Coach W Checking In!

Happy Valentine’s Day teamRIPPED!!

How is everyone?  I hope everyone plans on having a great Valentine’s Day, that does NOT include eating a bunch of fattening little filled chocolates :-).

I’m hitting my stride in the Strength Phase of P90X2, and it’s AWESOME!  I remember when I first sampled these workouts, I thought some of these exercises were not very productive because, for instance, I was expected to do curls while standing on one leg.  I couldn’t do nearly as much weight while standing on one leg because of the balance component and it frustrated me.  Well, after a month in Foundation, where I had to do curls on one leg, in a half-squatting position, it literally seemed EASY to do curls while standing straight up on one leg last week during Shoulders and Arms.  I was doing the same weight as I used just last month in the original P90X Shoulders and Arms standing on 2 feet.  My balance and ability to channel my strength while controlling my body has really shocked me.  This program is amazing.

And just to compare P90X Chest and Back to P90X2 Chest Back and Balance = consider that in the X version, you have 6 sets of pullups along with some “freebies” like heavy pants, lawnmowers, and back flys.  With X2, there are 10 back exercises in the workout — every one of them on the pullup bar, and every pullup move is more difficult and advanced than what you might be used to from P90X.  These strength workouts are nuts!  The X2 Base and Back alternates between pullups and plyometric jumping — talk about a crushing workout!  I wanted to hit the pause button to catch my breath SO BAD, but I knew ahead of time that I would be tempted so I wrote “No Pauses” on my workout sheet and every time I thought about pushing pause I said, “No I can’t.  I already committed to no pauses.  Get your hands off your knees, get up on that pullup bar and go!”.  I was complete jello at the end of that one.  I can’t wait to get to day 90 and let everyone see the results of my hard work!  You won’t be disappointed!

As you know, the links to order the new Tropical Shakeology went live yesterday.  If you missed the details on Tropical Shakeology, be sure you read that article HERE.  It has the order links at the top.  AFTER I get the several boxes of individual packets that I ordered, I will add a “Tropical” option to the Shakeology request form.  I’m learning which of you don’t bother reading my posts by who has already submitted sample requests for chocolate but in the memo field saying they want Tropical.  LOL!  Busted!  Read the bold highlighted print in yesterday’s post on Tropical Shakeology!

I want to give a special shout out to our own teamRIPPED stud, Roger, who did such an awesome job with Insanity that he got a starring role in the brand new Insanity infomercial!  Way to go Roger!!!  You look awesome!

Do some of y’all feel left out as you see the great results of our Misfits?  Do you wish you had been part of that magic?  There is much rumbling going on in the teamRIPPED Misfits group about our next challenge!  Many Misfits are calling for a Misfit vs. Misfit challenge, in which smaller subgroups within the larger Misfit umbrella will go at it in an all out, Winner-take-all challenge, which will probably start shortly after our P90X2 Challenge ends in April.  If you are in the middle or toward the end of a round right now, consider getting a piece of this action by going to the Misfit Facebook page and stating your interest.  Many leaders have already stepped up and volunteered to lead the teams.  Click here to join the Misfit FB group if interested!

And 2 favors that I ask:

1) If you like the hard work I put into writing my articles and videos, PLEASE help me out by sharing them.  Click the share links below them and share them on FB, twitter, etc.  It really helps me get more exposure and grow teamRIPPED!

2) Also, as always, remember that the way I benefit from being your coach is that I earn a commission from any Beachbody products that you purchase, as long as you buy them through my site, www.teamRIPPED.com, or by logging in to www.teambeachbody.com to do your shopping (If you buy from the plain beachbody site I get no credit). It helps with the amount of time I spend answering all your questions and helping you out. Thank you! I really appreciate it!

Keep bringing it and inspiring others to do the same gang!!

Wayne Wyatt

Coach W, I'm about to start my last month of P90X. I bought a weighted vest and have been using it for the past 3 days during my workouts. I'm looking for extreme, team ripped type results, but do you think I could run into overtraining? The workouts were a bit harder but I pushed and had good numbers to put down on my work sheets, not to far off of the workouts without a vest. I don't think that I will be overtraining, I just feel like I'm pushing myself to the max, but my wonderful girlfriend is conserned that I could be hurting my results. I think she is just overly concerned but since she was worried I thought I would get your advice. Thank You!

Hey Adrian! That's not overtraining to push to the max like you are. That's perfect! Overtraining becomes a problem when you start doing extra workouts, lifting every day, etc. Keep it up!

