Coach W Checking In!

Hey teamRIPPED!

I hope everyone is having a great July!  We are having a great summer.  I wish it wasn’t already closing in on the school year again (since I have to wake up earlier during the school year to get all my stuff done and be ready to get the kids up and fed).  But no worries.  I just plan for it and make it work.  Whatever it takes! (yes, for those of you doing Body Beast you know that’s one of the catch phrases LOL).

I have posted a couple articles already this week about Body Beast (my full review and my Beast diet).  And I’m really excited that the head of production for Body Beast approached me about joining our teamRIPPED Beasts group to follow our progress.  We are already getting attention from the guys at the top, and I’m sure we will have many infomercial spots come out of our team.  Beast up!

For those of you who have tried to add me as a “friend” on MyFitnessPal, I have bad news.  Apparently they cap it at 1,000 friends, so I can’t add anyone else at the time.  But as I make adjustments to my daily diet, like I have while doing the Body Beast, I’ll post it so you can see what I’m eating (like I did in yesterday’s article).  Until they lift the silly restrictions, that’s the best I can do.  Sorry!

Keep pushing yourselves to be your best.  Plug in with our accountability groups (I have them linked in the Getting Started Right tab).  Go out on a limb and encourage the people you know to join you in getting healthy and fit.  Trust me, leading others is the best way to know that you will keep pushing forward yourself.  That was one of the biggest factors in my decision to become a coach.  I knew that if I was going to lead others in getting fit and healthy, I sure as heck had to walk the walk myself.  I had great results, but I didn’t want to fall off the wagon and go back to where I started.  It’s the best form of accountability you can have!  Offer to help others.  It will help you as well!

And 2 favors that I ask:

1) If you like the hard work I put into writing my articles and videos, PLEASE help me out by sharing them.  Click the share links below them and share them on FB, twitter, etc.  It really helps me get more exposure and grow teamRIPPED!

2) Also, as always, remember that the way I benefit from being your coach is that I earn a commission from any Beachbody products that you purchase, as long as you buy them through my site, www.teamRIPPED.com, or by logging in to www.teambeachbody.com to do your shopping (If you buy from the plain beachbody site I get no credit). It helps with the amount of time I spend answering all your questions and helping you out. Thank you! I really appreciate it!

Keep bringing it and inspiring others to do the same gang!!

Wayne Wyatt

Hi Coach, I just turned 50 in July and have been doing p90x for about a year now. I have resently been doing p90x and insanity on the weekends. I do p90x and ab Ripper in the morning and Insanity in the afternoon so that is 4 workouts a week. My work schedule is crazy so i have not followed the programs exactly but i do "bring it" everytime i workout. I have change my body over the last year but I am still fighting to get rid of the love handles but don't know if its my diet or not enough workouts. I am 5'11.75" and weight 182'ish. Any tips to loose the handles would be great. thanks, Chris

Chris, losing those last lbs and love handles is almost all about nutrition. Sure more workouts will help increase your deficit because you will be burning more. But you need to have your diet spot on. What are you eating at currently for calories? What percentages? At 182, I would tell you to go 2000 calories (or less) and Fat Shredder. Run that for an honest month and see what you can do!

To be honest I have not been counting the calories like I should. I have myfitnesspal set to 1900 calories, protein 50%, carbs 30% and fat 20% (when I follow it). Is that where i should be? I was on classic p90x so I will switch to Fat Shredder and let you know in a month what happens. thanks.

That's exactly it Chris. You have to be 100% committed to the workouts and the nutrition.

Thanks coach! I am just going to do p90x again and then see what I want to do after that!

I also was wondering what is your opinion on this whole "Intermittent Fasting" phenomenon people are talking about?. The way it works is that you fast for 16 hours and eat for 8 hours. For example, I could fast from 8 pm to 12 pm and only eat from 12 pm to 8pm and end up burning way more calories and fat because it gives my body more time to burn off stubborn fat. Apparently they say it works 2 times better than eating 5 or 6 small meals a day to raise your metabolism. I just thought i would share that thought with you and hear your opinion on this? Thanks

Jean, I have heard a lot about it. Many people have asked, and I checked it out. As soon as they started saying my system wasn't good, I didn't give it too much thought. I know what P90X and Beachbody has laid out works. It works well. The whole teamRIPPED community is proof. IF might be good, I just know that what I have been doing IS good. I know if I was a hard gainer, IF would be horrible! I would hate to think that getting in all my calories is hard in a normal day and then to limit myself to only 8 hours to eat! That would be tough!

Wassup Coach Wayne!!! Anyways i just had a question to ask you. People always debate wheter one should workout in the morning or not. Some say its the best time because you burn more calories while others say that most of the calories you end up burning are your muscles since you havent fed your body yet by working out early in the morning. Whats your take on working out in the morning? Good? bad? Thanks

Jean, I work out in the AM so that it is always done. Nothing can come up to mess it up! You are in a fasted state, but have glycogen stores for energy. I just have more energy in the morning too! No matter the time, keep it consistent and get it done!

Okay I have a question here, Im about to start up p90x (the original) again, but in late august I was going to buy insanity. but now that I hear of x2 I don't know which to get, so I was wanting some advice. I'm  5'10 and 150 pounds and I want to be around 135-140, which is better for my goals?

