P90X

P90X is a revolutionary system of 12 sweat-inducing, muscle-pumping workouts, designed to transform your body from regular to ripped in just 90 days. You’ll also receive a comprehensive 3-phase nutrition plan, specially designed supplement options, a detailed fitness guide, a calendar to track your progress, online peer support, and much more. Your personal trainer, Tony Horton, will keep you engaged every step of the way, and you won’t believe your results!

**Bonus** Anyone who buys P90X through their coach (me!) will get 2 free DVD’s from Tony Horton’s 1-on-1 series.  It includes Fountain of Youth Yoga (a nice — shorter — yoga option for those who don’t like the 90 minute Yoga X), and Mammoth UML (Upper Middle Lower), a great full-body workout.  These are a $40 value!  What a deal!!  Just make sure you order through your coach, because otherwise you won’t get these extra free DVD’s!

My Review of P90X

When you receive P90X, you will receive 12 DVD’s, along with a Fitness Guide and Nutrition Guide. The Fitness Guide has about 100 pages that go into great detail about each of the workouts and how to do the exercises, allowing you to go to the gym and do the workouts if you would like. The Nutrition Guide is a comprehensive 3 phase guide that explains how, what, and when to eat. I really like the Meal Plan because it outlines exactly what foods you should eat every day. You will also need to have the P90X Pull-Up bar, which is excellent because you don’t have to attach it to anything. All you have to have is a door frame wide enough to hold it.  Once you begin the program, you’re quickly going to realize why the program is so effective! For one thing, you are going to be extremely sore during the first few weeks! I know I was! When Beachbody talks about muscle confusion, they aren’t kidding!

I started the program at 255 lbs and 22% body fat.  After the first month, I had lost 20 lbs and about 9% body fat, and was already in the best shape of my life, and knew that it was only going to get better. When day 90 rolled around, I had lost a total of 43 lbs and 15% body fat, and was absolutely ripped! I finished with just 7% body fat!  That’s CRAZY!!  I still can’t believe how amazing the results are with P90X!

People literally could not believe my transformation, and immediately wanted to know what I did. I told them that “if you are able to commit yourself to this program that you too could get into the best shape of your life!” If you’re one of those people who are tired of being out of shape and ready for a change, click below to try P90X today! It worked for me and it can for you too!

WHY IS P90X SO EFFECTIVE?

The secret behind the P90X system is an advanced training technique called Muscle Confusion™, which accelerates the results process by constantly introducing new moves and routines so your body never plateaus, and you never get bored! Whether you want to get lean, bulk up, or just plain get ripped, there’s an endless variety of ways to mix and match the routines to keep you motivated the full 90 days and beyond!

    Hi Coach,

Need your opinion. I have had to pause my P90X workouts for 3 weeks due to a combination of travel and injury. Most likely, it will be another 2-3 weeks before I can restart. For the time being, anything involving weights and arms is out of the question. I can do ply and abs, but that’s about it! My question is: “Where should I restart the program?” Should I go back to the beginning or should I just jump back in where I left off? Basically, I was about to start month 2 at the time.

    Thanks!

  2. Coach Wayne says:

Since you will be nearly 2 months “off” the lift days, I would recommend restarting from Day 1 when you can start lifting again. That’s a long break! It doesn’t make sense to pick up where you left off since you will have been off the lifting workouts for so long by then. Just stick to the nutrition and cardio for now, and start Day 1 again when you are cleared to lift. Keep the mental attitude up in the meantime, and get ready to attack it!

  3. Miguel says:

Man that was a fast reply!! :-))

Thanks for the feedback and will do as you suggest.

  4. Benjamin says:

Hi coach, i really want to start one of these beachbody programs, but I don’t know if P90X or Insanity. I’m a student and I don’t have too much time to hit the gym, so a home workout program is the solution to my workout problem. The only doubt I have is about the dumbells . I don’t know wich ones to choose for p90x. Or should I do insanity? Thanks a lot

  5. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Benjamin, I recommend P90X over Insanity to start because it has resistance as well as cardio (Insanity is cardio only). I have used 2 types of adjustable dumbbells that have both worked great — LifeSmart and Bowflex. Adjustables are pricey but save you money overall because you get every weight from 5-55 lbs all in one, and they save space.

  6. Aykut says:

    Hi Coach!

I’m starting P90X soon but, i need help about supplements and dumbbells.

First, i dont know which protein supplement should i take and when i take(i only got p90x videos). Actually, i dont even know when should i start exercise(i mean which time period in day). I got all diet lists that shows what should i eat for a wek but there nothing that shows when should i exercise and what should i eat/drink before and after exercise.

In the other hand, how much kg of dumbbell should i buy and when i increase the weight? And im thinking to use chest expander instead of chin-up bar. What would you suggest to me?

