    1. austin says:

hey coach i got a question, im looking to lose a lot of body fat and i have asylum, and iv tryed every asylum workout, but for the best results in losing body fat, should i do insanity asylum schedule or the insanity and insanity asylum hybrid, i personally think the hybrid looks tough but wanted to know your input

    2. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Austin, Insanity is great for cardio. So is Asylum, but it’s more dialed in for sports performance. If losing body fat is your primary goal, use the Asylum/Insanity hybrid schedule.

    3. austin says:

alright coach, im also gonna start my zig zag diet today, im gonna do 1600 low and 2400 high, will i get better results with the 3/1 high/low schedule, since you will less likely get your body used to you diet?

    4. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Austin, I’ve never read any study that says 3/1 is better than 5/2. It’s probably best to rotate it up from time to time just to keep the body guessing.

    5. Abiye Okuchaba says:

      Hey Coach,

Does The Asylum do any set ab workouts like *cardio abs*, or *ab ripper X*?

    6. Coach Wayne says:

No, Asylum doesn’t have any set ab workout. It has lots of general ab/core work in several of the workouts though.

    7. Jose says:

Do you think I can lose body fat around the belly and get muscle tone from asylum.

    8. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Jose, you can definitely burn off body fat with Asylum. You’ll also tone the muscles. I don’t think you’ll build more muscle though (you’d need P90X for the lift days to do that).

    9. James Chapman says:

      Hey Coach,
Once I finish Asylum, should I wait till after cross country season to start p90x if my goal is losing a little fat on Asylum and gaining muscle on p90x?

    10. Coach W says:

      James,
Personally I would finish Asylum, take a few days off–some say a week, but I never take more than 3-4 days–and then start P90X IF you feel it won’t interfere with your Cross-Country training. Remember that the body needs time to recover in order to see any changes. Overtraining can be counterproductive to your goals. Doing P90X during cross-country will help you to gain stength and endurance, but you may not see much in the way of gaining muscle mass because of all the cardio that you will be doing. I am NOT suggesting that you SHOULD NOT do P90X at the same time, just that you should understand that, while it will have some benefits, gaining mass may not be one of them (you will gain some muscle, but it may not be a huge gain). AND you can always do another round of P90X or incorporate it into a hybrid for your next round…that’s the beauty of it—the options are endless!

    11. Desmond S says:

Hey coach, Is there anywhere i can buy the Asylum without buying it online?

    12. Coach Wayne says:

No Desmond. It’s only available on line.

    13. Keenan says:

Coach Wayne I need those bans they use on asylum, I have the base kit but they did not come in the box, how can I get those?

    14. Coach Wayne says:

Call coach relations at 1-800-240-0913 and tell them they weren’t in your box. They should have been!

    15. Keenan says:

I called the beachbody custer service number and they said that those only came with the deluxe asylum kit, I explained to him I already have a chin up bar because i’ve been doing P90X so i did not buy the deluxe, didnt need it, he then told me I would have to buy them seperately for $6.95 a piece but you gave me a different number so I’ll try that, thanks

    16. Keenan says:

So heres the deal Coach Wayne, when I ordered asylum it was from a email I get from beachbody, coach relations told me I only get the bands with it if I order thru teambeachbody and that you did not recieve credit for it, I said that can’t be because as I went thru the order it asked if I had a coach and I said yes, Coach Wayne Wyatt so Nathaly ID# LXC019 at coach relations helped me to transfer the order to you so recieve credit and I get my bands, I cc’d you on a email to your coachwayne@teamripped email address, please let me know you recieved that email because I want to make sure you get credit for the order and I get my bands asap

    17. Coach Wayne says:

Oh, very cool Keenan! Thanks man. Yes, orders placed through me should include the strength bands for the Asylum base kit (just like the picture shows), but perhaps when people order from the plain Beachbody page (rather than teambeachbody) they don’t include the bands.

Glad we both came out ahead! You get your bands and I get credit for your order. Win / Win!!

    18. Jim2542 says:

      Hey Coach,
My Asylum package came in today and I notice that it says “Volume 1.” Does this mean there are going to be more Volumes to it later?

    19. Coach Wayne says:

      Yes Jim, it does!!

    20. Jeff says:

      Hey coach,
I’m thinking about buying the asylum but i cant skip rope very well do you think i can modify by just jumping or should i not get it.
      thanks

    21. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Jeff, they actually show some people “pretending” to jump rope as the modified move (doing the same jumps but without the rope). You could definitely do that.