Autumn, you can easily lose 10-15 with P90X. After that, it will really depend on your interests. I loved X2. Very challenging and really strengthened me all around. If you love cardio, Insanity would be a great option.

this is the deal: 4 x 20kgs/44lbs 4 x 15kgs/33lbs 2 x 10 kgs/22lbs 3 x 2.5kgs/5.5lbs 4 x 1.25kgs/2.75lbs 7' olympic bar 378lbs not including bar. Thanks, Ken

That's a lot of weight for $50! Get an EZ bar and you are set!

Brian it was deleted? Did you buy it?

Wayne, After a P90X2 round and a P90X2 hybrid round, I have started another round of P90X classic. I am one week in and I am totally crushing it. I am sore all over. I have dropped 5 pounds this week (vacation weight). My issue is this: I was suffering from bad tendonitis (golfer's elbow)before going on X2. During the past 3 months I have had little elbow issues. Today the ol' elbow issue has popped back up. I did 126 pull-ups today during legs & back, more than any X2 workout. I don't want to "re-injure" myself. Any suggestions? Would it be "anti-X" to not do maximum pull-ups? I am peaking now. This is my round to make things happen. I am ready to go from 4 pack to ripped.

Greg, no it is ok to leave a few reps left over. It is smart, remember that it is about getting results! Not getting injured. Keep that nutrition dialed in and you have no choice but to be flat out ripped!

Thanks Coach! I will bump it a few hundred calories and take measurements weekly from now on to make sure I'm fueling up enough. I'm still feeling Beasty though! LOL!

Coach, Been killing BodyBeast and on day 19, but I have not gained at 1 lb since. Haven't measure my BF%, but I don't see why it would go down. 177lbs (10% BF), eating 3000-3100 calories a day clean. Not if I should bump up the calories a tad bit come day 21 before bulk phase, or stick to the plan and the recommended CIM increase of 15% of CIM. My trust is in the plan, but seems as though my metabolism is still in X2 mode! LOL! Thanks Coach Wayne!

Rafael, if you aren't gaining weight, you aren't eating enough. Those calculations are just a starting point. Dial up the calories a bit and give it a week. Fast metabolisms are hard to nail down!

Hey coach i asked a question above and you said to take the pictures at day 60 so i was supposing you also meant like that for day 30 and 90. But if i take my final pics at day 90 then i will still have about 3 more weeks to the program?

Josh also take finals too. With longer phases, just record the days of your pictures. It is nice to have more than not enough.

do like fat shredder 50 25 25 50 30 20 or even 55 25c 20 fat ?

Mike, I have always tried for 50/30/20 but normally end up high on protein and carbs and under 20% for fats.

Hey coach, i am on day 58 of p90x2 but I'm extending phase 2 a little longer than 3 weeks so i was wondering if i should take my day 60 photos actually at day 60 or when i finish phase 2? Thanks in advance

Josh, take them at day 60 to get even increments of time between the pics.

Coach-Have you tried the new "improved" SO chocolate non vegan. I am not a fan and while I understand they wanted to improve I am curious what others think. Too fruity and not as chocolatey as before. Hope thy pull a Coca Cola and go back to classic. Still better than a donut though. :)

Erick I haven't got to try it yet. I know they wanted to more away from some of the fructose and did so by added some more natural sweeteners.

coach, i re read the x2 nutr guide.. i used my new numbers. have been maint diet for awhile and now i want to hit another 6 week shredder.. depending on my deficity i plug in 500, 600, or whatever. i fall into either 2400cal range or 1800 calorie range. and x2 says go 50% p, 25%c, 25% f what would be better for me to really shred up, 1800 at 50/25/25 or 2400 at 50/25/25. im 6 1 190 about 11% and aiming to get to 6/7%, thx

Mike, the larger deficit will be better. Shoot for 1800 at Fat Shredder and track all your food!

Ordered Body Beast yesterday. Looks awesome. Off topic but will the new superfoods such as moringa, coconut flower nectar, Himalayan salt, etc be part of the entire line of shakeology or just the new vegan?

Jrich, they are in the entire line.

i'm on the first strength week of X2 and having fun. i still find that i want to work out 6 days a week, and sometimes 7. the program seems to encourage that. Saturday is my rest day (7), but I'd like to do a ~2.5 hour boot camp / Red Cross event on day 7. think that's OK? i might just have to switch plyocide and chest/back on sunday/monday since i know that boot camp entails a power section with olympic style lifts.

Awertz, that would be the one thing to consider (overuse of a muscle group). If you have the energy, go for it. But make sure you are getting enough rest at night.

Body Beast looks like a blast! How far into the program are you guys? How would you compare it to a Bulking Diet-P90X? Keep Beasting up guys! Doing great!

Guys are about 3 weeks in, some are starting in the beginning of August. Body Beast is pure hypertrophy. There are so many different and new rep schemes as opposed to P90X. It will be very excited to see all the Beasts it creates!

Keep up the good work Coach. Can't wait to join everyone on the beast. Will be starting on the 6th and will be ready to represent team ripped :)

High coach why do I feel like I loose some muscle mass during recovery week . My arms don't look as big I'm doing p90X 2nd round on week 4 ? I take protein shacks and creatin 2 on 1 off. And still doing fat shreader.

Daniel I really doubt you are losing muscle mass in one week. You are probably just itching to get back to real lifting! Work hard on the recovery week and you will be better going into phase II.

My long term goal is to represent teamRIPPED in a infomercial after coming home from Afghanistan..Beast Up!

Awesome goal Chris! Beast up!!

Just wanted to let you know I submitted a request on teambeachbody to make you my coach. Thanks for keeping us ALL inspired and "walking the walk"

Great Robbie! I'll be looking for it and welcome to teamRIPPED!!! Bring It!!