  7. Coach Wayne says:

Well, to be honest, my main suggestion would be to actually get the P90X program (not just copied DVD’s) because if you are going to put the work into doing these workouts, you darn well want to be sure you are going to get the results you want, and if you are clueless about the workout calendar and how to schedule the nutrition and supplements, it’s not going to go so well!

Feel free to read all my articles on “when to workout”, “protein review”, etc. (which address the questions you just asked. But I am going from a starting point of assuming you have the guidebooks when I give advice.

  8. Kaustubh says:

    hi Coach!!

i am planning to start my P90X from 4th July 2011 i am 234lbs and 5.5ft . In the starting how much should be the
    (i)weight of the dumbbells
(ii) will any Protein powder will do
and many food items are not available here where i live so if i control my diet with the food items available here will do??

  9. Coach Wayne says:

Hi Kaustubh! Look at the following articles =

“Weights and reps I use” (so that you can see what I use) — you’ll notice that you need a wide range of weights because the exercises are all different.

“Protein review” — discusses the types of protein powder

“nutrition all in one” — has links to my sample diets, how to track what you eat, etc.

  10. Puttbudgin says:

Can you do p90x with just 25lbs dumbbells? Thats all I got is a pair of 25.

  11. Coach Wayne says:

That will be very difficult Puttbudgin. I use everything from 10 lbs on some of the shoulder rotations to 55 lbs on some of the back and curl exercises. Just look at my article “weights I use” and you’ll see that you need an assortment of resistance to make the exercises work.

  12. Puttbudgin says:

Thanks for the info coach how many dumbbells do you need one or two for the routines?

  13. Coach Wayne says:

You need 2 dumbbells — one for the right arm and one for the left :-).

  14. Paul says:

Hey coach, I only have one more month of insanity. In this long month, iv seen some great results. After insanity im gonna do p90x, I was wondering if theres a p90x upgrade, like there is for insanity abd if the one on one dvds special is,still available.

  15. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Paul, P90X is all inclusive (there is no upgrade). There is P90X Plus (a separate program), but it’s not part of P90X. And the 1-on-1′s are a separate set of workouts as well. The special offer on the 1-on-1′s ended when they stopped releasing them in June (the special was that you’d get 50% off P90X2 if you were subscribed to the 1-on-1 monthly series).

  16. Wmisinski says:

DO you need the chin up bar and bands to do the program am thinking of buying P90x but to get everthing pretty steep in price

  17. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Wmisinski, you need either — pullup bar and dumbbells

    or

    – resistance bands (which you can use for both the dumbbell exercises and use a door anchor to simulate the pullup moves)

Bands are the cheaper route, but not quite as effective in my opinion. Either way, it’s still a whole lot cheaper than a gym membership LOL! And it gets results!

  18. Greg says:

As far as Yoga X goes, should I stick with it or sub-out for something that will be more of a cario burn? I am focusing on building lean muscle and fat loss.

  19. Coach Wayne says:

Stick with it Greg unless you can’t stand yoga. In that case sub Core Synergistics.

  20. Juan says:

Hey coach, well i was just wondering do i have to use the nutrition guide to get ripped or can i just eat healthy my own way?

  21. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Juan, you can modify, but “eating healthy” won’t get you maximum results! If you want to get ripped, start reading through the “nutrition zone” tab, specifically the “nutrition all-in-one” article. Hope that helps!

  22. Juan says:

    okay thanks alot

  23. Juan says:

oh yeah coach, im drinking this protein shake called protein +, do u think it could work instead of shakeology or the p90x supplement?

  24. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Juan, I’ve never heard of Protein +. Look at my article “why shakeology” to learn about some things to consider when choosing a “substitute” for shakeology.

  25. Juan says:

okay thanks i will do that

  26. Baseball Player says:

    Coach Wayne,

I’m a professional Baseball player in the Houston Astros organization. I’m 6’2 195 with approx. 10-12% body fat. I was planning on doing p90X but I wanted to make sure if I did it I was not going to lose weight as I wanted to stay within the 195-205 range and within 6-8% body fat but at the same time add strength as it is very important in my profession. Im also young and know very little about nutrition so I wanted to make sure I’m doing everything right so when I head to spring training, I will be in the best possible shape I can be. Do you have any input for me. Thanks alot.

  27. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Baseball Player! You can definitely use P90X to help you with your offseason training. Many pro athletes do. The key thing will be tailoring your nutrition to meet your goals. If you want to keep your weight steady, you will need to focus on a “phase 2″ energy booster diet (that’s what it’s called in the guide). You should definitely give this a try. You will be impressed.

  28. rj says:

    Hi coach,
I recently lost kenpo x from traveling. Call customer ser, they charged me almost $40 to get it. Need some advice. And what can I sub for it by the time.