    22. Ivan says:

      Hey Coach,

Just ordered Asylum (through your link of course) and Im pumped. Looking forward to the challenge.

      Ivan

    23. Tyler says:

What is the difference between the base and deluxe kit? Is it just the chin up bar and assist? They show the bands on the base kit w/ ladder and rope. What’s the $90 difference?

    24. Coach Wayne says:

Yes Tyler, that’s the only difference. If you already have a pullup bar and don’t need the assist, then get the base kit.

    25. Tyler says:

      Coach W,

I can’t get the insane abs DVD to work. I’m assuming my friend you gifted them to me bought them off Craigslist or Ebay as he keeps balking to send in to Beachbody. Q: What is a good replacement for Insane Abs? Was thinking Killer Abs, but I keep hearing it’s almost like doing ABRX. You got any good ideas for a workout for AB days?

    26. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Tyler, you can just buy the real 3 DVD Insanity upgrade, which includes Insane abs, upper body weight training, and max sports for $45. That would give you a nice assortment. Or you can use cardio abs from the base Insanity kit if you have that.

    27. Craig T. says:

I was wondering about that, The up grade to insanity… For abs and only $45.00…Not bad. Thanks for the yip, Coach.
“But that ABRX She’s a blast!”…(with heavy french acsent.) LOL….

    28. Ivan says:

Im just about to finish my first round of Asylum, and I wanted to give my critique for those thinking of going for it. So you know where me and my critique are coming from: I have done P90X and got great results, and I consider myself an athelte and stay very active in sports year round.

      The Pros:
      - Shaun T is a great coach. If you want a all business, no joking around type of trainer, then Shaun T is your man.
      - Most of the videos are less than 1 hour long. That being said:
      - Very intense workout. There is very little rest/recovery time between workouts, which keeps your heart rate up and build endurance. Even though you might only do a 40min workout, when your done you know you “did work”.
      - This could be considered a Pro or Con: Some moves are more difficult to master than what I found in P90X. It has taken me more time to be confortable in and with some of the moves. However, these moves are hard so that you become a better athelte.
      - Core, Core, and more Core: I tend to dislike core specific or intended exercises/workouts. But, Asylum hits your core hard and in a variety of ways. Every exercise has some type of core strength requirement, which I know love. I have seen definite results in my core from firmer obliques and to a stonger lower back.
      - This might seem funny, but the other people in the video really struggle sometimes. Unlike some of the P90X people who seem to be machines, the Asylum folks bring it, but also you see them taking breaks (only to be told by Shaun T to get back in).
      - 30 days isnt so bad. Often we fail at goals due because we cant see the finish line. Asylum durration is perfect for someone who could be afraid of the 60 or 90 day commitment, but still wants to get back in physical shape.

      Cons:
      - The majority of the time the exercises are time based. For instance: do this for 30 sec or 1 min. Personally, Iam number drivin (8 reps, 10 reps, etc). So for me it has taken more mental strength to push and not give up. It seems that with P90X you have your number and you go get it, where as in Asylum you stay with it for 30-60sec. This was especially hard in the beginning when the moves were new and still being mastered. This is not so much a Con as it is something that has tested my mental ability to push in a different way.
      - Strength/Weight Training: This was not a con to me personally, but I could see it hindering some. You dont use alot of dumbells in Asylum, mainly your own body weight. However, this goes back to the athletic focus of the program. You might not increase your curls but you’ll probably be better at a variety of real life scenarios and of course in sports.
      - Variety: Im not saying that you dont get a complete full body workout, but a couple of more programs would have been nice. I guess thats the P90X side of me.

Overall I dont think you cant go wrong with Asylum. Be ready to work hard and see the results. This program will remain in my arsenal to get me ready for athletic events and to provide me with a change after a P90X round.

“Dont hate me, love me; cuz Im going to make you look good” -Shaun T.

    29. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Ivan! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Great review!

