished round 1 of p90x, and about to start round 2 next month, I’ve been using the resistance bands with the thera-band door anchor the whole 90 days, i bought the extreme kit for my round 2 but thera band couldn’t handle it, any suggestions for a STRONGER door anchor? THANKS.
Rein, I’m not sure about the thera-band door anchor. I use the door anchor that BB sent me with the V-sculpt 1-on-1′s (which is borrowed from their 10 minute trainer set — I could tell from the packaging). I use 75 lb bands and it’s held up fine so far (I’ve been doing V sculpt off and on for a couple months now).
I know you can buy V-Sculpt from BB or from my website. I’m not sure if you can buy just the door anchor though. Here’s the link to the Tony Horton 1-on-1 singles (which has V-Sculpt as one of the choices): http://teamripped.com/programs/tony-horton-one-on-one/1-on-1-singles
Hey Coach Wayne,
I’m a 15 years old, 5 9″ and 127lbs. Can I still do p90x or is it just for adults. Also I can’t follow the P90X nutrition plan because my mom won’t support it for me….. Soo could you tell me everything I need to know from a teens perspective. Thanks
Hey Harman, teens have great success with P90X all the time. It’s no different than it is for adults. Nutrition is still a huge part of the results, so start looking in my “nutrition zone” for tips on how to make it work for you. Bring it!
Hey coach Wayne,
I’am 15 years old,i’am 5’5,i weigh about 112 lbs,i’m wondering,does P90X work for me?,i’am skinny for this program,aside from that i have busy schedule,any tips regarding this?,about proper nutrition?..need HELP.. :D
Hey Marc, sure it will work for you, but you’ll want to taylor the nutrition and workouts to fit your goals of gaining muscle. Look under “my tips” and you’ll see the section I have about “building mass” with P90X. Bring it!
Jack, if you just “gain weight” without actually building muscle, all you are doing is adding body fat. You don’t want to add fat, do you? You want to add muscle right? Read my article “body fat vs. bulk”, and look at my “building mass” section under “my tips”. Hope that helps!
I have been a week already with the program and it’s pretty exhausting. So I hope this will pay off :)
I just have 2 questions. Because of time constraint, I am working out early morning but sometimes I need to rush to finish Ab RipperX to get the work and I think I am not getting the best results. Does it matter if I split the sessions in two? Mornings the body weight exercises and afternoons just Ab Ripper X? Would changing the schedule could affect performance?
My second question is regarding the diet. I am following your advice to start with Fat Shredder on 1900 calories (50%, 30% 20%). I am calculating my food for the week and normally I get close to my numbers on fat, carbs or protein but I am short on cal, or any other combination possible. What is my margin of error where I could feel I am hitting my goal?
Thanks again for your imput!!! I feel the pain but it’s a good pain.
Hey Mario, it WILL pay off if you keep pushing play! You can definitely split the ARX to a different time of day. That’s totally fine. On the nutrition, it’s okay to come in a little low as long as you feel good and your energy level stays up for the workouts. Otherwise, you’ll want to increase your serving sizes a bit to get some extra calories throughout the day.
Coach when you transformed you body for the first time and first round , you just used the P90x program ? or you added the 1 on 1 and the insanity? I want really want to transform my body in 3 months , whats your suggestion should i just use the p90x program or add more programs ?
Quick question. I am on day 3 of P90X classic getting ready to do shoulders and arms in a few hours. Problem is, I am so sore from chest and back still that I am unsure if I would be able to give today the effort I would like. I will still do the workout by all means, but is it worth it to wait a day for a bit more time to rest? I don’t think it will present a safety issue or anything, and I am not injured, I am just so tight and sore in my chest that I don’t quite have full range of motion or strength back yet. Let me know. If I don’t hear before my scheduled workout time, I am gonna go ahead and do what I can. Thanks!
Thanks for encouraging me to keep going coach. I did the workout. I didn’t bring it as hard as I would have liked to, but I stuck it out and did everything I could. I would say I completed 90% of the workout at about 20% less weight than I would have liked. Thanks again!