  29. Coach Wayne says:

Hey RJ, you should sub cardio x for it if you don’t want to replace it and all you have are the P90X DVD’s. Cardio X accomplishes the same thing as Kenpo X.

  30. azif says:

hey coach wayne, wat time should i need to do my workouts and also i only have resistance bands and not have pullup bar so will that work?

  31. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Azif, you can do your workouts any time of day, but I prefer mornings. Read my article “early morning workouts” for the reasons why. And while I prefer the feel of dumbbells and a pullup bar, you can definitely still get good results with bands. Just keep pushing play!!

  32. azif says:

thanks for the fast reply coach..also i have to do workouts once in a day or twice?

  33. azif says:

hey coach, while i am doing workouts i feel very tired and my heart beats fast so that i am not able to continue further and i used to stop for an 5 minutes and continue after that is that k or i have to do something for maximizing my stamina?i am 5’6 150lbs

  34. atif says:

hey coach wayne,i am having more fat in hips and stomach how to reduce it?also i am not able to do more than 10 pushups i fell exhausted after that and not able to do any workout after that…so wats your suggestion pls help me out..

  35. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Azif, follow the schedule that came with your P90X.

  36. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Azif, just like Tony says, do your best and forget the rest. Use the pause button if you need it until you get stronger and fitter.

  37. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Azif, you just aren’t in shape yet since you just started. That’s normal. Read my articles “struggling” and “stubborn belly fat” to learn more.

  38. azif says:

    k coach thanks

  39. jack says:

hi coach wayne,i was working out in gym for an year and i had good body shape and muscles but for past six months i didnt hit the gym and i became fat and belly fat too my chest has become loose and fat all over the body…….so now wat should i do for getting rippped p90x or insanity pls help me out with this….thanks in advance

  40. Coach Wayne says:

I’d recommend P90X Jack. For details on why, read my article “P90X or Insanity”. Hope that helps!

  41. jack says:

    thanks coach wayne

  42. kaysi says:

    hi coach Wayne
I over-trained for p90x and did not see any good results, my question is would you recommend x2 or start over again with p90x? thank you

  43. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Kaysi, if you’ve completed P90X you can do either P90X again or P90X2. It’s up to you. When you say you overtrained, how is that? Did you not follow the calendar for the workouts? It’s important to trust the system and the calendar. Read my article “overtraining” for more details if you’d like. But the choice of what to do next is totally up to you. You would be ready for either.

  44. ArisG says:

    Hello Coach Wayne,
My name is Aris and i am from Greece i am working out like 5 months now. However I have seen defrence but not as good results as P90x.First of all i wanted to mention that I am a 16 years old student and i dont have much time,so I go to the gym 3 times a week x2 hours + i do some work out at my home.In addition ,I am on a strict diet but i dont think it fits with the gym program,my body type and i think in the gym they are trying to fool me by giving me false program because they are too lazy to really train me,or they dont have the time.In conclusion,i would like to ask you if you can help me because as i mentioned i leave in Greece and i dont know if the distance is a problem for you.
    Best regards,
    ArisG

  45. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Aris, to do P90X you only need about 1 hour per day (less time than you already spend at the gym). So that shouldn’t be a problem for you. You can’t officially make me your coach since you aren’t in the US, but you can feel free to learn from all the info I have on this website and ask questions along the way. If you will stick to the P90X plan, both the workouts and nutrition, you’ll see great results.

  46. ArisG says:

I really appreciate your fast respond.I’ll see what I am going to do and i will contact with you later.

  47. day says:

I am doing my first round of P90x and I completely hate doing the Legs and Back routine. How important is that routine? Would you advise I stick with it, since it is my first round, or can I sub something else for it?

  48. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Day, it’s a good workout but if you hate it, sub a different upper body workout for it (like one of the 1-on-1′s such as 30-15 or Just Arms).

  49. Allen says:

    Hey coach,

Concerning Yoga X, I know as a christian yoga can be unbiblical if it gets weird spiritually. How do you approach Yoga X as a christian? Do you play it without the words and sound? Or do you compromise and go with it? Conviction is more important than my body! Yet, to the pure, all things are pure, unless it causes me to stumble.

    Thank you

  50. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Allen, good question. I would never take a full blown yoga class because of the eastern mysticism stuff (aside from the fact that I hate yoga anyways). However, there is nothing spiritual about P90X Yoga one way or the other. It’s just stretching, balance, and exercise. I say each person should do what they are comfortable with doing as it relates to their convictions, but I have no spiritual reason to avoid P90X yoga. I do avoid it most of the time because I simply hate doing it though LOL! I wrote a whole blog titled “yoga” a while back if you’d like to learn more.