    30. Ron says:

      Coach,
I have finished a round of P90x and have started my second round. My goal is to get ready for p90x2 which I did preorder. I’m looking to really loose some fat without losing too much muscle. I have insanity and did a round 2 yrs ago. I found it very hard on my quad tendons with all the repetive squating moves and ended up with a bursitis that just took months too go away. I have no issues with p90x because its not so repetive. Curious what you would recommend- Asylum, hybrid, or just finish p90x ( I’m in phase 2 round 2 and will have to repeat this phase since I’m going on vacation for 10 days). Thanks

    31. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Ron, I’d recommend either just P90X or a P90X Insanity (or P90X Asylum) hybrid. But with your history, doing either all Insanity or all Asylum will take too much a toll on your legs. Mix those intense cardio days with your P90X lift days for the perfect combination. I think Asylum is more fun, but if you already have Insanity just use it so you don’t have to buy anything new. I bet with only 3 Insanity days per week you won’t have those problems again.

    32. Ron says:

Thanks coach. I will follow your hybrid routinue.

    33. Carlos says:

hey coach quick question, im i going to lose muscle mass if i do insanity or insanity asylum

    34. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Carlos, with Insanity you will because it’s all cardio, unless you mix in the Upper Body Weight Training workout from Insanity Deluxe. With Asylum, there is enough strength work that you won’t lose muscle, but you won’t gain muscle either. You’d need to do a lifting program like P90X to gain muscle. Hope that helps!

    35. paul says:

Coach I know this is unrelated, I was wondering where I can find the my vegan coach post. I can’t find it, did it get erased ?

    36. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Paul. I took it down since it was a bio that I took straight from the veganbodybuilding website and I only wanted to pass it along so y’all could learn about Monica. I didn’t want to leave it up since it wasn’t my original material.

    37. Vnita Sroa says:

      Hi Coach

Can I still purchase this through you if I’m from the UK? If so How much is the Shipping charge?

    38. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Vnita! Unfortunately you can’t buy through me since you are in the UK. But you can call the main BB number and ask for their international dept. and they should be able to help. Sorry! I can’t wait until they get teambeachbody and coaching opened up internationally because I know so many non-US folks who are dying to either coach or plug in with a coach and get the benefits of a teambeachbody account.

    39. Vnita Sroa says:

Thanks for the info coach. Il be the first to ambasador in the UK!!!!!!!!

      Better head over to BB!

      :)

    40. kjetil says:

what tools do i need for insanity asylum?

    41. Coach Wayne says:

The tools come with it (rope ladder, speed rope, strength bands). You will also need a pullup bar if you want to do the mountain climber / pullup moves (although there are modified moves using dumbbells) and you’ll need some dumbbells for the strength work.

    42. Patrick says:

      Hey Coach

I am currently doing a p90x/Insanity hybrid. I’m currently in phase 2 so i’m doing the max insanity workouts and phase 2 of p90x. I am trying to get into shape for a flag football league that starts in march so my question is would it be more beneficial to stick with a p90x/insanity for a 3rd phase or once i finish this phase to start doing the asylum or an asylum/p90x hybrid. Thanks so much for your help and this site in general it is like one stop shopping for fitness knowledge :)

    43. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Patrick, if you have access to Asylum, I’d recommend incorporating that into the third phase because it’s great for athletic explosiveness. You’ll be a beast on the field!

    44. garrett macdonald says:

hey coach i have a question about the jump rope in asylum, i am going to do insanity and then p90x again first but am also looking into buying the asylum. I have a drop ceiling in my basement so i cannot be swinging a rope around breaking the ceiling tiles, i need to know if i can buy the asylum and still get results without using the speed rope?

    45. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Garrett, sure you can simulate the jump rope without actually using it (they actually have some of the people on the video doing that exact thing).

    46. Brendan from Philly says:

      Hey Coach,

In the next day or two I am going to order Asylum from the link on your site. I want to add the DVD protection (replace any scratched/unplayable discs no questions asked) that I got with P90X when I bought via phone through Team Beachbody. Do you know if it is possible to add that option through the online checkout after I click the link on your site? Thanks!

    47. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Brendan, anytime you order through a coach like me, you automatically get a lifetime warranty. You don’t need to pay anything extra.

    48. Jaron says:

Coach i was thinking of purchasing asylum and i was wondering if we go through you do we have to pay it all in one payment or can we have the option to do three separate payments?

    49. Coach Wayne says:

Hey Jaron, unfortunately teambeachbody (which is where the coach orders go through) doesn’t allow the 3 payment option. If you are needing to do the 3 payment plan, you have to go straight through the main beachbody site to make the order. I don’t get credit for it, but that’s okay with me if it’s better for your budget. Do what you need to do! :-)

    50. Hey coach, i am going to order some stuff through your link soon, and not to be personal, but do you get much commission per order? I am order shakeolgy soon!