I’m on week 3 now, and while I’m not at the level to worry about this too much yet, I was wondering if you personally need more than the 52.5 lbs that the Bowflex weights offer. I’m doing 40+ lbs on some of my exercises now and imagine that by day 90 those same exercises will need more than 52.5 lbs (or at least I hope, haha). Did you buy additional free weights, or do you just do more reps at 52.5? Thanks in advance!
Hey Matt, there are several moves where I get up to 52.5 but that’s about all I can do for 10 reps (shoulder presses, some of the curls). The only moves that I would benefit from a lot more weight are lawnmowers, heavy pants, and that type of move. Since that is only every once in a while, I just go for higher reps on them rather than buy a whole new set of weights.
Thanks for the quick reply coach, the info is appreciated. I’ll be sure to post some before and after shots when the 90 days is over, hopefully I can help represent Team Ripped! The first three weeks has flown by!
I am about to start the 3rd phase in P90X and I was wondering if I could swap out Yoga for another cardio workout(cardiox or kenpox). The reason why is I am getting great results so far but I still have a belly and I want to get rid of it ASAP. I dont mind Yoga(i actually like it), I just want to get my body fat down faster.
You can always do extra cardio if you have the time and the energy. But don’t let it affect your ability to give your best effort on the main workout. I have never done extra cardio, because I believe max results come from going all out on just one workout per day and having a totally dialed in, locked down diet with no cheating. Most of the time people do extra cardio to make up for not eating right, and they are just wasting their time and still won’t get as good of results as if they’d learn how to maximize their nutrition.
Hey Urban, this is very much like the question you just asked me a couple days ago about cardio, but with extra lifting added to the question. Here’s what I told you already about extra cardio =
“You can always do extra cardio if you have the time and the energy. But don’t let it affect your ability to give your best effort on the main workout. I have never done extra cardio, because I believe max results come from going all out on just one workout per day and having a totally dialed in, locked down diet with no cheating. When you add extra lifting to the question, the cardio part of the answer is still the same, but the answer to the lifting part is NO! Don’t do extra lifting. That will HURT your results because your muscles grow at rest. The workouts are plenty to stimulate muscle growth. Then you need to let them recover so they can grow and get stronger. Read my article “overtraining” for more on that.
Coach Wayne,
How do you know how much weight to lift? Does P90xvideo explain that because i have no experience lifting weights. I just do push ups, situps, and do curls with myheavy backpack?
Yes, it explains it, but basically you pick a weight that you can get 8-10 reps with but the last 3 reps have to be HARD!
I was wondering if on the cardio days (KempoX and Yoga) if I could just run for the 30mins. I guess Yoga is not really “cardio” but you know what I mean. Them workouts really bore me to death..lol. Hey Dylan. Yes, on every lift workout you will be changing the weight on almost every exercise, so that’s why I like adjustable dumbbells.

Hey Khalad, read the following articles (just type them in the search field):
“when to workout”
“the Nutrition Guide”
“cheat meals”
That will answer your questions and help you get on track with dialing in your nutrition to get the results you want.

Hey Kyle, my first round was P90X Classic. I would suggest that for everyone’s first round as well.

Hey Jason, if you are going to sub for yoga, I’d suggest core synergistics.
Ok. I am going to do the P90X/Insanity hibird next round but I don’t want to buy Insanity until I finish round one of P90X. Thanks for all your help!
You bet Jason!
can i do intervals to lose more fat while doing p90x
You can always do extra cardio if you have the time and the energy. But don’t let it affect your ability to give your best effort on the main workout. ok thx and I will not cheat on the diet becouse I wanna get max result
can I do intervals and extra lifting to get optimal results
Hey Urban, this is very much like the question you just asked me a couple days ago about cardio, but with extra lifting added to the question. Here’s what I told you already about extra cardio =
“You can always do extra cardio if you have the time and the energy. But don’t let it affect your ability to give your best effort on the main workout.