What exactly is the breakdown of shakeology nutrients? Calories? Carbs? Proteins? Fat? Sugar? Vitamins? Pretty nervous about buying supplements/shakes and not knowing what I am getting. Can you please help/advise? Thanks

Hey Roldi, the full PDF of the entire nutritional breakdown can be found here = http://teamripped.com/supplements/shakeology (scroll down in the product description). Hope that helps!

First let me start by saying congratulations to everyone on youre results theyre nothing less than amazing and 100% proof that everything people say about p90X and every beach-body workout as well as dieting is the key to everything. From my personal journey i started this past new years ive lost 34lbs, im down to 286 and i have to say im feeling amazing already. and im still losing more weight. but the thing is ive only dieted along with moderate exercise on my own and i havent kicked it in 100%. its not that i have no will to commit its that im so out of shape that im working my way into p90, then p90x another thing is money right now im in the process of starting a new full time job in about a week so its going to allow myself more exercise within my job. and ill be starting p90 once i get the money, but i must say this that its true that diet is the main key, compared to what i eat now and how i did its amazing, i feel so much better and i cant believe im still dropping a lb or two every couples days. I will never give up on myself and im ready to give it my all no doubt about it, let me conclude by saying thanks coach for creating such a great support team as well as a vast source of information. Ill be sure to check back in when im showing some real progress. thanks everyone and keep up the good work. GOD BLESS!

Awesome Al! Keep it up buddy, and thanks for the update.

Word Coach, I am excited about Misfit vs Misfit! Thanks for the post sir. God bless :)

hey coach, I am trying to think about future workouts with x2 and got the ultimate kit. When i finish the 3 weks of the resistance phase, I was going to do the additional resistance workouts (vscult and chest), what do you suggest using for the 3rd workout. I thougt about doing one of the 1 on 1s that got sent as well, but also thought about using one of the resistance routines from P90X. Thanks in advance.

Hey Travis, I'm going to be doing the base and back workout for the third lift day my entire strength phase (see my X2 strength emphasis schedule in the downloads section). But if you want to sub a different workout (either a P90X or 1-on-1), that's totally fine. It's up to you.

That Base & Back is definitely a killer coach. Glad to know I wasn't the only one that was crushed by it. But, I always look forward to it, because it is so challenging. Awesome workout. And P90X2 is definitely a great workout program as well. Very impressed by it.

Hey coach...I am currently on the fat shredder plan...I am doing X2, nd was wondering if I take the recovery drink after base + Back, will those extra carbs hurt me? I do not want to have too many carbs...

No it won't hurt you Birsa. Base and Back is definitely worthy of the recovery drink. That's a beast of a workout and the R/R will actually help your body refuel and make progress. Keep it up!

Coach Wayne- First and foremost, just wanted to say this is a GREAT site and I'm excited to now be a part of teamripped! I'm here for one reason, to get in the BEST shape of my life and won't stop until I finally achieve that! I've done P90X and Insanity and saw great results, but that was this past summer. I've managed to maintain some of the results, but have found it hard to stay motivated since then. I've added Asylum and X2 to my library now, but am nowhere near ready to begin either of those programs. I'd like to get back to where I was at the end of the summer and be ready to take on both of those new programs this summer. I'm determined and motivated to get myself into the BEST shape of my life at the age of 42. I'm very competitive and feed off of other people's energy and need that extra motivation to keep me going daily! I'd like to try a P90X/Insanity hybrid for 90 days and see where it will take me. I'm hovering around the 225 lb range right now and would like to get rid of the jiggle in the middle as well as tone up for the first 6 pack in my life. Would a hybrid be the right choice for shredding the fat and firming up or should I start things out with just cardio and straight Insanity? I'm on board w/ the P90X nutrition program and will be working on the 1800-1900 calories/day. Any suggestions or thoughts you can give me would be great! Thanks so MUCH! Jon

Hey Jon! Glad you are so fired up! Since you've done both P90X and Insanity before, I think a hybrid would be perfect. Don't do a cardio-only program. You need the resistance training to maximize your results. Keep us posted on your progress bro! Can't wait to see you rock this!

