Hey Mark, the problem with that hybrid is that the strength workout has a lot of lifting, so you don’t want it sandwiched between 2 other lifting workouts. Read my article “overtraining” for details. Also, read my article “creating a hybrid” (that’s an old one — you’ll have to type it in the search box and scroll down a ways to find it). Hope that helps!

Btw, I was reading your articles about nutrition and for the month of Dec I was following Phase 1 of Atkins diet since I was in Asia and didnt have access to a gym. If i was to go up to 150G would that cause me to gain weight since I was only taking in about 30G during month of Dec. Would it be smart to slowly ease my way up to 150G? Also, are BB products not available internationally ?
Hey Mark, I’d advise you to get off the Atkins diet and switch to the fat shredder % right away. Atkins-type diets are dangerous for your lean muscle mass (your body can burn up your lean muscle for fuel).
And as of right now Mark, some BB products (like the workouts) are available internationally, but not the supplements. It’s a customs problem.

Coach Wayne, I currently work out at the local gym and also train for Triathlons, I am using Shakeology and love the product. Now I am thinking of doing P90X and had a couple of questions. I noticed that you had a 1,900 Calorie diet in your first round of P90X. My question to you is?? What if I am doing P90X in the morning and then later in the day running 6 miles? Is there such thing as too much of a caloric deficit?
Hey Marc, yes there is such a thing as going too low on calories. If you run too low on calories, your metabolism will suffer. I was running a 1,000 deficit when I was at the 1900-2000 level (since I should have been at 3,000 for maintenance). Depending on your size, how much your daily maintenance level of calories is, and if you are trying to maintain weight or lose weight, you will want to figure out how many calories you need to run a deficit of no more than 1,000 cals below your daily burn with your base metabolic rate plus your cals burned from exercise (the P90X and the running). Hope that helps!

Im keeping a diet of approx. 2000 cal. Usually coming in at 45g fat 175g carbs and 215-220g of protein. Looking to gain some size on the last phase of P90x. Not at the body percentage I want (12-13%). Any suggestions.
Hey Rob, that diet looks pretty good (a little high on carbs and a little low on protein but not far off). But trying to build size and lose body fat are competing goals, and if you are at 12-13%, I’d say you need to focus on continuing to drop that before building size. Read my article “Big ripped / Small Ripped” for more on that. Keep bringing it!

I then asked if I could purchase the manual and dvd`s but was told no. Do you know if there is any way around this? You can do it either way Ed (although both options are basically 5 straight days from Friday to Tuesday, with Wed and Thur off). So it’s really no different either way.

Hey Jason, good question. That program is still in the development / test group stage, so nothing difinitive yet. Once they get a good sample of results and make changes as needed, then I will know something about a release date (it’ll be a while coming though since so much research goes into turning out a quality product).
Have you ever heard of the “Tough Mudder” race? They encourage teams because you probably can’t make it through on your own. You should think about forming a “TeamRipped” Tough Mudder team to do the one near you and fill it full of your members. I think it would be a cool way to celebrate success and team work together.
Hey Biblemonkey, we’ve done a warrior dash which was a ton of fun (but not as intense an undertaking as a tough mudder). I’ve checked their schedule and there aren’t any tough mudders in my area, but I’m always up for something like that depending on everyone’s schedule. Maybe this summer when everyone had gone through X2 and is in tip top condition we could organize one.
I’m definitely a “misfit”. Was in awesome shape as of august 2011 but through a series of setbacks ended up four months later and 20 lbs heavier. Where is the page for becoming part of the misfit challenge? My buddy and I are on week three of P-90X and I’m doing the workouts and nutrition faithfully.

I personally really do not like yoga and I understand it can make me more flexible and help my coordination but I’d rather try to improve those doing something else where I feel my time well spent. coach my name is david im planing on starting p-x asap i joined you team at bb and i got my videos and equipment i also have supplements i have read a lot of articles you have here on the site now my question is i wanna gain muscle mass and i read you need to take in 1 gram of protein per pound you weight? i have different types of taking protein in i got liquid protein for on the go i have some bars low carbs i have creatine and and ignition for before workouts to give energy does that sound good to you also i have bought some chicken breast and some fish both pretty low calorie im ready for this im only 19 years old and i want to make the change now im not that bad of shape i am 5’9 and weight around 145 i lost my abs so that’s when i noticed it was time to do something about it i have gone to the gym before but i just didnt see any results what so ever so p90x is hopefully the answer what of the things i said are wrong or anything that you would change another thing is do i need to start with a group or can i just do it on my own by group i meant like online thanks for taking your time to read this i know its pretty long bit i just need these few things cleared in ordered to start

Hey Oleg, muscle milk is not a good quality source of protein. It’s better than nothing, but it’s nowhere near as good as the ON whey you are using.

Hey Luis, I’ve never liked yoga either. I’d recommend you sub Core Synergistics for it.