Hey Wayne I'm glad you're enjoying X2 too, I'm absolutely loving it! I'm in week 7 now and X2 keeps throwing me curveballs to knock me off balance or make me feel uncomfortable (in a good way). If I may add my bit on what Jeff says above personally I can't wait to get back into the original P90X in the form of another hybrid. I never call any workout easy but the fact X2 will have conditioned my core & balance so much when I next hit the original X I'm expecting myself to hit monster weights and numbers throughout, maybe using ankle/wrist/vest weights. Coach Wayne, what do you think of doing mini-hybrids on a month per month basis and assessing after each month? EG, 1 month, could be P90X & Insanity regular, the next could be One on Ones & Insanity Max, then P90X2/Asylum and so on.

Hey coach, think you'll ever go back to the original X after doing the deuce? I'm hoping to order it later this year. Kinda seeing how it turns out for everyone else. I was skeptical early on - had just about decided I was "programmed" out. Three rounds of the X - still using it for hybrid workouts- plus Slim in 6 for my wife - 10 min trainer to fill in gaps & time shortages, etc. Just wasn't sure how the X2 would be but the more you share the more I'm drooling! Just wondering how you might "hybrid" after this round. Thanks

Hey Jeff, I'm sure I'll use some P90X workouts in my future hybrids, and it's not fair to say right now since I'm still new to X2 and everything is pretty exciting, but if I had to only keep one program going forward it would definitely be P90X2.

Here's an sample of one of the Misfit vs. Misfit teams: Team Psalm90X is all about learning how to live each day so that it counts. This philosophy is based on Psalm 90:12 “Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” This is the only Psalm attributed to Moses and it was probably penned by Moses shortly before he climbed Mount Nebo to the top of the pinnacle called Pisgah to be shown the Promised Land, before the Lord took him (Deuteronomy 34). Clearly Moses intended his readers wisely before God in all areas of life—spiritually, morally, mentally, relationally and physically. This challenge group is going to focus on living wisely physically. Moses is a great role model not only did Moses live to an age of 120; he had the physical strength to climb a 4000 feet summit! Deuteronomy 34:7 states that on the day of his death, “His eye was undimmed, and his vigor unabated.” The phrase “his vigor unabated” was the Hebrew’s way so saying at 120 Moses did not need to take Viagra! In other words, he was one fit dude! This challenge group is for anyone who wants to make fitness a lifestyle and make each day count, but it will especially be for those 40 or older. I would like to see a member our group win the Beachbody challenge every month in the 40-49 and over 50 categories every month on the challenge! Ask to join the Misfits and join our team!

Awesome Keith! Thanks for sharing!

That makes sense coach. We still have a lot of time. I absolutely love the idea of small teamRIPPED squads competing amongst one another.

Hi Wayne, I got your email welcoming me to the team. I'm on my first week of P90X. My 'journey' started a few years ago when I was looking at pictures of myself at 190lbs (I'm 5'9", 32yrs old) and knew I had to make some changes. I monitored my calorie intake and within 6 months I was down to 170lbs. I also joined sports teams to get in shape(badminton 4hrs/week + hockey 2hrs a week). Fast forward to November 2011, I decided to change my diet, no more processed foods, and zero animal fats. So basically a vegan diet! I quickly got used to these 'new' foods (lentil, quinoa, kale, oatmeal, etc.) and never looked back. I have so much more energy now! I'm constantly eating throughout the day but still somehow dropped down to 150lbs in 3 months. Fat is melting away, and now I need to get ripped with P90X! Gary

Hey Gary! Thanks for the update. Sounds like you've come a long way already with clean eating. Now the X will help you get ripped! Keep bringing it and keep me posted on your progress!

Wayne, Started X2 today. Did you use the recovery drink during the foundation phase? If so, for which workouts? I really appreciate your work on this site. Thanks Ed

Hey Ed, yes I used it after Plyo, Total Body and Balance and Power. Keep bringing it!

Wayne, I agree100% that X2 is AMAZING! I just finished P A P lower for the first time. I feel light as a feather and strong as a silverback! The new science rules!!! KEEP PUSHIN PLAY!

Hey Coach Wayne, Received your email welcoming me to Team Ripped! Thanks. Also, ordered Insanity and Shakeology from this site link yesterday. Currently on day 64 of P90X. This is my 2nd time through but a year a half apart. Had my shoulder put back together this time last year so it took 11 months of therapy and healing. No whining though. What I get for acting like a speed demon on skis : ) It's the Marine coming out of me! Keep pushing play....Oohh Rah!

Hey Joe! Thanks for the update, and for ordering through me! I appreciate that. Glad you are rocking it! Keep it up! And let me know if you have any questions.

Would the next misit challenge be p90x or p90x2? Or some of each?

I suppose that's TBD Madison. It's up to what everyone wants to do!
